I have a 2021 MG3 EV, purchased it from Frasers in Falkirk. Then 7 months ago while I took my EV for its service, the salesman said that I could have a new MG4 by giving Fraser My MG3 plus £5000, I said ok and we shook on the deal, but I had to put £300 deposit to secure a new MG4 once they were shipped to the UK, in which I did. 7 MONTHS later I receive a call from that salesman saying that I would have to pay them £9000 + my EV! - - IF back then when we shook on the deal and a new MG4 was in their possession, then I would have been the proud owner of the new MG4! Trust and honesty is hard to come by! So I would urge everyone to get deals written out, no matter how trustworthy you think your local salesman is!!! I felt let down!
It's not so much to do with the sales man or dealership but I should think when you were offered that deal used car prices such as the trade in price of your mg3 were over inflated and had been for a couple of years. I had a Kia and was offered more than I paid for it 2 years earlier. That doesn't happen often. Recently used car prices have come down massively (down to the prices they should be). This means that thousands have been knocked off trade in values. To expect a dealership to lose thousands in a deal because of market changes is unfortunately un-realistic and it worked out just the wrong time for your deal.
Great podcast, and very informative. But the 18" tire change is quite significant for EVs. Narrower tires result in a better range. Do you know why the change? To increase comfort and reduce road noise? which were both already quite impressive? Especially on LR Trophy models, the back spoilers already reduce the range by 10-15 miles. Won't larger tires reduce it more?
Can anyone please tell me who can install Tesla house batteries to charge from off peak rates and not solar panels???? Correction: B&Q with Egg start at £12,500 for solar panels with batteries. With a projected savings of £500/pa it will take 25 years to recoup the capital outlay. Still not a good too to option at retirement age 😔.
Lane Keep Assist is the biggest pain in the @rse on the MG4 - there should be a shortcut button to turn it off - or at least a bit more work to make it less intrusive (yes - I know it was toned down a bit, but needs more work) The radio interface is also pants - why have 'favourites' stations if the steering wheel buttons just scroll through every station? Why are the preset buttons so stupidly small on the screen? Why can't you delete stations? (How many people want to listen to the god botherer stations? ) Otherwise, really pleased with my Trophy 🙂
I've just bought a Trophy. If I had realised that all my car settings would resort to the default settings every time I stopped it, then I wouldn't have purchased it. I find the Lane Assist downright dangerous and this problem need sorting quickly.
Sorry, but ev's are a pain in the @rse if you drive outside the range of your home charger. European charging networks are a disjointed, incompetent, rapacious, catastrophe. I cannot believe how such a total mess of hidden away, non-functioning, expensive charging networks needing all sort of Apps and RFD's etc has been allowed to develop. Add to that the truly dreadful real world range of ev's and I am getting rid of my pestilent ev until this sodding mess is sorted.
only people who do not understand how to plan or use apps to help them on there journey. people who own ice cars run out of petrol, do research and your ev driving will be easy.

Great episode guys. Same here, right hand drive market means we are usually 1-2 years later getting models. 👍
So from the end of February produced cars trophy/Luxury versions don’t have the black roof anymore but have 18” wheels ?
So did Myles say how much oil is going into the diff?
Hoping all the 4 problems are getting resolved on the assembly line. So cars arrive in July August are all sorted ?
