This video includes 8 tips for using the Behringer U Phoria UM2 USB Audio Interface. You can actually get great sounding results with this audio interface and it's extremely affordable! Let me know if you use the Behringer UM2 and if not, what audio interface do you use?
I'm using samplitude for recording audio, and I used berhinger um2, and it works even if I didn't downloaded the um2 driver.. But when I exported the recorded audio as mp3 I noticed that the midi track was louder that the mono track, even if it is mixed well.
@@JLyonsProductions you could try plugging a 1/4” mic into the instrument input. It likely won’t sound as great as the mic input as it doesn’t have a mic preamp on that side but you should be able to get a signal and it might sound alright. I’ve never tried it so i can’t comment on the quality.
I have a UM2, and just to clarify for some people who may have not totally caught this, the signal from the Mic input is only output to the Left channel, and the signal from the Instrument input is only output to the Right channel. Normally complete separation (vocals only on one channel and your instrument only on the other) is not desirable, that's why it's best to make 2 separate mono tracks out of the 2 channels and mix them together for the desired level. And with each input having it's own level control, you can also mix live if you're streaming and using both inputs with your OBS set to mono. Using the Behringer driver will definitely give you better results and make things much more simple than the default driver. Prior to installing the Behringer driver, I had a whole long list of frequencies, both 1 channel and 2 channel. The one channel settings are useless if you have an instrument plugged in because you'll only get sound from the left channel or Mic input. After installing the driver, you have 2 choices in the advanced settings, 2 channel 16 bit 44100 Hz CD quality, and 2 channel 16 bit 48000 Hz DVD quality, the only 2 you really need. I also noticed improved signal to noise ratio with the proper driver installed. I had tried upgrading to a TC Helicon voice live play acoustic, which sells for around $300. Sure, it has a lot of cool effects and features, but I was not happy with the audio quality over USB and I struggled to get a loud enough sound out of it even with all the gains maxed. I record with Audacity and the Play Acoustic gave a very low signal level resulting in bad signal to noise ratio during playback. So I sent it back and just use a guitar effects peddle between the guitar and UM2, and use VST host for my gate, delay, reverb, etc and I get a much better sound with the cheap UM2 setup than with the $300 TC Helicon. I'd recommend the UM2 to anyone looking for a good quality, but very inexpensive interface.
Hi, i have the um2 and biasfx on windows 10. So my problem is that when i am minimizing the bias fx desktop app, and go let's say to youtube, or spotify, i hear only that and not my guitar and when going to the app i hear only my guitar and nothing else. So jamming with a song is imposible. I am using asio4all drivers. Do you know a solution to that, or do i have to buy a new interface with better drivers? Thank you
Thanks a lot man! I was having trouble with the latency and thought I had to get a more expensive interface. The driver helped me to reduce latency and is much easier to use for beginners.
So glad I discovered your channel. Spent 3 days trying to get the um2 to work. You sorted it thank you. Have subscribed. Using cakewalk and watched your one on that too @
So glad I saw this! I was going crazy wondering why my audio is coming out my laptop speakers, even though everything is hooked up correctly! I downloaded the ASIO4all driver and my laptop recognizes the UM2 as USB CODEC. Haven't used your link yet because I'm on my phone. Will definitely respond with my results. Thank you again for this informative video!
Hello. To answer your question I am going to start using Ableton Live again for audio recording. I tried to get Pro Tools to work, but I would spend literally hours trouble shooting it. All kind of errors too, midi, audio, monitor ( you cannot use 4k resolution with pro tools). The most recent issue is that it wouldn't load my UAD interface properly and would distort it. I would have to open ableton live and then open pro tools for it to work. And it takes several minutes to load a project. Ableton Live just works after maybe 15 minutes of set up ( assigning vst folders, and selecting midi controller scripts). I look forward to actually making music again haha. Thanks for the video!
I hear ya. I used to use Pro Tools too. The professional version is probably a lot better but the consumer level versions can be a little fussy. When I watch your MPC Live videos the workflow of the MPC reminds me of Ableton Live so I can see why you would like that DAW. I’m looking forward to hearing your music when you start creating it again. I’m in a similar spot, getting back into making music for myself again. Thank you for checking out this video.
I unplugged my studio quite a while as I,ve been very confused by all this ! Thanks for being so clear about it all, I'm ready to plug back in and try again ! This may even sort my band in a box issues to........####ing computers...... I love music but not all this you have to go thru just to plug a guitar in !!!!! 😂
yeah man, that last tip is really great. I have lexicon alpha, and was thinking about this interface, but then i realised that also my interface has 2 inputs which i need
Yeah I thought because I bought my processor off wish that I screwed myself and had to buy a new one but actually was just the way I was recording, simple things like moving the processor over and the mic on separate corners of my setup and I thought the sound foams were enough but I had to put up a big heavy blanket too, now I'm getting clear results, Stoked to keep pumping out music, thanks for this, and the volume on the computer also, never knew about that
Hello! Your video helped me a lot to set up and get my Behringer work properly. I got UMC22 last week and it was really nice when I tested it. I have encountered a problem a week after though, for some reason the track i'm trying to record is so low and has some sort of gain limiter and sounds distorted when it's beyond the "limit". The feedback from monitoring sounds fine though. I was hoping if you're still reading some comments, you might be able to help me. Thank you so much in advance!
Thanks for the info about the asio4all being the wrong driver. I had been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why I was getting so much noise plus my vocals wouldn't sound loud enough no matter how high I turn gain. Downloading the right driver made a huge difference. It just blows my mind that the behringer website didn't have the proper driver.
I have a feeling it might be a licensing issue as the original driver (this one) is made by another company (Ploytec) and maybe there was an issue with the license or Payment between the two companies. But that is just a guess. It just seems odd that they don’t offer this option unless you ask for it. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
I’m not sure what the static or buzzing sound is. If you’re using a dynamic mic and have the gain cranked up try bringing it back a bit. That can reduce preamp noise that happens when the gain is cranked up. If it’s some sort of static interference, try moving the interface somewhere else, away from other electronics and anything that uses wifi or Bluetooth.
If you haven’t installed the actual Asio driver for it then that is likely the reason. The default driver that installs (USB Codec) isn’t the greatest.
Using the UM2 to output stage sound from a Yamaha CL5 in to zoom. Not having much success on windows 10. MacBook has been the best but still not great. Will download the driver and see if that helps. Thanks for the video.
I love this Behringer U Phoria UM2 USB Audio Interface. It was my first one I purchased for doing voice-over. Also, I have been a long time lurker on your tips and suggestions. It's helped me out so many times!
GReat video. I just got my mic and plugged it into the behringer....what do i do next to get sound? I'm speaking into the mic and there's no output of sound.
Plug your headphones or speakers into the Behringer. Connect your mic, press the direct monitor button on and start increasing the gain on the mic channel until you get the level you’re looking for. If you can’t hear the mic with direct monitoring turned on then your mic might need phantom power turned on if it’s a condenser mic. Or there could be an issue with the mic itself or mic cable. Also make sure you are using a xlr male to xlr female cable to connect your mic. The direct monitoring feature bypasses the computer so you’re hearing exactly what you’re imputing into the interface before it hits the computer. This allows you to accurately set the levels and do troubleshooting to see if there are issues with your hardware.
@@nhtheboy4363 yea you can get one if you can find someone selling it on tha low, i ended up just buying a 2nd hand comp. That already had it loaded, ended up being cheaper that way
Hi thanks for the tips ! I am trying to use my UM2 to in the following way: In line 1: input from my laptop (for backing track) , line 2: input from my guitar effects processor, and use the L and R outputs in the back to the cellphone (for recording audiovisual) and to guitar amp (for playback). But, I am not sure if this going to work, could you please help ? Also, if this works, what kind of RCA cables (mono/stereo) would I need ? Thanks .
Hi, I have a Behringer U Phoria UM2, but I lost it's usb cable. I have a maono USB mic with type b usb cable. Will it be enough to use my behringer interface. Will I face any issues with the quality of the recordings.?
Tip 9: Use FlexASIO instead of Behringer's driver or ASIO4ALL to enable shared mode (use the device for more than one program at the same time; for example DAW & UA-cam).
Tip 9A: go into windows settings and make sure that you don’t have your audio interface set to allow exclusive mode. Then you can use your audio interface with your daw, UA-cam, music playing, or whatever. And you don’t need to install a third party apps. Here’s a video on how to easily do that ua-cam.com/video/5Jqcm-fDN0I/v-deo.html
@@AudioTechTV From A4ALL website: WHY DO I GET AN ERROR ‘COULD NOT START ASIO’ OR SOME SUCH? (READ THIS ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH LOGIC!) (Version 1.x) ASIO4ALL requires exclusive access to the audio device. More often than not, starting the driver fails because the audio device is already in use. There are obvious instances, like some other audio application still open, but there are also things to consider that are not so obvious. (Version 2.x) This error should not happen as often anymore. Instead, you simply get no audio, and, if you open the ASIO4ALL control panel, you will find that your audio outputs are flagged with an error symbol. The most likely reason and remedy for this hasn’t changed, however.
@@elzafir that’s not just an issue with ASIO4all that’s an issue with any audio driver. All you have to do is go into your sound settings and uncheck allow exclusive access to this device and it’s fixed. Watch the video that I linked to. It shows exactly how to do it. I’ve done that for years with numerous sound cards and audio interfaces. No need for a third party app. It’s built into windows.
Hi I have an issue, whenever I switch on phantom power it takes more than 15 mins to start ... Does this happen with every UM2 or mine is faulty one or the cable is bad or whatever.
Yes you should record in mono. The inputs on the UM2 are mono. If you record in stereo you might only get audio on one side. You can mix down to stereo after.
It can be a preference thing. If you prefer to record in stereo do it. Personally I prefer to record in mono as it is a mono source that I am recording from. If you record it in stereo you are getting the mono audio copied to the left and right. So you are doubling up on the audio for that recording. I also find it easier for mixing and editing in mono. But again it can be a preference thing. I work with guys that record to stereo tracks even though it’s a mono source. Whatever works best for you.
I have that interface and every time I try to record vocals in Garageband, it starts doing a skip thing with my voice and I hear small clicking. It never did this before and then it automatically started and I've been looking for a solution for months and I can't find anything. I just bought a new mic because I thought that the issue was with my old mic but it didn't change!
Thanks for the video, I have a question, So, I want to use this for twitch streaming and I use the OBS. But regardless of that, I want to hear the game (my computer audio) and my own voice in the headphones. Now if I connect my headphones and turn on the direct monitor button, will I be able to hear both from the headphones?
I am getting quite a lot of noise if using any TH3 effect with especialy distortions whether using electric or semi accoustic guitar... Can reduce the noise inside the app but the sound quality is bad and nost did not get the sound I want... Any tips? Is this because the um2 is too close either with my laptop/desktop or guitar? Or the guitar cable is bad quality? 🤔
Is the second instrument input on the um2 also a mono input or it can record stereo as well? (P.S. i want to record my keyboard...nd some tones are stereo there...) thanks in advance 😊
The instrument input is also mono. You could try and output your keyboard with two 1/4 inch plugs. The left can go into the line input and the right would go into the inst. input. See how that works. It might be a little too hot for the instrument input though so start with the gain on that channel turned all the way down. Ideally you should get an interface with two line inputs if you want to get a great stereo sound.
Can we connect 2 devices at the same time for recording.. say a mic and a Digital Piano. In my case, only my line-1 works and I don't get input from line-2 when both are connected.
You can use it with smartphones. With android you need an OTG cable and a powered USB hub in order to get it to work. I’ve done this and it works well. On iPhone you’ll need a lightning to USB cable and a powered USB hub.
Hey SGT thanks for the video! I found it really helpful, I’m trying to setup my 3dio ASMR mic for streaming, trying to make it as simple as possible! Having trouble downloading the installation. Can you help?
I’ve been using reaper as my daw and it gets the job done. I have a question for everyone. My um2 seems to have a sort of hiss on the attack, not only with high gain. Its not the grounding, it also happens if the power cable of my laptop is unplugged. And grounding it by touching anything on the guitar doesnt change anythy at all. Gain is already at 1/4th
Hi, I am actually trying to use the Behringer U Phoria UM2 USB Audio Interface trying to record my video. I am using OBS to record it. However, I notice that only the sound of my mic has been recorded. The guitar sound isn‘t recorded. How can I fix it?
Nice video! I recently got this based on this video, and I've been experiencing a lot staticky sound/cacling in the output line with my monitors. I'm guessing this is because of RFI. Placed it somewhere farther from my electronics and the frequency of it became less but still there. Are you also experiencing this sometimes with this product? Sadly, I don't know anywhere else in my desk where I can place it that's within practical reasoning but its bearable. Any inputs would be highly appreciated!
It might not be the interface it could be the cables. Are you using balanced cables to your monitors? Also I notice that sound typically if my cell phone is close. You can try moving your cell phone away or tablet or any other device that might be interfering. I still get rfi noise in my current setup when my phone is too close to the monitors. If you think it’s your computer, try putting it into airplane mode to see if that helps.
I'm hitting a brick wall here. I have the UM2 Reaper DAW and have downloaded Bias FX2 and the Behringer drivers which are loaded into Reaper. I have speakers hooked up to my PC. Two things: 1) When I am plugged into the UM2 arm a track to record, nothing records. 2) When I download an MP3, there is no sound output. I've looked at so many videos but I'm sure I'm missing something SO SIMPLE! Can you help???
When in Reaper make sure you set it to input 2 for the guitar (if you're plugging into the instrument input) or input 1 if you're using a DI into the mic/line input. when you're playing the MP3 is that just through windows media player or are you loading it into Reaper and trying to play? If you're using Windows Media player, can you hear the audio through your PCs built in soundcard instead of the UM2? If that's the case you will need to go into Windows Sound settings and set the UM2 as the default playback device. If it is already set as the default playback device and you can't hear any audio through it make sure the main volume on the UM2 is turned up. Make sure your headphones or speakers are plugged into the UM2 correctly and there's nothing wrong with the cables. If you're trying to play the mp3 in Reaper and there is no sound but there is sound when playing through Windows Media Player then there's an audio setting that needs to be fixed. Maybe go back into the settings and see what's up. Make sure it's set to ASIO and the Behringer USB Sound Device is selected. Another thing to check is go into Windows Sound settings and make sure that the UM2 isn't allowing exclusive access by going into the advanced settings for it.
Im using ableton 10 as you can get it free for 90 days, but i am absolutely lost atm Also the behringer drivers makes a huge difference, i installed them earlier today and the hissing background stopped
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment. I have an Ableton Live Lite tutorial for beginners that might help you. ua-cam.com/video/FtBoPI769ks/v-deo.html The Lite version is the same as the full version except it has an 8 track limit so all of the basics in this tutorial should work for you. Hey, great video thank you ! Do you know if it's normal that, while Ableton is running with the Behringer USB Audio interface, I can't use any other sound related software, like I can't watch youtube or play music with VLC, etc ?
Hey bro. Thanks for the great tips! Just wanna check with you. I'm still new in this. Can this Behringer UM2 be use with FL Studio 20? Can you do a video on it too? I'm sure there's a lot of beginners like me would loved to see it. Thanks in advance! Cheers!👍✌
I got the um2 with an at2020 about a week ago and it’ll sound fine for about thirty minutes, but after a while it starts making me sound like a robot and stuff. Was wondering if there’s anything I can do or if I should just buy a different interface.
It depends on how much room noise you have. When I record, my house is fairly quiet. I just have my computer (which is pretty silent) and sometimes the furnace comes on or central air. But they are pretty quiet. If you are recording in a noisy room it will be hard to remove the background sounds. If it’s just light sounds in the background you can use an eq to roll off 80hz. Sometimes that will work on its own. You can also do a bit of compression. I go over that in an old video of mine here ua-cam.com/video/os9cPDbHrms/v-deo.html in the video I use all free tools. Also try to record your voice not as loud. If you turn the gain down, you’ll pick up less self noise from the mic and preamps. Aim for -18db. You can always normalize it or increase the volume when editing.
Audacity has a noise remover. Record the background, use that as the sample of noise then remove the noise from the entire recording. And everything else he said.
I'm using samsung note 20 ultra but when I connect in behringer um2 it's connect properly but no karaoke sound track listing in my haedphone so what can I do for fix my problem
is the "trs" input really a trs input¿¿ i connected a pylePDMIC78 and it is almos silen.. i turn up the volume at max and stil I barely hear any sound.. Today i tried with an Audio Technica ATR2100 with a XLR to 1/4 balanced cable and the same happened
It can improve. It all depends on the interface and the source of the audio going into the interface. One of the best improvements is the lower latency from some of the more expensive interfaces. But you can still create decent music with this one.
Technically yes. But microphones require gain and your laptop might not be able to provide enough gain for it to sound good. Also the input on the laptop might be a little noisy. So the answer is yes you can connect it direct. But it may not sound good. Give it a try and see what it’s like. You can get an affordable audio interface if you need to.
@@AudioTechTV yes sir I have already ordered the interface. I am just querying that is the interface enough? Or the interface in turn needs to be connected to a mixer?
The interface will be enough. A mixer really wouldn’t add anything except more ways to route your audio. If you find that you need more gain you could look at getting a mic preamp or something like a Fethead or cloudlifter. They would bring additional gain but you should be alright with the mic that you’re getting.
i have behringer um2 and the daw am using is protool hd,i can not hear myself on the headphone.i did or the the setting on the setup/playback/change it to behringer audio um2 but still can not hear my self..i went to the io but still couldn't hear my self.can you help.
If I configure my UM2 for Mono like shown in the video, can I listen to what I play with headphones while I Record what I play in the Pc with Audacity?
FL Studio was pretty much the first DAW that I really started to learn and use. The workflow is great for solo musicians and electronic music but it’s very versatile as I was also doing rock styles in it too. I think FL is great for beginners but you may like something else. Download FL Studio’s demo and try it out. It’s fully unlocked. The only thing is if you save a project you can’t reopen it until you purchase a license. You don’t need an interface to get started with FL Studio.
@@AudioTechTV Thank you so much for replying! Could you recommend me a good microphone condenser? I've been watching reviews of both interfaces and microphones but still unsure of what I should use 🙏
It really depends on your budget and what’s available. A lot of the more affordable stuff is sold out at a lot of places. But for low budget options the Behringer C1 or Samson C01 can be great. Going up a bit in price the Audio Technica AT2020 might be the best all around entry level mic. But if you have a larger budget the Lewitt 240 Pro is good and if you go a bit higher the Aston Origin or Rhode NT1A are great options. MXL990 and V67G are also decent affordable mics. There are lots of options out there, use a bit of eq and compression on them and you can make them sound much nicer. But a lot of these affordable models have been sold out lately. If you’re working with a bit of a larger budget I would really recommend getting a Shure SM7b. It’s a great dynamic mic that can be used on pretty much anything. And it’s something you can keep in your studio even as you grow it. However you may need to get a Fethead or Cloudlifter to go with it. A cheaper option would be the Shure SM57.
If you connect it to the 1/4” there may be an impedance level difference. It won’t harm your mic but you may not get the best results. Some interfaces also bypass the mic preamp when you connect 1/4”. I can’t remember if this one does but it might. Plug it in and if it sounds good to you, use it.
Hey, thanks for video. i play guitar. Sometimes i open backing track from youtube. But when i use asioall no sound from youtube. If i use behringer can i get sound?
there's an easy fix for that. You need to make sure that your audio interface or soundcard doesn't give exclusive access to programs. I have a video on how to easily change that here ua-cam.com/video/5Jqcm-fDN0I/v-deo.html

Hi, Thanks for your presentation. I get feed from a ZED mixer and uses its AUX2 for output into the Behringer UM2 to connect to my laptop. Then, I use it for my ZOOM meeting. I often prompted with Zoom said it couldn't get audio. What seemed to have happened? As I was a cohost, I couldn't restart my Zoom call. Any suggestions? thank you.
I’m not sure what might have happened. Make sure you have the UM2 set as the default communication device in windows (if you’re using windows). But if it was working and then just stopped working during your meeting then something else is going on. Maybe a power issue?? I don’t know. Maybe a program that you opened takes control of the audio device. If you’re on windows go into your sound settings and make sure you don’t have the “allow programs exclusive control of this device” clicked. You want that unchecked.
@@AudioTechTV Hi. Thanks for your prompt reply. It makes sense. I have been thinking about the default setting as well.. Well that particular laptop was only use for a Zoom meeting. Thanks. I will try that again.
I'm facing a problem with the um2. Its my default device for recording music using Audacity software. However all of a sudden im facing an issue. The computer is detecting the device and I can hear my instruments through the monitors however when I try to record it detects nothing. no signal. How to resolve this?
i use this interface and using mixcraft 9. i hear my vocals only in one side of my headphones (hpm 1000). Is my interface has any fault or what should i do to hear my audio monitering in both sides of headphones ? please guide.
Whatever level it needs to be at for what I’m recording. Play or sing as loud as you’re going to be doing while recording and adjust the gain until it just starts to make the red led turn on. Then turn it back a bit, until it no longer touches the red. If you want to use the meter in your daw you can try to aim between -12 and -6db. Do not adjust the levels in your daw until after you set your level on your interface.
Bro i need your help, i have a microphone, i have lots of microphones but none of them has xlr input/output so i got converter which makes my microphones 3.5mm to 1/4". as you see 1. input is xlr-1/4" combo jack. so when i connect my microphones from that 1/4" i cant get any sound... but at same jack my guitar works. what is the problem? do i have to have xlr to get microphone sound? what is the difference 1/4" works with guitar not with microphone? and lastly, at windows sound settings i only see "line-in" there is no line-in2 or microphone...even onboard sound card has line-in mic etc differently is that normal?
I was using Audacity with my Samson Q2U with the USP input and recently got a Behringer U-phoria and for some reason it doesn't work with Audacity, I get an error. I tried some different LIne-In settings and it's really quiet.
Not sure what the interference is that you’re talking about but no it’s not normal to have it on it’s own. But things like where your audio interface is placed (if it’s near things that might interfere with it). The source that you’re recording can also affect this. Is it a dynamic mic that requires a lot of gain? Is your gain turned up all the way? If it is then yes you’ll get some noise in the background. You can try using some eq to get rid of the sound and there are some plugins that can help like IZotope FX, waves has some noise removal plugins that work well too. But again it all depends on what the sound is.
It could be the interface. They are not capable of using the highest settings. But if you have a lot of plugins in your project that can also cause issues.

Hey! With this audio interface, can you plug and extra mic in... say in the instrument plug?
@@JLyonsProductions you could try plugging a 1/4” mic into the instrument input. It likely won’t sound as great as the mic input as it doesn’t have a mic preamp on that side but you should be able to get a signal and it might sound alright. I’ve never tried it so i can’t comment on the quality.

@@jayserrano4104 does your interface have the hiss before installing any software (or reads as USB Codec basically)
Thank you for watching the video and for the comment. Hopefully it will help others to understand. 👍

Thanks a lot man! I was having trouble with the latency and thought I had to get a more expensive interface. The driver helped me to reduce latency and is much easier to use for beginners.
This was TREMENDOUSLY helpful! Thank you SO MUCH!!!! Was confused about some things and this cleared all of that up! Perfect!
Glad you enjoyed the video and it was able to help. Thank you so much for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
I am one of the first starter to run a studio! Big help so far definitely looking forward for more learning.
So glad I discovered your channel. Spent 3 days trying to get the um2 to work. You sorted it thank you. Have subscribed. Using cakewalk and watched your one on that too @
Glad the video helped. Thank you for watching and for subscribing. Keep creating! 👊👍
Thanks for the tips. This helped me get started in Ableton Live 10.
Hey, so how did It work?
It's been 3 years man. How are you doing?
My Berhinger U-Phoria UM2 will be arrive on next week.😁 This video is very helpful!! I'm gonna watch the next video how to switch mono into stereo.
im seraching for best cheap audio interface and this is really useful video for mt, thanks!
I have lexicon alpha, and was thinking about this interface, but then i realised that also my interface has 2 inputs which i need
thanks for the tips, i use Cakewalk by Bandlab and also Ableton Live
Both are great DAWs. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
are you using it for recording only? or TH3?
sorry, i'm assuming you use it with a guitar
Just downloaded driver and all is well! Thank you again!
Good to hear. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
Thanks man this saved this little baby a RMA, now everything seems to work fine!
Yeah I thought because I bought my processor off wish that I screwed myself and had to buy a new one but actually was just the way I was recording, simple things like moving the processor over and the mic on separate corners of my setup and I thought the sound foams were enough but I had to put up a big heavy blanket too, now I'm getting clear results, Stoked to keep pumping out music, thanks for this, and the volume on the computer also, never knew about that
bro you are an interface God - keep it up
Thank you! Keep creating! 👊👍
I use good old Garageband with this Interface!
Nice review sir.. I have my own um2 interface.. Just want to ask sir what us the best for get rid of static sound or buzzing sound?
I’m not sure what the static or buzzing sound is. If you’re using a dynamic mic and have the gain cranked up try bringing it back a bit. That can reduce preamp noise that happens when the gain is cranked up. If it’s some sort of static interference, try moving the interface somewhere else, away from other electronics and anything that uses wifi or Bluetooth.
so i have a um2 and im using it with fl studio, the main input works but the instrument input doesnt work at all, do you know how to fix this?
If you haven’t installed the actual Asio driver for it then that is likely the reason. The default driver that installs (USB Codec) isn’t the greatest.
@@AudioTechTV ive got the asio4all driver but in fl studio it says "Fl studio asio" and nothing else works
Cakewalk FTW! Great video, thank you.

I use audacity & FL Studio... & thanks for the feedback tip...

what about LATENCY? at what latency msec you do not hear delayed sound? cuz i would like to get one for recording vocals and instruments. GREAT VID 😊
Great video! One question, sorry for my ingnorance, what happen if I connect a dinamic microphone in the instrument input?
hey, i tried putting Dynamic Mic to INST2 input via 1/4 cable, it isn't working. know why?

Very helpful. Thank you
Hello..thanks for the review, I like to play along guitar with mp3 track and record, can I use this ?
I use logic pro X, and sometimes just good old Garage band

Tip 9: Use FlexASIO instead of Behringer's driver or ASIO4ALL to enable shared mode (use the device for more than one program at the same time; for example DAW & UA-cam).
Tip 9A: go into windows settings and make sure that you don’t have your audio interface set to allow exclusive mode. Then you can use your audio interface with your daw, UA-cam, music playing, or whatever. And you don’t need to install a third party apps. Here’s a video on how to easily do that ua-cam.com/video/5Jqcm-fDN0I/v-deo.html
@@AudioTechTV Exclusive mode is a limitation of ASIO4ALL, AFAIK.
@@elzafir nope exclusive mode is built into windows. It can be turned on or off with any sound card or audio interface no matter what driver you use.
@@AudioTechTV From A4ALL website: WHY DO I GET AN ERROR ‘COULD NOT START ASIO’ OR SOME SUCH? (READ THIS ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH LOGIC!)
(Version 1.x) ASIO4ALL requires exclusive access to the audio device.
I'm using Protools First in a school class and trying it using Behringer UM2
Hi I have an issue, whenever I switch on phantom power it takes more than 15 mins to start ... Does this happen with every UM2 or mine is faulty one or the cable is bad or whatever.
thnx for the video..Should we record in mono than stereo with this interface for better quality?
Yes you should record in mono. The inputs on the UM2 are mono. If you record in stereo you might only get audio on one side. You can mix down to stereo after.
but m getting sounds on two sides...will in mono it gives better quality?
I’m having the same problem.
I have a Behringer UM2 with a AT2020 that I'm using for my Voice Acting

It doesn’t work on window 11 tho is there any way to fix it?
Thanks for the video,
I have a question,
So, I want to use this for twitch streaming and I use the OBS.
(P.S. i want to record my keyboard...nd some tones are stereo there...)
thanks in advance 😊
The instrument input is also mono. You could try and output your keyboard with two 1/4 inch plugs. The left can go into the line input and the right would go into the inst. input. See how that works. It might be a little too hot for the instrument input though so start with the gain on that channel turned all the way down. Ideally you should get an interface with two line inputs if you want to get a great stereo sound.
Can we connect 2 devices at the same time for recording.. say a mic and a Digital Piano.
In my case, only my line-1 works and I don't get input from line-2 when both are connected.
Can we use behringer audio interface in smartfone? Pls advice me to use it in smart fone plsss....yr this video is very usefull..thanks for this.....
You can use it with smartphones. With android you need an OTG cable and a powered USB hub in order to get it to work. I’ve done this and it works well. On iPhone you’ll need a lightning to USB cable and a powered USB hub.

Thank you for the info :)
Could you wrap the UM2 in aluminium foil to reduce interference? Sounds pretty over the top but I am curious if that would work.
Im using ableton 10 as you can get it free for 90 days, but i am absolutely lost atm
Also the behringer drivers makes a huge difference, i installed them earlier today and the hissing background stopped

I got the um2 with an at2020 about a week ago and it’ll sound fine for about thirty minutes, but after a while it starts making me sound like a robot and stuff. Was wondering if there’s anything I can do or if I should just buy a different interface.
Do you know how to reduce room noise? Your audio is very clear
Hi

Can you record both line 1 and 2 at the same time?
I am using pro tools artist.
Yes you can record both inputs at the same time.
is the "trs" input really a trs input¿¿ i connected a pylePDMIC78 and it is almos silen.. i turn up the volume at max and stil I barely hear any sound..
Today i tried with an Audio Technica ATR2100 with a XLR to 1/4 balanced cable and the same happened
thanks..helping so much
can i use the um2 to play both speakers and headphones together at the same time??
Yes you can.
Does the sound improve if you get a more expensive interface?
It can improve. It all depends on the interface and the source of the audio going into the interface. One of the best improvements is the lower latency from some of the more expensive interfaces. But you can still create decent music with this one.
One more query sir... Mixer is not mandatory right? I can connect it directly to my laptop and record music...

If I configure my UM2 for Mono like shown in the video, can I listen to what I play with headphones while I Record what I play in the Pc with Audacity?
Hi. Can I get power to Behringer connecting the USB to a wall outlet?
You likely can. I’ve done that with other interfaces and it worked.
Hi! I'm currently looking for a good interface with low price like UM2 but I'm not sure which DAW I should use. Is FL Studio okay? Beginner here ✋
FL Studio was pretty much the first DAW that I really started to learn and use.
Hi, does it make a difference if i connect a dynamic mic with a 1/4" cable rather than a XLR cable?

So jamming with a song is imposible. I am using asio4all drivers. Do you know a solution to that, or do i have to buy a new interface with better drivers? Thank you
Thank you!!! Can behring um2 handle 250 Ohms headphones?
It will power them, you may need to crank the volume up but it will work.
Did you change the input device in Audacity? Is the volume for that device turned down?
i use this interface and using mixcraft 9. i hear my vocals only in one side of my headphones (hpm 1000). Is my interface has any fault or what should i do to hear my audio monitering in both sides of headphones ? please guide.
Record to a mono track and you’ll be able to hear it from both sides. This is a stereo interface so input one is left and input 2 is right.
What level do you keep the gain at for input 1?
Whatever level it needs to be at for what I’m recording. Play or sing as loud as you’re going to be doing while recording and adjust the gain until it just starts to make the red led turn on. Then turn it back a bit, until it no longer touches the red.
If you want to use the meter in your daw you can try to aim between -12 and -6db. Do not adjust the levels in your daw until after you set your level on your interface.
Can you help me? I record clips with GeForce Experience, but all the videos are recorded in mono track. Idk how to change :c

Bro i need your help, i have a microphone, i have lots of microphones but none of them has xlr input/output so i got converter which makes my microphones 3.5mm to 1/4".
as you see 1. input is xlr-1/4" combo jack.
so when i connect my microphones from that 1/4" i cant get any sound...
but at same jack my guitar works.
what is the problem? do i have to have xlr to get microphone sound? what is the difference 1/4" works with guitar not with microphone?
and lastly, at windows sound settings i only see "line-in" there is no line-in2 or microphone...even onboard sound card has line-in mic etc differently
is that normal?
Bonus tip! Yesss!!!!!
I was using Audacity with my Samson Q2U with the USP input and recently got a Behringer U-phoria and for some reason it doesn't work with Audacity, I get an error. I tried some different LIne-In settings and it's really quiet.
will the Behringer UM2 cure my latency problem?
Hi, is it normal to have interference in the background of a um2? Can I fix it using DAW without over-processing the audio?
Not sure what the interference is that you’re talking about but no it’s not normal to have it on it’s own. But things like where your audio interface is placed (if it’s near things that might interfere with it). The source that you’re recording can also affect this. Is it a dynamic mic that requires a lot of gain? Is your gain turned up all the way? If it is then yes you’ll get some noise in the background. You can try using some eq to get rid of the sound and there are some plugins that can help like IZotope FX, waves has some noise removal plugins that work well too. But again it all depends on what the sound is.
Hey, I have a good computer but when I choose a good latency option I get the noises and cracks. Do you know why? Thx for the video and reading =)
It could be the interface. They are not capable of using the highest settings. But if you have a lot of plugins in your project that can also cause issues.
I have been recording on Obs and my audio es really low, how can i make it louder? If i put more gain in the interface, my audio sounds really bad
