This is cute and yet embarrassing to watch. I wonder how often Edelgard acted like this in secret. I don't think even Hubert will be able to deal with seeing something like this.
She hates rats and loves cats. They mentioned her hate for rats in 3 houses and elaborated on why she loves cats because of their ability to remove vermin like rats. I guess she views spending time with a cat as a guilty pleasure because Lindhardt caught her. She usually puts out an air of authority and proper conduct in front of others so I'm quite happy there are times she relaxes and appreciates the calmer/smaller side of things.
The amout of subtext in this support is unbelievable - the way Edelgard is implied to see herself in the cat in that they are providing a service for people while Lindhart subtly questioning Edelgard about her actions in declaring war and studying her response in his usual manner - that and the scene is both adorable and hilarious, maybe one of the top supports of the game.
The supports in the game are so different from houses. It's weird to go from "hey, it's b support time, let me get to the crux of exactly how we feel with brutal precision" to "let's discuss how we feel by dancing around it with a seemingly innocent analogy as the focus." The creative change is interesting.
lmao what a load of bunk. How is Edelgard implied to see herself in the cat, if anything the support draws a parallel between Linhardt and the cat and it's pretty obvious why, because Linhardt lazes around all day just like cats typically do. You actually think Linhardt is subtly claiming Edelgard is living selfishly and people only follow Edelgard because she's cute? In Houses, Linhardt tells Hubert "You and Edelgard work far too hard. I mean it." Clearly he doesn't see Edelgard in the way you claim the game is suggesting.
Linhardt saying "snuggle-wuggle" is definitely gold, don't get me wrong, but can we take a moment to appreciate Tara Platt's voice acting for this support? Her Edelgard never ceases to amaze/entertain me.
I love how Edelgard states "Linhardt, if you aspire to be a pet, that is your decision and yours alone" especially considering how much of a lapdog Hubert and Monica are.
I'd argue that Monica is the real lapdog, Hubert's more of a German Shepard. Monica would never do anything to upset Edelgard (even stating that she would've been happy to be sacrificed for Edelgard's vision, which puts Rodrigue's "He died like a true knight" to shame). Hubert, on the other hand, has his own agenda regarding her plans. They share the same vision, but he's willing to go behind her back and disobey orders in order to see it through. He even admits as much when Edelgard questions him in their 3 Houses Supports and offers his life up (since some people would consider his actions treasonous), knowing full well that Edelgard would never take it because of how much she trusts him. The fact that Edelgard considers Monica expendable but Hubert indispensable really showcases the gulf between the two.
I feel like there should be Fire Emblem Three Hopes cat compilation at this point, with how many Support Conversations involve cats in this game; Edelgard and Linhardt, Felix and Mercedes, Jeritza and Shez. That and trying to figure out if it’s the same cat in all of the Support Conversations.

Not only did she experience extreme childhood trauma like Dimitri (and rose above it instead of being broken by it), she also fights for the sake of her allies, abandoning victory to save them despite their blunders (as seen with Lonato and his preemptive attack on the Kingdom). Claude, on the other hand, had no problem sacrificing Randolph for victory in one battle, despite his alliance with the Empire. People often criticize her because of her war of aggression, but fail to keep in mind that her war was against the Central church of Seiros (specifically Rhea), NOT against the Kingdom or the Alliance. The war against the Kingdom only occurred because Dimitri offered them sanctuary. The war against the Alliance was actually started by Claude originally (since in 3 Houses, Count Gloucester straight up allies with the Empire at the start of the war). The character was rewritten in 3 Hopes to be more morally upright, but under Claude's urging, faked a surrender, which is considered a war crime, so even then, Claude was still a backstabbing liar (especially if you don't recruit Byleth, as he breaks the very treaty and alliance that he himself signed).

Claude on the other hand just wants to become the new ruler of Fodlan himself and in Three Hopes they even make an actuall alliance and he himself makes killing the dragon pope his personal issue. Jeritza actually makes sense though. Like Mercedes says, he's actually very kind and sweet, to the point where he had to create the Death Knight persona to deal with the trauma he endured in House Bartelz. This is a common reaction by people who are gentle who are backed into a corner (in Emile's case, it was hearing that his father planned to hunt Mercedes down and force her into being his wife to bear a Crest child, thanks Rhea). He had to protect his sister but his heart couldn't handle the violence, so he developed a split personality. Emile himself is distant and antisocial because he's afraid of himself and that he'll eventually kill everyone around him because of the Death Knight. He's a tragic character and he may never truly heal from his past, though there is hope in his interactions with Mercedes (as an ally or enemy) as even in his Death Knight persona, he shows pain and grief at the thought of hurting her, even surrendering (AS THE DEATH KNIGHT) if you recruit him in Dimitri's route.

To be honest, to me, this Edelgard and the one in three houses aren't that different but they are executed differently. They are the same person, I honestly always saw edelgard as the kind of person to secretly cuddle cats and baby animals in a corner, there even was fanart of this, mainly because Edelgard does show a lot of her soft side in her own route especially in her supports with Byleth but not only. She is extremely dedicated in helping everyone around her, especially her close friends. She is also very open minded to their criticism surrounding her world view, she sees it as a challange for improvement. She is aware she is not perfect nor is her plan, but she tried to do most of what she had. In this game her opportunities allowed her to take care of Those who slither early, (also they literally cut two chapters from the black eagles route despite it being in the game code, probably because they were rushed. Said route was definitely going to be focused on that as it is described in the post game that they did indeed fight TWSITD in 3 houses). On another note, I don't see how Edelgard can possibly be a villain if you truly look at Dimitri Rhea and Claude . Claude does a lot of questionable things, and it was shown in this game that he indeed also dislikes Rhea, Dimitri probably has a higher kill count than Edelgard out of revenge, and Rhea hates humanity burning cities just for a small advantage in battle. But if you look at it from another perspective, none of them are bad people. Hell, Edelgard Dimitri and Rhea are traumarised af, and most of the things they do make sense. I also always appreciated Edelgard for not doing anything she does out of vengeance, despite growing up chained up as a lab rat in a basement, being the only survivor of cruel experiments, experiments that ultimately killed her family. She does indeed want to make a better world. And I do see her world as working. I just feel bad that Rhea Dimitri and Edelgard's ideals are just too different for them to reach a common ground. I do believe it is possible, but not under the circumstances given to them. In three houses tho, they do this almost if not psychological perspective play. Anyone who will go for Rhea or Dimitri will think Edelgard is a villain, even in Claude's route, while Rhea could he considered a villain in Crimson flower, Dimitri just hating on Edelgard due to a literal misunderstanding and wanting to kill her for it , and Claude just going with the flow. In this game, they focused more on balance between them.
Yep, wish she cared about all the innocents she killed or the commoners who could care less about her conquest or the families torn apart because of her insane imperialist conquest 😔

Wish she'd feed the families she destroyed with her war
The circus is over there
not her problem anyway.
Yep, wish she cared about all the innocents she killed or the commoners who could care less about her conquest or the families torn apart because of her insane imperialist conquest 😔
Dimitrii, Rhea and Claude did the same
@@monte8901 nah they're nothing alike, Claude, Dimitri & Rhea rightfully defended themselves from an aggressor, they're justified, but Edel isn't. The invader is evil & fighting against them is heroic, it's common sense, I can't believe I had to write this lol
