Hey Matt, I just wrote something similar today. You're right Dude. Unfortunately, So Right! "I think that this around the time that America's Innocence began to be lost. In regards to Pop Culture any way. We're full on Violent, Depraved, Drug Addicts at this point,& waiting for the other shoe to drop. It simply sucks! God's calling us back soon. So, hold tight to what's right. Prayers for everyone."

YES ,it was we name MUSIC ,really .Today ,especially in French Space ,there' s only SHIT ,alas .It was the Time we have really GOOD MUSIC and SINGERS full of TALENT.
@lionelrichie.- Good morning! Sir. It is a Pride to exchange with You. Yesterday evening, I watched a Video of You and our dear Diana Ross, a memorable Duo on the Song "Endless Love", a delicious moment suspended in Time and space that will undoubtedly remain in the hearts and memories of all those who were present at this exceptional evening. I text you from a small island located in the Indian Ocean, a French department called "LA REUNION", it is not very far from the big island "MADAGASCAR", below. How is it that a personality such as You may be interested in an innocuous comment on UA-cam? In any case, it gave me enormous pleasure just as once, I had contact with Anita BAKER, another Great Lady and important Artist in the world of Song. I wish you the Best in Life as well as to all those who have given a lot of their person and raised this Artistic Expression that is the song at the level which is its, today... in AMERICA and in the Whole World. We all need Love and Dreams. So on behalf of all, I say “Thank you!”
I just wanted to say that this song went around the world. I am in Italy, in Sicily in particular, and when I was young I listened to it hundreds of times. It's a piece of my story and I'm sure who's reading it too. I just wanted to thank Kool and the gang for making me dream.
So do I.There was never a better time to be a child in the U.S.Great music, great cartoons, plenty of TV shows that the whole family could watch together (TGIF, anyone?), people still read books, there was more personal privacy, families talked with each other at dinner instead of checking their messages, there were about 2 billion fewer people on the planet, global warming hadn't really set in yet, and you could go to a theater without some jackass on their mobile device, ruining it for you.
You can, you just gotta put some more effort than only scratching the surface by listening to the (mostly) boring/generic songs playing on the radio D:
I'd only been trying find the reposting meme and came across this a long time ago. I didn't listened to it when I was young since it wasn't what I was looking for. I then thought about this recently and because I'd only seen a bit of it, decided to watch the video. Oh my god. What a beautiful and lovely charming love song. Though I never really listened to much of Kool & The Gang and hadn't really thought much of them, I will listen to more of their music and are now one of my favourite bands because of this song. This has to be one of the greatest love songs of all time. ❤❤❤
Damn this reminds me of being a kid in the 80's. We didn't know how good we had it then. Great music was all over the place. And this video shows how we all long for the days of our youth, just like lovely waitress Joanna who longs for the jazz era of the 1930's when she was a star. Damn aging SUKKS.
Kool & the Gang was always our inspiration from our very beginning in 1974 we always looked to kool and the gang to see what they were doing and tried to emulate them. I'm sure they don't know or realize how many musicians they influenced. I would not be the music producer and musician that I am now without Kool & the Gang.
You couldn't pick a better inspiration than these legends! I never quite grasped how insanely versatile they are until recently, and it is just unbelievable. They could flow from one genre or decade to another with no problem, and own each era. Just saw them in Atlantic City this past February, and I don't think I sat down once. I clapped so hard my palm had a bruise the next day! I know we've lost some original members, but let me just say: if you're playing with Kool and the Gang in any capacity, in any era, you better be at the top of your game. And these musicians were. Pure magic, that show! 👑✨
Quantas saudades, tempos incríveis. As matinês lá no Social Ramos Club, terraço boate 97.... Ou no Olaria, não se fazem mais músicas assim, anos 70, 80 .... Maravilhoso período musical.

@@syrus3k lmfao yea rose tinted glasses. But the first part is true
Yep so many good songs during that era

Lmao 70's and 80's were the worst period to be alive
I can never listen to this song without thinking of my dad. 💗
I woke up with this song on my mind, not sure why. Beautiful and catchy song.
Lost my friend Joanna" by hit and run on Stewart Ave Atlanta Ga..Miss you sweets. RIP
Sorry
RIP Joanna
Love this song, and even though I got rejected by "Joanna", I won't hate this.
I'm sorry but I burst out laughing when I read your comment. I'm sorry u got rejected it happens to the best of us
Yeah, funny (not the rejection)
Oops-
😆 lol
Sorry about that 😂😂
Beautiful song, how many memories this masterpiece brings me back...
I love 80s R&B that's smooth and soulful like this. All dudes I'm sure have felt this way about their crushes at some point too :)
JPMcFly1985Two #FeelTheBern totally agree.
2023 y esta cancion sigue siendo preciosa los 80's son de otro mundo verdaderamente eternamente Kool and The Gang👍😎
This is REAL music! I was probably 4-7 years of age when I saw this performed live on television and I still remember it at 43 years of age. I miss the 80s so terribly.

People have to grow wiser and not let technology outsmart them forever!
@Thomas the comment rater what do you rate this comment, Thomas?
Hey Matt, I just wrote something similar today. You're right Dude. Unfortunately, So Right! "I think that this around the time that America's Innocence began to be lost. In regards to Pop Culture any way. We're full on Violent, Depraved, Drug Addicts at this point,& waiting for the other shoe to drop. It simply sucks! God's calling us back soon. So, hold tight to what's right. Prayers for everyone."
@Thomas the comment rater That's a bit overkill. Don't ya think? Take a deep breath Tommy Boy. Don't Let the evil seep in :-)
This is a classic. Love it. !!. They were so good. Lead singer is fabulous. Wish they were around still. This is music. The best of the best.come back please. 😊
When the world and humans were nice 🥺 .. and when music and lyrics touched your soul 💜
Since when have all humans been nice?
@@keithjones7390 fair comment .. more then than now .
YES !
BLM made sure we'd hate each other again. They sure did a fine job of it. Back when this song was popular we got along so much better.
The world has always been nice
The world has always been cruel
Everything changes, and nothing does.
Me and a friend of mine used to make fun of another friend of ours about him liking Kool & The Gang. Here I am 30 years later, this shit is brilliant.
I just wanted to say that this song went around the world. I am in Italy, in Sicily in particular, and when I was young I listened to it hundreds of times. It's a piece of my story and I'm sure who's reading it too. I just wanted to thank Kool and the gang for making me dream.
Aqui no Brasil ainda toca nas rádios
My family is from Sicily and it's my name

I'll do anything to bring the 80's back! Those were the best times of my life with great memories! 🥲🥹📻📺📼📹☎️📞📠🤗🙏🏾
I miss the 80's so much
me too
So do I.There was never a better time to be a child in the U.S.Great music, great cartoons, plenty of TV shows that the whole family could watch together (TGIF, anyone?), people still read books, there was more personal privacy, families talked with each other at dinner instead of checking their messages, there were about 2 billion fewer people on the planet, global warming hadn't really set in yet, and you could go to a theater without some jackass on their mobile device, ruining it for you.
me too
I love the 80s and definitely miss it!
I'm not saying Iwas born in the wrong generation or anything, but I would've loved to grown up in the 80's. It all seemed so much better back then.
R.I.P. Robert "Kool" Bell and thank you for the music you brought to me
@Darkside Paranormal....Likewise!!!!
Robert is still alive, Ronald(his brother) is the one who passed away
@@4nix591 Whew!! I was like NOOOO when I first read this.
These are the songs that touch you deep in the heart. you just cant get songs like this anymore.
You can, you just gotta put some more effort than only scratching the surface by listening to the (mostly) boring/generic songs playing on the radio D:
Go get spotify. There's a bunch of new music with same vibe of mid 20th century musics :)
That trombone solo is PERFECT. Not that one hears many trombone solos in pop music.
Became a thing in 1984.
AGREED!!!!!!!!!
I prefer a rusty trombone
I love how JT and the band serenades her. One of my favorite songs and videos of all time!
Another favorite....RIP Dennis D.T. Thomas of Kool And The Gang!
God bless
Ouvindo ese encanto de música em 2023🇧🇷
What a pretty and very interesting woman ,hello my darling ?
This is one of the underrated songs of the band.the lyrics are classical romanticisms that could rival Shakespearian age.
😕😲😯Really

A dazzling love song, timeless, haunting sublime. Ive loved this for over forty years.
Wish we had music like this today.
Kool & The Gang - Joanna great great great
I sing this to my daughter i named her joanna then i found this song i perform for her. Love my daughter with all my heart

This song will outlive the test of time
If I had had a daughter I was going to name her Joanna, I love this song so much.

My dad said he sung this at his high school talent show back in 1981.He won first place!!! It was well deserved!
The song didn't come out til '83'
