Very informative and entertaining both! Thanks for the review. I’ve struggled for awhile with WTH is the purpose of e-bikes, other than to be lazy, but I’ve come around to the “they really can be useful” camp lately. I especially see them being useful in an shtf situation in which fuel is not available and scavenging needs to be done. This seems like a great bike!

Number one reason I bought one, water is heavy. But after SHTF I want to be the war lord everyone wants to target. But more then anything, extends the distance of the fun.Maybe 50 years ago a pure peddle only bike. Not today.

I have to say, this one is too much bike for me. The most attractive feature, in my opinion, is that great suspension system. I wish there was a way to have awesome suspension on all the bikes on the market. But it's really nice to know that these exist. As always, excellent review! Love the deep detail you go into, and the hard work you put into setting up and conducting the tests. And of course the editing to explain it all. Thank you very much! Have a fun and safe holiday weekend. ODIN !!!! 🤗😻💖

Battery range can not be calculated by riding one third and multiply by three. The more a battery is depleted, the less range is left, the quicker the discha rge. If you get 20 miles in one third you won't get 60 miles of distance., more likely 45-50 miles if fortunate. Look on the bright side, pedaling home is still an option. Cheers.......RF

We recently purchased an X24 after watching your video. Did you happen to notice if the thumb throttle actually varies the power? The thumb throttle itself seems and acts like it should be variable but behaves like a switch either turning the motor on or off. No power variability.

Dr Hobo - I can’t find a good place to ask a question, so I’m asking it here. I am a single senior, living in a small sticks and bricks home, in a U.S. South location that is increasingly having several days long power outages in Both winter and summer. I want to set up an inexpensive backup power bank system that could recharge led lights, phone, tablet, and run either a box fan (summer) or small electric blanket (winter). I’d like to use both a solar panel and a small wind turbine to charge the power bank. Could you do a video where you design an inexpensive way to do this? Thanks!

    • @imbonnie

i’ve got a simple system that does that. in fact i’m off grid most of the time. i use the inergy flex batteries, 4 batteries and the top section connected. outside i put 8 100 watt solar panels on my jacuzzi lid that feed electricity to my battery system. from the battery i have an adapter that has 2 110 plugs that merge to a 50 amp outlet. i plugged a 10 foot 50 amp cable to that adapter. that feeds through a 50 amp rv hatch to the outside transfer switch that has 10 switches. (reliance controls brand). When I flip all the breaker switches up on the transfer switch panel i’m running my house off grid. It’s not enough to run the central ac but will run one or 2 windows acs. Also, since there are 2 110 plugs going to the transfer switch you could have 2 battery stacks, one plug to each. That would give you 2 inverters. Thus you could run 2 high -watt appliances as long as they are on alternate lines. I’m waiting for the super charger to get back in stock so I can bring in more solar. For now i’m doing a work around with other batteries to get more electricity in.

Hopefully it helps other people of your channel. So, this is what I understand from your answers: So, do you have to charge two batteries separately? NO. Do they work together when you ride or do you unplug from one battery and then into another? Yes (the two-parter question). On the X26, are the front shocks adjustable? YES. Does the battery rattle like earlier models? NO. Can I use peddle assist and throttle at the same time? YES. Shouldn't these be deal breakers for anyone looking to buy this bike? Outside of the USA and bits of China, these things are restricted like crazy. If you want a fast one you need number plates, a horn, mirrors, big clear turn signals etc... yet manufacturers consistently fail to fit them (or else only sell "legalised", read "slow", versions). I'd love to flit across Osaka on a range-anxiety-free "EV" and charge it from the Bluetti at night, but finding an "electric motorcycle" that isn't, well, an electric motorcycle (ie has no pedals) is a challenge.

Looks nice. In my rampant crime city these are stolen if you leave them anywhere in public.

@@HOBOTECH He has a valid point and security is a problem everywhere no matter what kind of bike you ride. If you take your bike out anywhere here in Wisconsin and let it sit outside of a shop or restaurant there's a good chance it isn't going to be there when you come back out whether it's locked or not. Especially if it's an e-bike.

There's a reason chains and locks exist. Where I live in rural America it's less of an issue but I'd still lock the bike out of common sense. If you live in a place where thieves run around with power tools to steal bikes then it's not a safe place to retire or raise a family. Hence I left the city.

@@HOBOTECH Biggest problem we have around here is there's nothing to chain them to. No bike racks, no posts. We just don't have the infrastructure to properly secure them.
Great review, by the way! I wish this bike had hit the market a year or so ago before I bought my Vado.
