Been looking to route a 2nd battery for my audio and camera setup and didn't know how to hide it. This video reminded me that I have a spare motorcycle battery that may do the trick, so thank you.
Bro you’re videos have been helpful more than anything else with my recent bugeye build, i just installed iag fuel rails with aeromotive fpr evap delete custom diy tgv delete, walbro 450 lph, 1300cc injectors and a Blouch 18g billet wheel.
Keep in mind, any rubber cap on the intake manifold can potentially become brittle and rip, causing hidden vacuum/boost leaks so make sure they're inspected periodically and replaced accordingly. The other method of capping unused intake manifold ports is to use the same diameter rubber hose as the cap and plug the hose with a machine screw, then zip tie/clamp it to stay put.
I've used that method before as well to cap off, and agreed the rubber will become brittle, especially in the heat or hotter environments. Good add joe! 😁
Bro thank you so much for this video, just threw a cel (P04AC = EVAP SYSTEM PURGE CONTROL VALVE "B" CIRCUIT LOW) in my sti today and had no clue what was going on, didn’t realize that the solenoid is useless af! Just reset the code and I’m doing this to mine ASAP
Hey Tanner. I'm a big fan and been following your page since your "how to make your wrx/sti more reliable" haha. Anyways, I have a 19 STI and just had a reputable tuner/shop in my area install and protune me on Flex Fuel; I was previously just Stage 2+ in the past. I've had the tune for 3 days now and I have been data logging for at least 100+ miles city/hwy with no hiccups to report to my tuner. But suddenly tonight at 7pm, after my tuner/shop closed, my car threw a CEL P04AF 'Evap System Purge Valve 2 ("B") Stuck Closed' after what felt like a rougher cold start than usual (e60 in the tank right now). I let the car idle for a minute or two before shutting it off. So I sent an email to my tuner/shop and I hope to hear from them tomorrow morning. But I was wondering if you had any thoughts on what this issue might be about? Obviously I'm gonna wait to see what my tuner/shop says. But did you experience this same problem after going Flex Fuel too?
I deleted thr EVAP system in my car before going E85, very simple to do and your tuner can remove the codes that would pop up with it. But sounds like thr Evap system is not a fa of the E85. What E % are you using? Also appreciate the support my friend! 🔥🙏
@@Smeedia dyno-tuned on e78 with cobb's flex fuel sensor. E60 was what the accessport was reading during start up. Unfortunately my tuner/shop said they arent free to diagnose until this Saturday =[. Why were you getting an EVAP CEL initially? Jw
Run the dump hose down next to the transmission. You won't smell it and you won't want it in the fender because you will have oil and other goodies come out of the hose.
@@Smeedia Bingo. I also have my Perrin AOS drain hose going down with a ACE hardware copper shutoff valve so I can drain the AOS when I change oil. I personally don't want any fluids recirculating back into my oil. 🤷🏻♂️
When you get around to the charcoal canister I recommend you install a roll over valve if you haven't looked into that, but you seem to always do your research well. Keep it up :^)
Great video. I broke the connector on my evap solenoid. Can I just cap off turbo inlet, unplug both solenoids, and run the vent line to the fender? Tune is tomorrow!!! Thx Tanner
Simply use a golf tee to plug the intake and leave the canister evaporator hose open. You do not need to remove the solenoid because it will stay open. If not, then just disconnect the canister hose. Do not unplug the purge valve!
A shop worked on my car 09 wrx, put new aftermarket fuel lines, TGV deletes, and all that good stuff, they asked if I wanted to delete the EVAP solenoid and I said yes, but now my car struggles to turn on I wonder if that delete is the problem. Also the smell of fuel is unbearable. Planning on putting the EVAP back in hopefully it fixes the starting issue.
Is it possible to still put on a plug on all the evap stuff and have a tune to take off the code so when it’s emission time it will pass. Thanks for all the help you give.
I am always excited to watch your videos. I am pretty pumped i just put brand new plugs in and a mishimoto performance intake. Ill be doing my TGV Deletes and ECBS along with my Protune/Dyno tomorrow. Keep up the good work!
SlimSticky good luck with the TGV deletes it’s a PIA I did mine last week and I did the air pump delete as well. Might as well do the turbo inlet while in there as well I just did everything as I don’t want to remove the manifold ever again.
Post office always hiring. 17.29 starting. If you dont have kids its subi build money. Still takes time to save but that's the time to do research and make sure smeedia can talk you through the process without mistakes.
Is it possible to do this and drive the car without getting a tune? Will you just have a check engine light on? I’m currently pulling out my manifold and snapped a nipple on the evap solenoid as well as snapping a few brittle evap lines. Trying to avoid having to buy a new solenoid. Can I just delete it all? I don’t mind a check engine light as long as it doesn’t effect how the car runs. My car already has a check engine light anyways
Does this give you any trouble with warm starts? Seems like it wants to start with the vapors from evap but they arent there? Mine starts great cold but delayed on the warm starts every time.
So, you couldn't use the Cobb turbo inlet because it was missing one port. But since you have done an evap delete, you have removed one of the ports on the turbo inlet. So couldn't you have used the Cobb turbo inlet if you did the evap delete while doing the other engine stuff???
Yes 😅 at the time was not planning on doing the delete but happens, the Cobb one still fit like trash around the TGVS, The perrin inlet fits pretty well around them
Once you deleted these how has everything been once you got your tune? Also, once you go the the flex fuel system with the new Cobb fuel lines and regulator and all that, how would the evap sensor be set up if someone decides to keep it all?
So I have a comp AOS and have done this evap delete. I can't stand the smell of fuel that the car has now >.< I am not sure whether it is the AOS or this hardline by the firewall that causing the smell but I have ordered an AOS conversion from Comp to Street series. Do you have any advice on whether the remaining hardline can be plugged or maybe routed back to the turbo inlet to get rid of the smell? Mine has a line just tucked pointing towards the lower part of the engine. I believe routing towards the fender like you did may help vent the gases when the car is moving but my issue is when having the car idling or when going at lower speeds (parkings, traffic, etc.) I just discovered this vent watching your video and have not tested if the strong smell comes from it or if my initial theory of the AOS being the culprit still stands :) (The delete was done in a shop, but now I am starting to mod and learn about the engine by myself)
The main smell comes from the comp AOS, routing that evap line into the vendor should pull vapor under the car when driving to get rid of that smell even more 🙏
@@Smeedia ahh ok. it's probably also more cost efficient to have the bung welded onto one of the charge pipes, or as i've seen others do, on the end tank for a tmic.

The cars going to be on pump gas 95% of the time so under 600WHP on Pump they suggest the Comp. Because I can't get E85 all of the time easily I just want to have the tune so if I want to use it I have it lol 😁

I've done quite a bit of research on the things I can/can't do without needing the car tuned beforehand but haven't covered it all just yet. Anyway, thanks in advance
@@Smeedia okay for sure thanks much appreciated!! On another subject, I'm having some issues with my Sti. It's acting like it has no power. I can only build 5lbs of boost and when I go over 3000 rpm I hear a whistling type sound. I thought it was the pcv valve but after removing and cleaning it, the problem wasn't resolved. So I'm thinking I have a boost leak coming from my intake inlet. What's your opinion on the this?
Great video. Love the car man. I’m in WA as well! Question, so if I’m running the stock fuel lines under the manifold do I just cap the line from the T to the fuel line off?

I tried changing gas cap but code is still on:/ after I disconnected the msg terminal and start the car the check goes away until I start the car again then it will pop up:/ every annoying man.
How is the EVAP system related to emissions? I though it was just meant to take gas vapor (and subsequently pressure in the gas tank because of heat/expansion) and then throw them into the intake manifold to be burned.... am I confused?
Essentially yes that is the function, but some states don't like when people vent the gasses back into thr atmosphere instead if plumbing bsck through thr carcoal canister to reduce harmful gasses. Instead of having the sensor and lines min just vents all the fuel vapor into the atmoaphere. In states like California you can fail inspection and SMOG
What is the hose called that yoy rerouted to the wheel well? I bought a truck that has the evap and egr system deleted. Just yesterday i plugged all the vacuum hols but theres a good possibility that i plugged one that i shouldnt have
Can anyone tell me if there is a Cobb tune for stage 1 that includes this delete? I want to keep my car close to stock but this sounds like a good delete to do for reliability etc.
How similar is this on a 2005? I have a 2005 with a p0458 code and I am trying to figure out if i should just get rid of all this stuff. Does it need retuned?

I've done quite a bit of research on the things I can/can't do without needing the car tuned beforehand but haven't covered it all just yet. Anyway, thanks in advance
You can do it on a stock car but you'll have to tune out the CEL from deleting the EVAP
@@Smeedia what do you mean I'll need to tune out the CEL? How would you do that?
You need a tuner to do it. Removing Removing purge valve will result in a check engine light 🙏
Could very well be, while the car is running spray some soapy water around thr areas that seem to be leaking 🙏
Great video. Love the car man. I’m in WA as well! Question, so if I’m running the stock fuel lines under the manifold do I just cap the line from the T to the fuel line off?
Don't cap it off, vent it to thr atmosphere, run a hose down the frame rails. And wyyy, what area?!
Smeedia thanks man! I’m in Longview,Wa. Near Vancouver WA
Eyyyy, not too far at all! 🙌
Smeedia where you at?
Puyallup area 🔥
Hey how are you doing. I have a 2013 Subaru WRX and I wanted to know where the evap would be in my car.
The EVAP Selanoid should be right next to your boost controller
If u do this do u get a check engine light?
Did you remove the fuel lone or is it just empty line thru out the manifold ?
I think someone deleted this on my new to me wrx. Do you think this is the reason why my car can’t start after filling it up with gas?
Normally it's the charcoal canister when that happens 🙏
Such a late comment I know, but would doing this delete stop the code that it throws??
You'll have to tune out the code 🙏
Don't use those black vacuum caps. they dry rot and leak over time. Use the silicone colored ones.
I'll get some ordered 🙌 appreciate the heads up 🙏
@@Smeedia O'reilly usually has these vinyl ones on the shelf. They work really well too and also don't dry rot.

Will deleting your evap system give evap codes.? If so do u have to get that tuned out, or will it always b there? I have a code for p0458 purge valve circut low input. But my system has 255 fuel pump/ tvg delete iag upgrade. Cobb 1050cc injectors iridium fuel pressure regulator .
Would this help with car running rough and when I put fuel in it has hard time starting I wounder if this would fix it cause I have evap code too
Would think vapor canister by the fuel tank if those are your symptoms
Assuming you had a P0458 code for the check engine. How did you get ride of it. Tuned it yourself or what?
Had my tuner turn the CEL off 🙏
looks nice man considering doing this to mine next tune, also wouldn't routing the aos line under the ic piping look better ?
It stretched the line too much, if they were a little longer I would have 😅
What is the hose called that yoy rerouted to the wheel well? I bought a truck that has the evap and egr system deleted. Just yesterday i plugged all the vacuum hols but theres a good possibility that i plugged one that i shouldnt have
It's thr EVAP line that goes to thr evap solenoid 🙏 shouldent be plugged
@@Smeedia thanks brotha
Can anyone tell me if there is a Cobb tune for stage 1 that includes this delete? I want to keep my car close to stock but this sounds like a good delete to do for reliability etc.
None that are used for this, because emmisons varies from state to state they never made one
I have 07 sti it's throwing p0457. My evap is deleted you have any issues with this code?
Even though it's deleted it wounds like it was never removed form.your tune
@@Smeedia my tuner said this code isn't tune related which is why I'm so confused
Bro, don't you get an open circuit code by leaving that canister plug unplugged?
I actually have that line by the firewall capped off. Do you know which route is best, capped or venting to the fender as you did?
I would route it to the fender so it can vent any built up pressure 🙏
How similar is this on a 2005? I have a 2005 with a p0458 code and I am trying to figure out if i should just get rid of all this stuff. Does it need retuned?
Same same, deleted it on my 05 as well 🙏 you'll need a tune to remove or delete the code
@@Smeedia Will it hurt on stock tune? Already have a code and didn't wanna tune for awhile. I can deal with the codes until then.
It may make the car feel sluggish but aside from that it shouldentnhave any adverse effects
Where is the evap solenoid located on fa20
Do you need a tune to remove all that because I did and im about to put the engine back in
Yes you will 🙏
Let me know about the battery... been thinking about it myself for some time now. Good vid! Now lets us see the horsepower gains no more suspense! Lmao! I will look into the merch, but what I really want is whatever you are taking so I can be so hyper too !!! muahahaha. Just kidding.
😅😅 its life! Getting kicked up of life lol and will do! So far its been friendly, I know mini battery's tend to struggle with air suspension so we will see how it does 😅
Did you have any idling issue on cold start the day after when removing the EVAP system or solenoid?
No issues 😁
I'm a firm believer That race cars shouldn't have emissions requirement or they just aren't racecars
What about the check engine light? Tuned out?
Must be tuned out 🙏
@@Smeedia I just got my car pro tuned took 2 months to get in for the tune. If I do evap delete do you think the tuner would send me an updated tune or will then want to charge me for another tune
Is this dangerous to do because of fuel vapor? I worry about heat and anything
Not enough vapor to cause any issues from thr EVAP, still had the charcoal canister in thr back to help reduce the amount of EVAP going out
How much weight did you save with the smaller battery and engine parts you removed?
Not sure, ill weigh them and see how much weight was removed 😅
If I do this will my car fail emissions when I have to get it done again?
Yes unfortunately
@@Smeedia Damn alright well thanks for answering
Can this evap solenoid cause my car to fuel stumble a bit at 2500 RPM? I never had it before but my car had the engine replaced recently and now I notice it but the evap was disconnected and I had to re connect it all.
It shouldn't, are you on the Stock FPR? The OEM FPR will cause that to happen
@@GetaDomTune nice i didnt know that my tuner saw my log and sais he doesnt see any lean spots and i logged it in the area i notice the stumble but i can hear very very faint pops in the exhaust while im at 2500-2800 after that it goes away but i am on a base map and i have an FPR so thats why its odd but the solenoid i reconnected it based off the manual and my buddies sti.
@@GetaDomTune 1000 IDs but it ran just fine prior to me installing tgv deletes, EL header with upipe and EWG i got ringland right after so i bought a short block and had a shop throw it in for me so im at 275 break in miles on the new upgrades.
@@GetaDomTune yes stock rails and lines
@@GetaDomTune yeah it seems like i have it but what can i do to get rid of it? I already have a FPR and a base map but a revision of my previous tune so its not the very first tune. Ive read about some extension vac line?
Hey I have a question is it bad to delete the secondary air injection pump? 🤔 im just curious
No, only used for cold start for emissions, you'll throw codes but your tuner should be able to remove them 😁
Smeedia thank you so much for the response!
Anytime! 😁
Hey, so I have a 2018 WRX 12,000 miles and I installed TGV and EGR deletes the other day (I’m on a base tune ) and after driving around for 10-15 minutes my car pops a CEL ( EVAP code P0441), cruise control flashing, abs light on and hill start assist light on. I’m not sure weather to take the car to Subaru because there’s an actual issue or it’s just popping the codes because of the mods + base tune. Any thoughts you have would be greatly appreciated.
My guess would be tune related, the EGR will throw EVAP codes since it is emmisons based. Should go away after the protune but I would verify with your tuner
Smeedia Actually I was just dumb and forgot to take out the EGR motor 😑. Thanks for your Input though!
Happens, but glad it was a quick fix!
i got the code p0455 , my gas cap is tight took it to the dealer couldnt find the problem? any suggestions?
can it be the evap solenoid purge valve or a hose that is leaking? its a 2020 sti w only 800 miles'
No mods at all?
Same here 2020 STI but I do have mods lol.
Where is the charcoal canister on a 2015 + WRX STI? Google isn't fairing well
Under the car to the right if the spare tire well 🙏
Can I do this with project greenspeed?
Did you figure out yet?
@7:00 thank you. exactly what I was looking for.
Perfect! 🙏🙏😁😁
Purge canisters are super expensive too
Hey if I buy a hoody can u ship the cylinder 4 cooling kit with stainless bit to aust? I can’t buy them here. Want a hoody and a cooling kit :)
If you pay for the shipping and the cost of the cooling kit I can 😅🔥
Do you need a pro tune to get rid of the evap codes ? Or can I do it off my access port ?
You'll need a protune 🙏
@@Smeedia damn my car already has a protune do you know if they can remap it or no ?
Yes they should be able to 🙏
Do you have issues after refilling fuel? Issues starting. Was told by our protuner no way to get rid of that issue.
No issues at all, typically if you do that's going to be your charcoal canister
Doesn't the competetion series iAG AOS basically do this same thing? Thats what I run
Essentially, just vents the gassed to the atmosphere instead of back into the intake
@@GetaDomTune Competetion series iAG AOS obviously does not ONLY vent crankcase gases to atmosphere, its main purpose is to separate the oil from the intake track and return it back into the block, but i do believe its related because ive installed the AOS onto my own car and removed some of the components he did as well.
The only different ports are the PCV ports from the turbo inlet and the PCV tube going under the throttle body. The Street to Comp plugs those 3 ports and no longer circulates the gasses/oil vapor back through the car.
how you solve the track off light and check engine??? same whit "SI" drive mode are blinking how you fix that?? i have code P04F0 can delete using a launch x431 scanner
Your tuner can delete the codes
I need this for wrx 2008 uk car
Shoukd be same same I would presume 🤔
Watching your old vids, thats my current step, removing my intake manifold, after finish with it im removing the damm evap spaghettis and the air pump nightmare. So i got a question brother, I'll run a speed density with the tial q bov, i have the perrin inlet on the stock VF48, ive been trying to find the bpv plug block off for the inlet, i got one in aluminum but is to big and doesn't fit, any particular one for the perrin 2.4" inlet that you know of and where i can get it?
Try a local auto store for some standard plugs, that's what I use 🙏
I have a 06 torrent
I deleted egr
Pvc all vented
Air box debre filter gone
Air box intake pipe extended to fender
30.1 mpg on freeway now
Im going to check Texas emissions. I'll end up doing the same if we're good.
Yassssss 😁🔥🔥🔥
Wait did u buy a whole new aos or just the conversion parts
Just the conversion parts
@@Smeedia o ok good u had me worried for a moment lol. I bought the sport setup and realized that I needed the comp and had to order the conversion parts
How would one do this for a 2012 wrx?
It would be sick if you made a video on how to do this on a non sti
Same concept, the evap sensor is under the intake manifold on the drivers side 🙏
@@Smeedia u could use my car to make a video on it 🤪 I’m in Seattle too
Please plug merch so we can see what you got! Maybe you could just hang it up on the wall behind you so we can still see it?
I wear it in videos every now and then but def can! Links should be below videos for some of the goodies that I have. All support is appreciate my friend! 😁
Does this work on 11 STI
Yes 🙏
Tanner. Will it throw a CEL?
Yes, your tuner will have to remove the codes
