Pioneer have neglected affordable full sized players. Still using my XDJ 1000 MK1’s from 2014 because there hasn’t been a good upgrade option. It seems they are pushing controllers more and more but that doesn’t work for everyone. Would like to see an XDJ 1000 MK3 which has modern features but with prices always increasing, I doubt it would be considered “affordable”

I love my XDJ-1000 MK2 especially paired with the XP1/XP2, but I’d love to see a MK3 player with a better screen and the addition of Hot Cue and Beat Jump buttons.
I have a pair of 3000 on back order, but there are a lot of bars and small clubs that simply won’t stretch to 3000’s that I feel a more mid level player would be really suited to.
      Somewhere around £1200-1500 each.

On a marketing view , I think that pioneer wouldn’t bring out a cheaper price player
I would love to , but I don’t think that this would happen .
What the streaming consider : yes please!
I’m using Beauport and beatsource link for2 years and I love it . Yes I have sometimes download issues ( 1/10 ) but for the rest,it works great .
use it while we drive ( I play during the Rollerbike parade ).
The one thing that I don’t like is that I always have to carry my laptop with me.
I repeat I standing on a pick up truck playing while this one is driving through the streets.
So I don’t think this is good ( all the vibration ) for my laptop.
So yes I will love a solution where I wouldn’t need my laptop.

I'm one of the few people who chose to use the XDJ700s because they're just way more portable and fit into much smaller booths and for someone who loves 4 deck mixing booths are never big enough. I wish they'd do a mk2 to the XDJ700 but I would be surprised if that ends up happening

I'm a complete Denon fanboy with my sc5000ms and prime go, but finally got to use the 3000s on a gig and the feel on those is nothing short of amazing. Seen a lot more xdj xzs show up in the smaller bars though, I think those will be the dominant force considering their price point.

You’re forgetting that the few things denon has over the pioneer are still things the pioneer could be capable of with software updates, which are undoubtedly coming in the future, otherwise such a robust set of internals wouldn’t be necessary. Getting the software just right and maintaining the functionality and speed of the unit will be key to these functions not becoming a hassle, which I believe pioneer is capable of handling. The denons are a top tier unit, and none of this is to say anything other than such.

@@Funky1ism no, not really. I think with the pandemic, and the uncertainty of their chips continuing to be manufactured, and them either having to re design some internal parts for that or the logistics of setting up a new supply chain, the loss of revenue, I think 1000 different reasons could be why they haven’t released any of that stuff yet. And what would all of us be saying if we can barely get our hands on one yet they’re releasing updates like these? I know I would be saying “thanks for the updates nobodys using.” Because at the moment all I can say is “thanks for making this review, I’m sure tiesto and the rest of the festival Dj’s who actually touch these things will be giving a thumbs up and dropping an F in the chat for everyone else who will see these next century.” Matter of fact, I think pioneer, and serato, are both dropping the ball by not having more integration, and then again by their use of subscription services for software that used to come with gear, or for free. Example, buy a djms11, that’s a hardware unlocking device, go out to play at the club and they have a nxs setup, you’re fucked. If you get a piece of gear with a license it should work across the board. I have a very big issue with this situation and I’m done advertising for them. All pioneer DJ and serato logos on my equipment have been covered.

Don’t get me wrong, i am with you, i think the cdj3000 is heavily overpriced, so much so, that its ridiculous to ask that price, while a Denon player that is just as good, if not better, is way cheaper.
I would personally take the Denon, but a lot of Dj’s don’t care about the extra tech of functions the Denon have, thats why they rather stay with Pioneer, because its familliar and does what they need, instead of evolving.

I gotta be completely honest, I'm surprised Denon DJ dropped the ball with their "Change your ryder" marketing campaign. They had everything going for them considering they had superior hardware for YEARS before the 3000s even came out, and still NO ONE (at least from what I can tell in the states) uses them. I still have yet to see a single Denon player in a club, let alone a mixer. It's like that market completely ignored them and simply waited for the 3000s to come out. And when they were difficult af to find, they just waited for them to come into stock.

Not as nice as Denon but can be made to work cheaply enough with small kit that fits in your backback. Im a Denon guy myself. I like returning to these reviews after the fact to see how they hold up. Returning to this one in December 2023, after most of us have been outside and back in clubs and at festivals for at least 1 year. Firstly, this is still a great overall review of the unit. But the question still remains: how many people who are in the market for DJ-oriented, turntable replacement media players play in clubs enough to warrant the inexcusably massive price delta between the Pioneer CDJ 3000 and the Denon SC6000?
Even allowing for the unusual difficulty of actually buying an SC6000 in the USA right now, it seems all the arguments about the CDJ hinge mostly on “club standard.” We’re back outside for a year now: How many of us are playing in clubs?

If they're smart they'll figure out a cohesive strategy based on the 3000 and start bringing out revamped lower-priced models. Mojaxx I have full respect on your reviews hence, my subscription to your channel. but on this segment I think its your opinion on weak facts. You sounded like a product endorser than a reviewer by parroting Pioneer’s “industry standard” card where you know there is a product out there who beats the CDJ3000 in almost all aspects. What baffles me is you didn’t or can’t even mention the competition’s name, it’s a red flag for a paid review. I have no brand loyalty, I can afford the best gear to buy for my personal use but I am very wary on how I spend my hard earned money by researching, watching unbiased reviewers and comparing products and buyer’s feedbacks as well. With that said, I somewhat disagree on your opinion on this segment.

  • @Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND
    @Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND 2 роки тому

Mojaxx you should do an educative episode talking about Digital summing e digital quantisation vs Analog summing, how we humans hear the sound ( analog ), because the majority of DJs are deeply ignorant on the metter even some big cats on the industry don't have the minimal basics, why do this, because i think that might be very helpful for people to make more wise and better quality choices spending less money instead of getting screwed by the marketing of big corporations.
CDJs are just good souncards with jog-wheel and buttons same is the mixer (the summing of the tracks happen in digital domain 0s & 1s and is digitally quantised than converted which artificial summing as it is mathematically quantised), by simply using traktor, serato etc + a sound card like RME, Antelope and a quality Analog mixer the result would be much cheaper and of a higher quality in terms of sound perceived by the audience and no need to pull out 10000$ every 4 years.
CDj has more the purpose to make DJs look that they are doing something where in reality they don't do much creatively speaking .
People get partisanship about WAV or LP which are both great and there is not such big difference between but the real huge difference is the digital summing (artificial quantisation) vs analog summing (natural summing).
Sound is more HIFI and better for human ear if mixing 2 digital files in an analog mixer than mixing 2 LP in a digital mixer.

@Mike Beats, After using them for awhile, my first concern about the placement of the 8 cues pads is gone. I also own a SC6000M and I don’t feel it any better below the jog on the Denon, than under the screen on the 3000. I’ve never hit any button by mistake on the 3000, while playing with the cues.
I do prefer the hard touch of the 3000, than the soft touch that I have on my 6000, S11 or Rane One.
They are bright enough in dark or sunny environment (and I have bad eyes). Talking about brightness, that’s a big problem on the SC6000, as the buttons are not bright enough.
The cues are color coded. What I prefer on the 3000 over the 6000, is the unique 8 cues line, mixing hot cues and loops. Hot cues are in colors (or not, depending on the preferences) and loops are in orange. I like the fact that I can do 2 hot cues / 1 loop / 3 hot cues / 2 loops (just an example). Instead of having 8 hot cues on a layer and 8 loops on a second layer on the 6000, such as the controllers does.
It’s all a matter of preference (and budget). Like 99% of people, I feel that Pioneer is selling the 3000 for way too high. I’ve got my first one in Dec 2020 for 2290 euros and the second one for 2600 euros… Denon has also raised up their prices at 1800 euros for the SC6000 and 2000 euros for the SC6000M.

DVS doesn't apply to me, so the standalone hardware's limitations, by comparison, don't apply to me at the moment.
Denon is gaining ground, but the 3000s are the most complete decks that Pioneer have ever released. The differences are purely proprietary.
For the average user, the 3000 is superb! But, as the tech evolves, and the up and coming generation begins to demand more, Denon will more than likely come up ahead.
Pioneer don't appear to be willing to move beyond what the Pros demand. Not even taking into account that the next generation of pros will demand more.
Like I said in a recent Reddit convo.....standalone hardware won't peak until' they can match, feature for feature, what DVS software can achieve.
Pioneer clearly aren't on that path. Denon are, however!!!

Thank god I bought the full James Hype and a V10 just after launch. Bars in the north where I live are strictly bring your own kit, not a chance they even bought NXS2. Those all in one controllers I really struggle to play on but sadly i’m seeing more and more booths physically sized for them with bar owners saying “Well thats what DJ’s use isn’t it?” NO!!!! My dislike is the cramming of things onto screens and no thought for people with accessibility issues. I’ve done gigs with controllers and every time i’ve caught the pads while leaning over to get to see the screen. Of course, some would say us less genetically perfect people should not be out DJ’ing.

There is absoloutly no reasonable point why they won. They just won, because it's Pioneer and they're clubstandard. That's like saying "the iPhone is the best smartphone, because it's an iPhone" - that's just plain dumb.
They're underpowered, way overpriced, have a dramatic lack of features and the compatition is way stronger.
That's not a long term review and comparision, it's a statemant of a fanboy.

As a long time Traktor user (Since the 2000s), I had bought the MK1 XDJ-1000s for exactly the purpose the CDJ-3000 is made for.. However at the time I never loved the sound quality on them.. I ended up using them in HID mode with a Xone PX5 mixer... I sold my XDJ-1000s to get the first Denon Prime SC5000+X1800 kit because it promised to be the "Traktor in a box" solution allowing me to leave the laptop behind.. Fast forward to 4 years later and I still have and love the Denon Kit (It truly was future proofed). I use them for mobile DJ style events (wedding and corporate etc)...
Where that leaves me today on the topic of Pioneer CDJ3000, they look great. I'm sure they sound excellent and are a pleasure to play on.. But as a home/end user it isn't something I would see myself buying. I am not tied down to any particular platform (even though I still create my playlists in Rekordbox and export them to other software).. I do understand however that some people get comfortable with a particular brand experience and will never change (like iPhone owners for example).. And as such, if the majority of DJs are already more comfortable on Pioneer Rekordbox / Hardware.. I don't see the "competition" ever being able to sway those users...

@@ChrisBlade. I won't lie, I REALLY liked the PX5. It was still an analog mixer that sounded great when summing audio sources (layering extra loops on top of tracks etc...). I have since picked up a Xone 96 as well..
That being said, the X1800 sounds great as well. Especially when using the onboard soundcard (with Serato or Traktor for example). I appreciate both mixers for different reasons.. in the same way we can appreciate cars for different reasons.
These days, I mostly use the X1800 Mixer with the SC5000 decks.
If you are looking to buy one over the other, I'd suggest not leaving it exclusively up to the sound quality alone.. I'd also consider how and where you want to use each mixer.. (with the onboard soundcard, or external decks etc).

Hey Mojax, love the channel - long time follower. However, I am very surprised that more noise hasn't been made about how the new APU handles interpolation of tracks, specifically with Master Tempo and the "Key Sync" enabled. The new processing power has SIGNIFICANTLY improved the implementation of the MT algorithm - DJ Ravine's initial review did a small side by side comparison with the NXS2 and it's like night and day.
And the Key Sync feature is just not spoken about enough. AFAIK Digital DJ Tips are the only ones to correctly identify just how elegant the system works when mixing harmonically. These are capable of extreme manipulation of the source content with incredible results.
I would love to see an in depth feature covering these aspects of the players! Obviously all of the other improvements are nothing to be snuffed at - but I really feel like this is what it's worth paying the big bucks for!

Pioneer has dropped the ball, if they have give up to soundswitch , then they should let soundswittch intergrate to rekordbox, or just allow any USB dongle to work. I pay a subscription already for rekordbox ... no idea why rekordbox lock you down to a proprietary dongle too...

I would really love streaming in the 3000s. I have a pair and love them, but that feature would be great to just test out tunes before I bought them.
I never thought I needed it but I also love the cue link feature, but clubs never seem to get it working despite my technical rider telling them how to set it up 🤣
I’d never used beat jump until I got 3000s and now I use it loads.
Cue link and beat jump are both available in the 2000s though I think.
Oh and the 3000 screen is SO nice.

@@Mojaxx these will even make me ditch the S9/S11 one day. so crazy how they managed to get all important functions on the top layer of a single unit. and the way the platter sounds while scratching is insanely accurate.
btw: I love that you put your 7 inch adapter image on the virtual deck display on the 3000s 😂 looks so cool 👍🏻

It’s a shame it’s still selling so well, as the Denon is much better. But people like familiarity, that’s the only reason they sell as they are not the best, and they are expensive (overpriced)

there is no difference between the cdj 3000 and any dj controller. didnt like them from day one
with a lot of cons. no scrolling by touch - no internal anylize for songs - no streaming - no extra function on the hotcue pads - over prices compared to competitors. ill stick with the all in one opus quad and denons

@@djstuc your right they do. But they don’t revolutionise anything. They watch others and then implement their own version in a more polished and better way. They focus on things working reliably before they go for anything extreme. Folding phones is a good example of this

@@djstuc its true when steve jobs was around they used to be more original in innovation but thats not the case in recent years. Look at what other laptop makers and phone makers are doing and its hard to press a case for apple being at the forefront anymore., They are more for consolidation now. nothing wrong with that though. Innovation for the sake of innovation is not always needed.

@@djstuc If you do your research you'll know that apple outsources its chip production and that the M1 processors are all based on ARM technology (not apple). They have design input but its mainly on how they integrate into the apple ecosystem. Hence the amazing performance with mainly apple software. It also a political gain as they dont need to rely on intel anymore. Its smart business sense rather than innovation. But to be fair we are moving away from my original point. Pioneer DJ did innovate in their early days with the CDJ and some of their mixers which are now industry standard. They Havent done much since because they dont need to! The CDJ 3000 is a good example of this. It does the job with just enough improvments over the previosu generation. There are similarities between Pioneer DJ and Apple in my opinion but of course we can agree to disagree.

@@djstuc Thats interesting. thanks for sharing your setup. I love DVS and i run my 1200s through a rane 70 at the present (prior to this i had a S9!). I have a pioneer DDJJ rev7 as my secondary/ mobile setup. Believe it or not Im a complete apple fan and have an imac, macbook pro, iphone, applewatch, ipad, apple tv.....completely sucked into the ecosystem! I have one gaming PC which I use for certain programs including streaming. Maybe my comparison is a little simplistic but it occurred to me that both apple and pioneer had innovated more in their past and now maybe resting on their laurels. We techies are always hoping for more innovation and changes but the majority of people dont care! They will still install pioneer CDJs in their clubs because the standard is set and hard to change.I will still get the latest apple tech when it comes out but mainly because i know it will "just work". I miss watching apple keynotes and thinking "wow! thats amazing!" Regarding the 1200s.... they are an icon in the DJ community for sure and I love them. I do think CDJs have their place in history though as jobbing Dhs converted to digital mediums. Hence Id still give some props to Pioneer. I do remember the previosu standard- the Denon rack mount CD players which every club had prior to the table top design of the pioneers. At the time i bought the CDJ 500 and was blown away. But yes its not the same impact that the 1200s had on the birth of DJ culture.

Still waiting to try the 3000's, so glad you've made this vid Mojaxx! Even if I had the money it's gonna be a while with the global chip issues to purchase, but always appreciate your solid & honest views whenever a new video is uploaded. I hope Pioneer take note for the need of a cheaper media player so we can leave laptops out of the booth forever!

That reworked jog wheel didn't age well. Its my main gripe about 3k's. It feels great, but don't leave it in direct sunlight for more then 15 min, or you may find yourself replacing the outer ring and sheet switch under it at a $150+ in parts alone (that wont likely be in stock STILL at the end of 2024!) Ask me how I know, and my other repair clients know. I replaced 6 just last summer alone, and I live in a small to med size city. The outer ring is made of WAY thinner/softer plastic, and they decided it would be a good idea to attach the sheet switch to it that cant be removed without a new replacement. ($65+ ea) Also the convoluted jog tension system never seems to work well, and becomes less functional as they age. They should have just kept the previous design. ie from the XZ / NXS2. They had it right the first time imho
