I loved this video! My sister lives next to the Columbia River near Northport WA. Only about 7 miles from Canada. It's amazing how wide it gets to where you are, compared to at her house. Really enjoy your soothing voice. Keep safe and sharing your wonderful trip.

I know this is late, but for future info. The Captain of each of those ships by law turns his ship over to a Specialty Captain before they enter the Columbia River. The Specialty Captain takes the ship up and back down the river. There is so many places the ship can run a ground. The Specialty Captains have the river memorized. There is a museum in Astoria, Or on the Coast Guard and the many ships of the Columbia River. It was extremely interesting even for my daughters/

Traveling the length of the Columbia River would be a fantastic trip. The river is about 700 miles long inside the U.S. So much fun watching your journey down the river.

hi russ, i paused the video to catch the phone number for the vista park, looks like a great place to spend a few days..
We bought the very same wind balloon in Parker last winter thanks to you. We live up the river in Eastern Wa. The Wa side of the river is a prettier drive than the Oregon side up to the Tri Cities. After that it is a toss up. The only exception would be Multnomah Falls east of Portland on the river. If you haven’t seen the Falls it is worth the stop. It’s just off highway I-84.

Hey Russ. This might be a little late, but don't forget about the Columbia River Gorge on your trip east. It's about an hour and a half in your direction. Absolutely beautiful and stunning place to visit. it's on my Oregon map for us to Visit when We are up there.

When I lived in Portland 20 years ago I use to go down to NE Marine Drive and watch the planes land and take off as well as the boats go by. Now and then you could see the Air National Guard take off.
