People who believe in tongues as a gift dont have any other gift they fight for as much. Strange how they dont fight for the gift of understanding with the same passion.
Actually, that is untrue. it doesn't matter whether I "believe" in tongues. The bible clearly states people spoke in tongues. Secondly, we are to pray for the best gifts, not just tongues, i'd love to have the gift of prophecy, gift of healing, gift of wisdom. I'd like them all if it was possible, is it possible? you might say no, I say it is.
I don't speak in tongues or anything like that, but your statement is ridiculous. I know many people who believe in that, and they do not cling to and fight for tongues more than anything else, including the gift of understanding. 😂
Something about this guy pulls at my heartstrings lol. Maybe because he’s a New Orleans baby like myself, but I think there’s something VERY genuine about him and his love for The Most High. I’ll be praying for him to be set free in truth. Just like I do for Corey and his followers lol 😆😅 I love ALL y’all.
Good morning thank God that there are brothers and sisters in the faith of God that does not want us to be ignorant of the word of God Brother Corey this brother would never look at the word the same again , I myself was taught in some of the same matters and had to repent to God and others for teaching in that manner .🙏🏾💜
Good morning brother by no means I’m I calling you ignorant just stating the word Of God. You are a praying I’ll be praying for your wife’s also God bless and keep you and family 🙏🏾💜
hi I did not pray to stop speaking in tongues. I just stop speaking in tongues. It was hard at first, but that I was coerced into interpreting tongues. I didn’t know what I was saying and I did not want to be cursing God in any kind of way so I asked the Holy Spirit to help me, whenever I had the urge to speak and I was it it’s been a year for me now and doing a lot of self evaluation getting closer to God and really learning his word that Hebrew helps out a lot 😃 Blessings to you, my brother, grace, and peace and mercy 🙏🏾💜
@hayeschrist1 I agree. The NATURAL person doesn't accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they're folly, (foolish, stupid, showing lack of common sense ) to him. He's not able to understand them because they're SPIRITUALLY discerned. Why do you think you're so spiritual? You seem to be like the NATURAL person you described. Do you think a display of emotion is a sign that you're spiritual? Self-control and an ability to accept constructive critiques or commentary in general, encourages thought and is a necessary quality for natural AND spiritual development. You don't need to be spiritual to decern this, but you would have to be spiritually enlightened to NOT wear your feelings on your sleeve. (lol)
Isn’t all unknown language nonsense and gibberish? Is you go to a remote jungle and they are speaking an unknown tongue is it not gibberish? Unless of course you know every language dialect of ever person on earth?
This was a perfect example of how I realized how important KNOWING the Bible is! The guy is a nice Christ follower it seems but he needs to study his Bible and follow not what he thinks is "miraculous" events, I hope he listens to this video and see his faults...
I sure admire brother Corey's patience. One thing gets to me about the way "tongues" is practised in all the churches where I have seen / heard it : people are speaking in tongues at the same time without any interpretation. This practice is contrary to the command given by Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:26-28. "What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God." Now, given that this command is inspired of God, how can the Spirit be moving people to disobey God and pray in tongues all at the same time without interpretation ? The only conclusion possible is that the "tongues" as practiced is not inspired by the Spirit. I'm not saying that authentic tongues does not still exist in the Church today. I'm saying that, by the measure described above, all I've observed to date is fake. From what I've observed, "tongues" can be any of the following 1) an expression of emotion 2) a filler, to give the person time to think about what or how to pray, to avoid an awkward silence 3) an exercise which the person believes provides a spiritual benefit - it builds them up, or enables them to pray mysteries to God Either way for the most part it seems to be a behavior learnt by copying others, often under peer pressure to conform and be part of the group or pressure not to be left out concerning some perceived spiritual benefit
There's only one Holy Spirit. You cannot be inspired by the Holy Spirit and not be in agreement with the Bible ( written by holy men of God inspired by the Holy Spirit).2 Peter 1:19-21
To be honest, I think this guy represents many of us in the body of Christ. We have basic biblical concepts and love for our leaders without clear Biblical understanding apart from sensationalism, experience and personal opinion. This stream is definitely needed to challenge believers to study and KNOW the Word of God with intent to seek accurancy.
Being raised in a Pentecostal Oness church, it's VERY HARD for people to REALIZE the Truth about speaking in a EARTHLY LANGUAGE.,Repeating short phrase,IS NOT a LANGUAGE,but I truly believe this people are during this SO CALLED speaking in Tongues, are during it as a PRAISE(God DWELL in these PRAISES) What I've noticed that EACH CHURCH has their on Babbling (Tongue) ,so this CLEARLY tells me the babbling is something they HEAR,has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with (SPIRIT GIVING UTTERANCE).
I feel like Acts 2:37 shows that it was Peter and the apostles only speaking in tongues. The crowd ask them what to do. Why would they only ask them and not the 120 also? It seems as though the upper room and the day of Pentecost are separate days. Why start chapter 2 with "When the day of Pentecost had come they were all together." Why not just say "on that day of Pentecost"?
Exactly true my friend. Most people do not know that women were not gathered together with men on the day of Pentecost. For that reason they could not have received the ability to speak in tongues. There is no scriptural proof. Yes there were disciples gathered together in the upper room. But women were not part of the gathering on the day of Pentecost.
I can sense the frustration that Corey has hearing this brother, trying to explain to him was more difficult than I thought. He was adding to the Word and giving us his private interpretation of the scriptures. Funny how he mentioned Kathryn krik, she actually said recently; "we cannot put God in a box" insinuating the obvious. I cannot believe he attended bible college with the way he handles the Word of God. This was cringeworthy at his expense. Let's not go above that which is written.
How do you know if someone has the gift of interpretation if no one speaks in tongues? Do people just know they have the gift of interpretation? Just asking?
What does Bro Chris mean when he says, "The Spirit took over his tongue?" According to 1 Corinthians 14:32 in the Bible, prophets have control over their spirits. This means that the Holy Spirit doesn't take over a person's spirit to the point where they lose restraint. Instead, people who legitimately express a spiritual gift can choose when and how to start or stop expressing it. For example, Paul instructed people who speak in tongues not to do so if they weren't chosen to contribute to a service, or if no one was available to interpret what they said. (Not if only the person speaking can interpret) I have yet to witness a service where Christians are speaking in tongues and someone that claims that they have interpretation, actually interprets what is being said.
In Acts 2:4 the first time we see tongues, the believers who were filled did NOT know the languages that they were speaking, it wasn’t them speaking on their own, it was the Holy Spirit taking over their tongue and speaking through them. If you don’t speak in tongues, you wouldn’t know what I’m saying. When you speak in tongues…the Holy Spirit who lives on the inside of you tangibly take over your tongue and speak through you like it says in Matthew 10
Brothers and sisters in the faith, we have to do a much better job of listening. This doctrine on tongues is not nearly as difficult as some have made it. Unfortunately for many believers, religious tradition and personal experience has taken authority over the scriptures. In addition, many of those who read the scriptures on tongues, read only certain scriptures, and they often read and apply those out of context. Personally, I think Corey was giving him way too much information to process. It might have been good to identify one or two points that could have easily been proven by scripture and let him try to digest that. Let's pray that we can continue to at least come to the table respectfully over this controversial issue. It has to be addressed because it is such a divisive issue.
I agree. I love Corey but he was giving way too much information. That is why it is good to have a moderator. Whether it is this informal conversation/debate or a more formal one.
There is no doctrine on tongues. The Bible does not teach that everyone should try a speak in tongues ( languages). Tongues ( languages ) is not evidence of having the Holy Spirit. John the Baptist was full of the holy Spirit from his mother's womb and did no miracles. Luke 1:15, John 10 :41
@hayeschrist1 Well, that is still a reason why there should be a moderator. You can call it sidebars but Corey has so many examples of reasons why people are faking tongues that he brings all these things in rapid fire. It is not that he does this because he 'doesn't want to deal with his unbelief', he does it because he is flabbergasted people would make stuff up regarding the gift of tongues and he is trying to use Scripture and real like examples to back his position up.
This Giberish Doctrine Should Never Have Gotten Wings to Fly Nationwide! Consider the numerous textbooks we studied throughout our high school education, and yet, the fundamental principles of the Bible remain widely misunderstood. This observation suggests to me that believers have not had access to genuine and effective Bible teachers.
Please explain William Seymour and what happened at Azusa Street revival these people testify to speaking in tongues under the power of the Holy Ghost. They refer to Acts 2. There is a documentary on the Azusa Street Revival in 1906.
The gentleman was moving constantly while Brother Minor would speak, he was doing so many things that became very distracting, which looked to me like he really did not want to sit through and listen when Brother Minor would speak, so watching that was very disrespectful. God help us with understanding only what the word says about tongues and not to add or take away from Your word! This can be very confusing for folks watching and seeking a relationship with the Lord. The good news is the bottom line, which is folks coming to The Lord and building a relationship with Him! Brother Minor is a gift because he goes by the word and that is what we all need to do as well, as the body of the Christ. The enemy will have Gods people stuck on things that are not as pressing as folks getting saved. Keep speaking the truth as you do Brother Cory and May the Lord cover you and your family’ going out and coming in, in the matchless and mighty name of Jesus, amen!
That's because Corey kept interrupting him, and it was bothering him. I don't speak in tongues either, but I did and do notice how Corey has a problem with interrupting people and calling them out for the same things that he does.
1 Corinthians 14 King James Version 14 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. 2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. 5 I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. 6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? 7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped? 8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? 9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. 10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification. 11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me. 12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church. 13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. 14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. 16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest? 17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified. 18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: 19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. 20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men. 21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord. 22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe…..
46:12 what was first mentioned regarding the keeping of the 4th commandment Sabbath doesn’t apply here? When there are no EXPLICIT change to the 4th commandment? Just curious why it wouldn’t apply for the Sabbath?
The Sabbath has not changed. The Sabbath is rooted in creation, observed before Mt. Sinai, is perpetually binding Moral Law of God. What law is written on the heart of believers in the new covenant -- tablets of stone to tablets of human heart = the decalogue
Cant deliver the Gospel if no one understands. It will confuse people...or even worse scare people away from wanting to listen anymore. This happened at my wedding due to my pentecostal friend.... marrying me and my wife. If i was not on my knees I would have took the mic out of his hands. I have no idea what I or the people I invited are agreeing to during his prayer. Not to mention I have family in the crowd that are SDA... Literally doing exactly what the church of Corinth was doing.
If you record someone that is truly speaking in tongues through the gifting from the Holy Spirit, yes they would not understand that recording as it is in a foreign language. But while they are actually speaking, they will know what they are saying. It is the power of the Holy Spirit that will make the words coming of the mouth the different language.
@endtimeswatchers8743 @hayeschrist1 im not interested in debates, but one side is wrong. It’s important for us to question our beliefs and go back and make sure if what we believe correctly aligns with scripture. I didn’t see nearly enough scripture discussed in this conversation. It was more about Greek definitions. The dictionary isn’t inspired by God. Scripture is, we need God’s definitions.
@hayeschrist1 this is how I seen the tongues work one person will speak and another interprets in English and it's the message that God placed on the speaker's heart, God is vindicated in three's, tongues goes before the word, it's times where a person will lead prayer and it's right with the word, because we hold him to his divine promise, if two are three are gathered in my name I will be in the midst of them, if I may explain a experience that I had speaking in tongues by myself it happened once, and what happened I feel at liberty to share if you desire?
At 27:00 minutes he said “the Holy Spirit can do whatever He wants” Question, so he is saying that God the Holy Spirit can and does go against what God the Holy Spirit wrote?
I can offer to translate as a Korean speaker if there is an audio recording of that..... Otherwise, I cannot vouch for the experience of it. Too many people speaking in these 'tongues' are way overwhelmed with human emotions of sentimentality and all.
Gods language is parabolic, imagery and prophetic, the same as the Prophets spoke. Jesus spoke in the same way. Pharisees (the religious leaders) did not understand His parables. “Stammering” also means to mock, which is what the Pharisees thought Jesus was doing to them which angered them.
@hayeschrist1 I might be misunderstanding...but you were trying to use Matthew henry to confirm your stand on angelic tongues which is what the commentary was not doing at all.
@hayeschrist1 I see what you are saying but I'm still going to say that a single sentence with colon like "1. The gift of tongues:" does not mean he's saying that there's a specific angelic tongues because knowing the tongues of men and speaking it without learning it for once or knowing will be called having the gift of tongues. I hope you get what I'm saying
@hayeschrist1 If it's true that your pastor spoke in Korean that he doesn't know before, then glory be to God, I have not point of contention with that at all. But just because your pastor prays in tongues without interpretation doesn't mean it can't gibberish just because it's your pastor, there's no way to verify that which what I think corey was trying to say and why Paul keep saying there should be an interpretation to the corinthians.
@hayeschrist1 You can't say it both because Matthew Henry never puts the tongues of angel in 1cor.13:1 into specific and call it "angelic tongues" like you did, infact, Matthew Henry specifically said "talk like an angel" there's a big difference
@hayeschrist1 You can't just call a scriptural disagreement an unbelief. You said the guy on remnant radio said he spoke Croatian, all glory to God if that is true and thank God he never said it an unknown language called "angelic tongues" Come to think of it, after Jesus said this signs shall follow those who believe, why do you think Paul who speaks in tongue had to correct the corinthians concerning this same sign? Why not leave them and let them do it without however they like without interpretation? Was it because of unbelief? No! Could it be because it's getting out of hand and out of context? Yes! Because that's exactly why Paul wrote to them
Angels and men aren't on the same level so why would man need to speak in an angelic language for God to communicate with man. Even Jesus was made lower than the angels and spoke aramaic or hebrew a known earthly language native to that region.
@hayeschrist1 My brother, I'm not saying anything is complicated, I fully understand what your trying to say. I was Charismatic/Pentecostal for a long time. I think you missed the point of the question, but yeah 1 Corinthians 14:2 is not saying that "praying in the spirit" means speaking in tongues. For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. 1 Corinthians 14:2 Where in there does it say praying in the spirit means speaking in tongues? It's just not there, someone has to read that into the text and then it's not consistent with other scriptures. Yeah you have to read that into the text based on a presupposition.
I agree. I am not saying this person it, but there are so many that lie through their teeth. For what? Makes no sense. Tongues, power of instant healing, demon slaying. It is wild
I have heard the explanation and the examples of tongues are to speak in an earthly language and to give worship to God which I think most people say they are doing at church to get away with not having to interrupt. However, in the old testament God divided the people with language and scattered them and in the new testament to make sure all has a opportunity to receive the free gift of salvation He sends the Holy Spirit to enable the apostle to speak in different languages so that his gospel can be delivered to all of the world. I always ask myself why didn't any of Jesus disciple heard him giving worship to the Father in a heavenly language when he prayed for them? He prayed with understanding so that they can understand.
What I've noticed about this is that people keep saying that God can do whatever he wants. That if the Holy Spirit wants to work he will. That's true yes, but I feel like people don't want to accept that God won't contradict his word regardless of how you're feeling about things. God set specific parameters for tongues and the interpretation of tongues so that we know how to deal with and use these gifts properly. God says what he means when he says it so personal opinions and feelings aren't going to change what the word of God says. If what happens doesn't align with scripture, then just accept that what happened wasn't from God and stop trying to bring God to our level. This obsession with tongues and wanting to speak in tongues is causing people to look for God in an area where he's not showing up the way people are assuming He is. Unfortunately, it's easy for people to get wrapped up in this because any kind of random gibberish in the Church is honored and thought to be an "Angelic language" just because they don't understand it.
@hayeschrist1 I'd rather you just tell me you didn't like what I said than to be combative and tell me to find where "gibberish" is in the bible. But alright, "So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will be speaking into the air. 10 There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning, 11 but if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me. 12 So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church." 1 Co 14:9-12. Short form: Don't speak gibberish and know what you're saying.
@hayeschrist1 I've never read the NET so that means nothing to me. You're too worried about the word I used and not the whole picture, that's the problem. No one is saying that actual tongues are gibberish, I'm saying that what the church currently thinks is tongues is gibberish. The bible literally says unintelligible speech (βαθύγλωσσον) in the context of languages that can be translated. There is not one interpretation of what the church currently thinks tongues is. How is it that everyone that speaks in "tongues" all sound the exact same, are always doing this out of the order that God ordained for the use of tongues, and yet I have never seen one verified interpretation of any of it? You even used an example from your church that you say was recorded which would have been critical evidence to your claim and yet didn't bring it? Do you know why there isn't interpretation? Because todays so called "tongues" is just gibberish with no meaning or context. Paul doesn't want us to speak actual tongues out loud because if there is no interpretation for it, it's useless to you and to everyone else especially if you don't understand it. He ALSO says that you should have some kind of understanding of the tongues that you speak or you're just talking to the Air. The church's current "tongues" of today are not edifying you nor the church, if anything its creating a system of fakers that are being pressured into speaking something into the air so that they feel accepted by the church. "There are many different languages in the world, and every language has meaning. 11But if I don’t understand a language, I will be a foreigner to someone who speaks it, and the one who speaks it will be a foreigner to me. 12And the same is true for you. Since you are so eager to have the special abilities the Spirit gives, seek those that will strengthen the whole church." 1 Cor 14:10 "So, anyone who speaks in tongues should pray also for the ability to interpret what has been said. 14For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don’t understand what I am saying." 1 Cor 14: 13 "Well then, what shall I do? I will pray in the spirit, and I will also pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand." 1 Cor 14:15 Praying in the Spirit is praying to God with the Holy Spirit's leading in what you are praying for. The Spirit leading you in prayer does not always mean praying in a tongue. It can be something as simple as the Spirit guiding your prayers to speak about certain topics or issues. That does not mean what you're praying is going to turn into some "angelic language" or foreign speech, it's just prayer with the Holy Spirit's help. If the Holy Spirit wants to lead people in tongues, then he will, not you or the church randomly spouting out syllables. When God does something with gifts, all through the bible it's done on HIS own time not whenever YOU feel like it.
Just because God knows what is in our hearts does not mean we should communicate unintelligibly with him. Idk how anyone can build a strong relationship with someone when they're conversing with them in a way where they're not actually saying anything that they can understand and work through with God on a level basis. If anything, doing that is lazy communication that no sensible person would want, and I doubt God would want that either.
Corey I was not raised in church even though I would visit with friends so that’s where I knew of tongues so once I gave my life to Christ and a Pentecostal church, that’s what my goal was to learn to speak in tongues because I felt like I knew nothing of this new life so I felt like it would make me sound more intelligent and I would fit in so I always prayed and tongues out loud and the church because everyone was doing it and I felt like we wasn’t enough word , even though I fell in love with reading the word that may be I’m still in the Faith now I just love Jesus and always have as a little girl and growing up great grandmother plant seeds🙏🏾💜
In Acts 2, there is no interpretation of tongues. If that were the case, then all of the disciples spoke with the gift of interpretation of tongues, contrary to 1 Cor 12. They simply prophesied magnifying God as is common with those who receive the baptism with the Spirit. As they prophesied the unbelievers heard them in their own language. But they also had stammering lips, as indicated by Isaiah 28. There is also the manifestation of unknown tongues in those that are Spirit baptized, as in 1 Cor 14:2. There the word "unknown" is in italics, added for clarity. We also see in Acts 19:6 those that received the Spirit spoke in tongues and prophesied, glorifying God.
@hayeschrist1 well it’s not about doing it better than you. The reality is that if he’s not willing to accept it, Jesus himself would not persuade Corey. I would love to talk to you though man. Can we connect somehow?
Christopher claims that he is sticking only to what the Bible says, but quite frankly, his doctrine is about as fuzzy and blurred as his video image. Lord, please help him to see and understand or he won't.
@hayeschrist1 Good evening Christopher: I wish I could just blow this issue off until we get to heaven, but it causes far too much pain and division within the family of God. Whether it is done intentionally or unintentionally, false doctrines cause confusion and destruction. We each owe it to God and to our brothers and sisters in the faith to always be willing to recheck our theology. I can't tell you how many times I have gone back to the drawing board on this speaking in tongues issue, just to see if I overlooked something and made a mistake. HYPERBOLE As for hyperbole, here is the definition: Exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally: Paul used hyperbole several times in his writings. Carefully examine these examples of hyperbole: 1. IF I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. - 1Corinthians 13:1 2. IF I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and 3. IF I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 1Corinthians 13:2 4. IF I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. 1Corinthians 13:3 The main theme of 1Corinthians 13 was the necessity of Christians showing genuine love towards everyone, and Paul used exaggerated examples (hyperbole) to stress that point. Paul uses hyperbole again, this time to emphasize the importance of the church members (the body of Christ) working together in harmony and unity: 5. IF the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 1Corinthians 12:15 6. And IF the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 1Corinthians 12:16 7. IF the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 1Corinthians 12:17 We know darn well, that feet and ears do not talk. We also know that the whole body is not an eye, except in a horror movie. Paul used these exaggerated examples only to emphasize the importance unity in Christ's body. Once more Paul used hyperbole, this time to emphasize the authenticity of the gospel of Jesus Christ. 8. But even IF we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! Galatians 1:8 Anyone in their right mind knows that no angel from heaven is going to preach anything against the gospel. Notice the use of the word "IF" in each of the 8 examples I provided. IF I speak in the tongues of men and of angels IF I have the gift of prophecy IF I have a faith that can move mountains IF I give all I possess to the poor IF the foot should say IF the ear should say IF the whole body were an eye IF we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached Using the word IF, prevents them from being definitive statements, but when you remove the word "IF" the meaning of the verse changes. I speak in the tongues of men and of angels I have the gift of prophecy I have a faith that can move mountains I gave all I possess to the poor The foot says The ear says The whole body is an eye An angel from heaven preached a gospel other than the one we preached I believe Paul's references to tongues of angels was indeed hyperbole. The evidence supports it.
@hayeschrist1 Paul also use IF in Romans 10:9. Using the word IF makes it a conditional statement, not a definitive one. Meaning, you cannot not correctly use 1Corinthians 13:1 to support Paul speaking in tongues of angels simply because of the way it is written. That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 Christopher, I attempted to share with you why I and others genuinely believe that Paul was speaking hyperbolically. You seem to have an answer for everything. Now you bring up 1Corinthians 14:2 and 14:18. I am well aware of both of these verses. I will deal with the last one first. I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 1Corinthians 14:18 "IF" Paul was actually referring to a heavenly prayer language that he utilized in private, then this is a very interesting claim. How do you claim to do anything in private, more than someone else? What knuckle head would claim to masturbate more than someone else. How would you even know. Sometimes we cannot see the forest for the trees. The word TONGUES is a plural noun, referring to more than one language. This is grammar 101. The word TONGUE is a singular noun, referring to one particular language. On the day of Pentecost, the 12 apostles spoke in OTHER tongues (plural). Note: The scripture does not say that the apostles spoke in ANOTHER tongue/language. That would have been singular. Paul said he wished that the Corinthians all spoke in tongues (plural), referring to them being multilingual. (1Corinthians 14:5) Paul thanked God that he spoke in TONGUES more than all the other Corinthians. Again Paul used a plural noun. Paul was a polyglot who traveled extensively to preach the good news of Jesus. Whether Paul was able to speak different languages by natural education or the Holy Spirit's intervention, the Bible does not say. But here is what Paul does say: But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. 1Corinthians 14:19 We can deal with 1Corinthians 14:2 later, after I recuperate. In the meantime, I will say this, we have to all strive to get the true meaning of scripture. Sometimes we must not take the scripture verbatim. Here a couple of examples: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters - yes, even his own life - he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26 And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell. Matthew 18:9 There go those IF words again. Let us continue to sincerely seek the Lord to bring us into truth and agreement.
@hayeschrist1 Paul also used IF in Romans 10:9. Using the word IF makes it a conditional statement, not a definitive one. How do you claim to do anything in private, and do it more than everyone else? 1Corinthians 14:19 We can deal with 1Corinthians 14:2 later. In the meantime, I will say this, we have to all strive to get the true meaning of scripture. Sometimes we must not take the scripture verbatim. Here is a perfect example: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters - yes, even his own life - he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26 And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell. Matthew 18:9 There go the IF words again. Let us continue to sincerely seek the Lord to bring us into truth and agreement.
@hayeschrist1 I am praying for you Christopher. I am very familiar with 1Corinthians 14:2 I know EXACTLY what it says, but you (like so many) are taking it way out of context, and no one can real you back in. You have tasted the red Kool-Aid and you like it. Now you will not listen. 1Corinthians 14:2 comes after 1Corinthians 14:1. The first verse gives BIBLICAL INSTRUCTION: To pursue love, which is a fruit of the Spirit, AND to desire spiritual gifts, SPECIFICALLY the gift of prophecy. This is the BIBLICAL INSTRUCTIONS provided to us in the first verse. Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. 1Corinthians 14:1 - NASB The next verse, 1Corinthians 14:2 gives the REASON why we should obey the BIBLICAL INSTRUCTIONS given in verse 1. The reason why we should comply with verse one is BECAUSE: ...anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit. 1Corinthians 14:2 Unfortunately, many truly believe that Paul is trying to promote verse 2 when in fact he is trying to discourage it. I would agree, the wording is misleading, but not if you hold to the context, objectively examining EVERYTHING that Paul wrote. The same Paul wrote 1Corinthians 14:9 just 7 verses after verse 2. So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air. You will just be speaking into the air You will just be speaking into the air You will just be speaking into the air You will just be speaking into the air Who will just be speaking into the air? Anyone who speaks UNINTELLIGIBLE words with their tongue. I do not believe Paul would have referred to this so called "prayer language" in this manner if it were legit. If there is any consolation, God knows your heart. God is a Spirit. He does not need us to make an audible sound to hear our hearts. That's how come Jesus knew that the Pharisees honored God with their lips, but their hearts were far from Him. I believe this notion of a "private prayer language" is an insult to God's intelligence. God is language. He speaks all languages, as does His angels. Tongues were not for the purpose of proclaiming the gospel, but the gospel was indeed preached preceding the sign. Tongues (not a prayer language) was for a sign, mainly to Jews. Isaiah prophesied: Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to this people, Isaiah 28:11 to whom he said, “This is the resting place, let the weary rest”; and, “This is the place of repose” - but they would not listen. Isaiah 28:12 1. The first sign occurred at Pentecost around 33AD. The 12 apostles spoke in other tongues. OTHER TONGUES is the adjective used to say OTHER LANGUAGES. Again this is a plural noun that should not be ignored. All the apostles were in fact proclaiming the gospel on the day of Pentecost, testifying to the resurrection of Jesus, which was exactly what Jesus instructed them to do. The mockers listening heard they testify about the resurrection of a dead man. That is why they accused them of being drunk. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't because they could not understand their speech. They understood exactly what they were saying, they just would not believe it. They preaching of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. The 12 apostles having had this supernatural experience under their belt would make them more receptive to other nations, particularly their enemies if they shared the same experience. Remember what Peter said regarding the conversion of the Gentiles: “As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. Acts 11:15 So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could oppose God?” Acts 11:17 2. The second possible sign of tongues may have happened in Samaria around 36AD, three years after Pentecost. The Samaritans and the Jews were enemies , but God was uniting them through Christ. 3. The third sign of tongues was at Caesarea around 39AD, approximately six years after Pentecost. This is when Peter proclaimed the gospel to the Gentiles at Cornelius' house. This was yet another landmark in the advancement of the gospel. The Jews referred to the Gentiles as dogs. 4. The final time that the sign of tongues was described in the Bible was approximately 52AD. This is when Paul ran into some disciples of John the Baptist. Contrary to popular belief, these men were not saved. They were not Christians. That is why they had no knowledge of the Holy Spirit. These men were not disciples of Jesus, but of John. John's disciples were not aware of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Each of these four momentous occasions included the proclamation of the gospel: 1st to the Jews 2nd to the Samaritans 3rd to the Gentiles 4th to disciples of John the Baptist These were all PUPLIC events, not private prayer experiences. Christopher, I know exactly how you are processing these scriptures, but brother you are in gross area. Do not take my word. Take this matter back to God and genuinely ask Him to show you if you are wrong. No matter what, I still love you brother. I have shared what I have learned from the scriptures as best I could.
God bless this gentleman. He is just adding HIS beliefs to the scriptures instead of just believing the scripture. If it doesn't mention it in scripture then it probably didn't happen and is not TRUTH. Filling in the unmentionables of scripture with what you beliefs is not faith and ought not be done, EVER. That's where error and heresy begin. But I get it - especially being formerly charismatic - when you hear something long enough you begin to believe it and believe scripture references the error because that is what you've been told.
Cory don't want to believe in tongues. that's what this is. no matter what you say, he will find a way to undermine you. I looked in my strong concordance and it says (glossa=tongue, language. Sometimes refers to the supernatural gift of tongues.) It doesn't seem like the Greek term says that tongues are languages already being spoken on the earth. no scripture in the bible says it either. The bible says the opposite. that it's an unknown language that no one understands but God. I don't know how much plainer it needs to be written. it also says that when you speak in tongues, you're talking to God. So, no one else is supposed to be getting edified if you're talking to God. there are other gifts of the spirit that edifies the body.
Corey can you do a study on when someone says have you been baptized by the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking tongues I now have a better understanding through scriptures that this isn’t biblical but my brother in Christ says it is and mark 16 verse 17 is his basis point. He says it’s not the gift of speaking in tongues but just something that happen when you are baptized by the Holy Spirit.
Speaking in tongues is given from the Holy Spirit in utterance. Anything else is gibberish. No where in the entire bible does it ever say a gift from the holy spirit has been revoked. So agree, don't make the text say what it doesn't.
Paul is just giving an example ,there is no point for a angelic language when He gave you a native tongue God is not a God of confusion ,like now its nothing but confusion, about tongues ,it was giving For building the church ,the different languages spoken in the bible is just that,( language) ,its no need for an angelic tongue ,especially if you never ever see a example of this language in the bible
02:00:34 This is the test that no charismatic/pentecostal wants to take. That's why Chris says only he can interpret his own tongues. How convenient, he can never be wrong. Someone needs to get a video of someone speaking in tongues and then play the video privately to 100 Christians individually who believe they have the gift of interpretation. I've been wanting to do this test for so long!
@hayeschrist1If another Christian brother decides, I want to test your tongues. It's impossible because you said that only you can interpret your tongues. That means whatever you interpreted the tongue to be is the truth whether someone disagrees or not it can't be tested
I use to be a believer in tongues like Christopher explains but I started looking at the order of tongues in the Bible and started realizing that the tongues in the church setting for one is out of order because someone would always start speaking in tongues where others could hear without interpretations so I asked about it and then it went to well it's their private prayer language/Angelic language and I'd say okay but I can hear them speak in this tongue angelic or not I can hear and Paul says if it's spoken in church to have interpretation or be silent.... Couldn't ever get an answer except that it's just the way it is and that's how they're going to do it... Then a preacher was screaming these tongues in the microphone without interpretations so I started digging deeper and now I know that the tongues we see in the church today is not anything like it was in Acts also you don't edify yourself and if you pay attention when anyone is talking about tongues it's "I" "me" So the tongues I believe in are actual languages with meaning and in order to Glorify God not the individual. Thank you Corey and still nobody has proved to me that this gibberish in church is how tongues operate. God doesn't change God isn't the author of confusion and I believe God would have went in much deeper detail of these tongues or angelic tongues if they were how the churches today use them.
Perfectly stated Mike. Those who want to elevate themselves claim to speak in tongues ( languages) God has no respect of person. That's why the bible was created that we all shall have the same access to God. We all shall stand before the judgement seat of God
I will follow what JESUS said “pray in this manner” HE gave a prayer outline. also when Jesus prayed on the mount there was no mention of HIM praying in tongues! GOD can do all things and all things are possible BUT HE MAKES IT HAPPEN another us!!!!
If you cannot control "tongues" because it is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit, how is it people can allegedly do so on demand? I recall asking for prayer, only to be mildly chastised because I was not "praying in tongues" as I was being directed to.
Hallelujah,I have some Bible knowledge, but I definitely think bro Corey is more knowledgeable than me, however earlier when the scriptures were referenced I heard one of you read that Paul would rather tongues be kept in check, I'm paraphrasing, and the then later Paul saying to remain silent, I think we supposed to do it privately, but I also believe that bro Corey brings the teachings or doctrines, that I also believe it's supposed to be our guide, also the other brother said the Holy Spirit does what it wants, true in the order of the chain of command, I believe the 3 work together in perfect unity, God the Father being the head, so in this sense the Holy Spirit does what lines up with the written words of God, hallelujah Shalommm, we are not supposed to be fighting but we need one another, balance, a teacher, pastor, prophet, Evangelist, apostle, seems like checks and balances, but written words of God supposed to be our guide hallelujah
With his pastor speaking in Korean- and the woman had the interpretation she was supposed to translate. So that the non believer would know. That was the moment for the Glory of God- this guy must be a new believer. This made my head hurt 😂
@hayeschrist1 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. [28] But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God. He himself is not to interpret his own tongue Also- the Law it is written: “With other tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.” 22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers. 23 So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and inquirers or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind? 24 But if an unbeliever or an inquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all, 25 as the secrets of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”
@hayeschrist1 my brother - the ONLY way a person can speak in and unknown tongue is by the Holy Spirit which makes it a gift. It’s a spiritual matter as all things are. The verse was and is a solid one. I pray that the Lord open your eyes of understanding because Cory gave you wisdom that you refused to accept. I could agree with you and say God was glorified because the one woman heard him in her native language, whose to say more weren’t there that day that spoke her language that she could have interpreted for so that if they were non believers they would be more inclined to become believers. But I digress - the reason we believe you may be a new believer is because you don’t seem to understand what is being said but want to defend something that may have been taught to you in error which is fine. Pastors make mistakes as we all do. But no need to get personal. I will pray for you my brother in Christ. Shalom.
People have a tendency to stray away from scripture due to their feelings. The bible is VERY clear 42:33 a tongue have an interpreter so that the body can be Edified !... some professor lol
If I was really a professor…I wouldn’t have got interrupted and cut off by my students so many times. And if you go back to the convo that Corey and I had…he skipped over several of my CFU questions…that’s not what “students” usually do. So Corey wanted me to be the professor, but he really didn’t want to be a student….but yea…people won’t acknowledge that.
@FishermanBubb ok sure , however the point remains the same. Experiences are real. I'm not calling no one a liar , but personally Experience DOESN'T trump SCRIPTURE. Tongues had a purpose in history, usually when something has a specific purpose at some point it's full filled, who are you Edifieing ? If it's not the body of christ what's the point?
@@MatthewGilmore-oe6cw Foremost- Answer this question for me- Have you ever felt down? Had a bad day at work or school? Something going on with your family? And then you pray or as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14:2…you spoke to God about it….how did you feel afterwards?!?! Secondly- my experience aligns with Scripture. Everything I said in the convo with Corey…aligns with the Bible. Gen 40, Dan 2,4, 1 Cor 14:2,15,18,26-27, 1 Cor 13:1, Acts 2:1, 4,15.
@FishermanBubb yeah mam I've had my share of trails that's why I said experience is valid, I'm not taking that away from you. But what I noticed in America is that even the Christians that claim to have that gift ( and maybe u do) they don't even us it In accordance with the scripture. So from that alone can you see why people don't take yall seriously? Do a word count on how many times Paul said " Edifiy" . Again who are you edifying when no one can understand you. Remember bro don't make the gift more important than the purpose of the gift. Which was to edify the church
@hayeschrist1 my brother you fumbled the entire conversation, I’m not going lie you were really all over the place and I suggest that you actually watch what you’ve done because you were Bobbing and weaving around every question asked and you never once explained yourself which I won’t put too much pressure on you where is concerned because maybe you are not use to the livestream discussion/debate format so I can understand but it was embarrassing, if I believed in tongues after this conversation I would have probably switched side because it was that bad and you took way too much verses out of Context just to use them to match your own narrative, do better brother
@hayeschrist1 keep telling yourself that and continue living in that little delusion of yours, at this point even if something was undeniable true you still wouldn’t be able to prove it to anyone with the way you acted here, I’m sorry to disappoint you but it’s just your pride talking.
Isnt it interesting that the proponents of the gift of tongues give sparsh examples of evidences. During a time of videos being taken of every and all types of situations, there are none that prove tongues as they claim. These persons are loose with their faith and doctrines. Any language has a vast range of syllables and inflections, among other dynamics. These socalled heavenly or angelic languages are so limited to a few babbles. If a korean starts speaking in front of me, though I dont comprehend it, I can still say with confidence it is a language. But if a crazy person of any culture babbles it all sounds the same. Its nonsense in any culture. The sad thing is christians at times hold to insane views in hopes of the spiritual being a part or evidenced in their church. Truly sad.
No. Paul said, "Make sure there's an interpreter when someone speaks aloud in another language. Tongues can not edify the church unless there's an interpreter. We also have to examine the Corinthian church background, which was very pagan. Paul was correcting the church of Corinth throughout that whole book because of the paganism they were demonstrating. Paul also said that the spirits are subject to the prophets, but what we see today is the total opposite. Tongues are languages, not gibberish. Paul had Apostolic power unlike us today.
God Bless this dear Brother but whenever someone give a interpretation of tongues it should build up the whole Church. Nothing doing with the Dallas Cowboys. God Bless you Brother Corey for trying to explain this. We need this the Bible day out of all your getting get understanding. 👍🙏🏽
Corey corey corey !! Give the brother a chance to explain!!! I could not watch this without getting upset. You have to speak in tongues in order to see if they were interpretation. Speak by faith but If no interpretation, then don't continue speak to the crowd. One can still pray in tongues to yourself.
Chris only confused me even more about this. He isn't moving the conversation any further, just explains what Corey said. God of the Bible is a good of order, why does it matter what could do vs what he does do. You will know what he says, all this other stuff is unnecessary to know.
Umm I’m Chris and Corey kept interrupting and cutting me off. I gave BIBLE the whole convo. From Genesis 40, Daniel , 1 Corinthians,Acts..I tried to give Luke but Corey cut me off.I can’t clearly expound or explain the texts if the host keep cutting me off.If you go to the chat there was people who was on Corey side saying that I was making good points and acknowledging that Corey was interrupting me. Corey and I discussed threee topics- interpretations and what it means-I won that round because he proved my point. Angelic tongues-Corey could not refute 1 Corinthians 13:1 or Galatians 4. And if there was 120 that got filled on the day of Pentecost-Corey skipped over the verse I highlighted that confirms that it was more than the disciples. Corey doesn’t speak in tongues and he has the same viewpoint of tongues as the people that COREY says are ignorant of Scriptures…the Black Hebrew Israelites. He’s been proven wrong by Dr Micheal Brown, myself, this guy name Sam and we’re giving The Word of God, we’re giving Bible.
I believe in tounges, but it doesn't feel normal, for everybody in the Quote Christian faith, beening born again, saved,or how they view God,in why is it so important to use tongues,?seems like the gift has caused a mass of claim Christians to worship the gift instead of the Creator who gave the gift, they are obsessed with the gift in and of itself and don't teach Bible or other life issues in our walk with God.
Corey hold fast as you do to what the word says I think we as human beings especially in today's world rely on our feelings and experiences and you can be feeling something you think is of God and it is not. You did well keep the faith stick with the text. I questioned my tongues I say Lord I want what I see I felt that I didn't control it even so does not make it right or biblical I realized that it makeore sense to stay silent than to say something you don't know what you're saying clearly he did not know what he was saying his interpretation is what he desired reason I can say this because as Corey pointed out in scripture we don't see these type of tongues written people have a desire to be special like those that God used we are but diffently we as believers have the holy spirit inside. The scripture is enough you know need how you feel to much emphasis on feelings stick to what we know which is his Word the 66 books Amen.
The arguments of charismatics are interesting. They say languages are both earthly and angelic yet they all only have the angelic gift. They say they all also have the gift of interpretation. How convenient. In the US, there are tens of thousands that profess to speak in tongues. That number is probably easily in the hundreds of thousands but I am being conservation. All these folks only speak angelic languages and not any earlthy ones. They can not interpret anyone else, but only their own. That is very convenient.
The angels did not need an interpreter, so why would humans need to speak an angelic language? Some even argue that tongues is a language that the devil cant understand. Well, God wrote a whole book and gave it to us to guide us and give us understanding, but Satan can surely read it. I dont think God is too concerned with having a secret language either.
I really need some more explanation about how he speaks in tongues but can understand them 🤔 He said “I speak in tongues but I hear it in English”. Huh?! How do you know you weren’t just speaking in English? 😂
@hayeschrist1 2 corinthians 13:1 says in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses shall every word be established! You only have 1 witness, so it's not proven to be true
@hayeschrist1 what you speak of doesn't exist . 1 Corinthians 14 :13 is describing someone speaking in an unknown language as bystanders are hearing them. That's what Paul is
1 Corinthians 14:13 is describing when someone is speaking in an unknown language as bystanders are listening. The bystanders cannot understand what that person is saying because they do not know the language being spoken. That's why Paul said pray that he may interpret. (Same verse) . He goes on in verse 14, if I pray in an unknown language, ( unknown to the hearer) , my understanding is unfruitful ( meaning that those who hear, are not edified.). Verse 15 Pray with the spirit, and with the understanding too. In other words pray so that the hearers understand what you are praying about. Read slowly now verses 16-17. Even if someone speaks in a language no one knows, he must understand what he himself is speaking. 1 Corinthians 14:20 be not children in understanding. 1 Corinthians 14:22 tongues are for a sign , not to them that believe , but to them that don't believe. you should read the rest of the chapter. ( 14:26) Let all things be done unto edifying. You cannot edify someone if they don't know the language you're speaking in. ( Barbarian). You need not seek worldly knowledge to understand God's word. God's word is the only authority. It always proves itself. May God bless you
Can you speak jibberish and mebe curse your neighbors and then satan tel you in your head you just blessed god ore what ever? And wy speak in a tongue to haf god to tel you what you just said and how do you now for sure that it was god who give you that interpretation? I would rather now for sure wat i said ore askt god.
If someone is speaking gibberish and there is someone there to interpret it. Why couldn't GOD JUST speak through the interpreter? Thats why i believe its a known language you need a interpreter for that
Obviously, Thaddeus is speaking about Jesus to the angels, who we know are clueless about who Jesus is. That's why we speak in tongues of angels. Angels are clearly idiots, according to that logic, which they are not. They have no need of us to testify of Jesus to them.
This is sad and a waste of time... It's obvious the Brother with the hat came in ALREADY with his mind fix just as the host, to run it 2hrs and some change I mean come on. It shouldn't take that long to reason and break bread until one is ready.
Yall are not going to ever understand unless you understand what went on on the day of Pentacost. The Jews who went up for Pentecost, the Parthians, Medes, Elamites, resident of Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia...ect. only spoke 2 languages, either Greek or Aramic. Those Galileans speaking were expected to be speaking in HEBREW, the high language of the Jew. BUT on the day of PENTECOST, God is performing a miracle, getting rid of preaching in Hebrew, establishing the Gentiles in the body of Christ, preaching in Greek or Aramic. Of all the people and places mentioned in verses 9 and 10, they spoke 2 languages, Greek or Aramic.
Chris is all over the comments defending his poor showing. He seems like a person desperate to convince himself. This kind of emotional reaction where he is trying to g to track down every comment that disagrees with him goes hand in hand with a person who believes he can talk like an angel and then only he can interpret it.
The problem with Chris is he has no problem with adding thoughts to the Bible that's clearly not there.. that's the culture in the 21st century. It's not about truth anymore. it's about my feelings
@hayeschrist1 my brother, you clearly Said to Corey you BELIEVE that a angelic language was being spoken on the day the disciples received the holy spirit.. where ..where.. where was that said in the Bible? You said it was 120 on that day when clearly that 120 was candidates to replace Judas. I love you bro but seek TRUTH not feelings
I think Chris used deductive reasoning. I thought it was inappropriate for Corey to say "should we pray in tongues naked" There is no deductive reasoning to conclude they were naked. I'm just saying.
With all due respect there is not one single reference in the entire Bible of what Angelic language sounds like. I know some people personally who have been brainwashed into thinking every thought which enters their minds is the voice of the Holy Spirit. Thats the problem with these so called tounges. If everyone in the church speak English, these unknown languages are out of order. God understand the English language. Amen.
This was painful for Corey.. lol!!! It was painful for me as well!!! This “Heavenly” language or “Prayer” language is not Biblical. Just pray in your natural languages. God knows. I promise you he does..
It’s not Biblical huh?!? So somebody never read 1 Corinthians 14:2, someone has never read 1 Corinthians 13:1. And the most painful thing about all this, it’s obvious that you’re not filled with the Spirit. God bless you!!!
Corey please Azusa Street Revival 1906 ( speaking in tongues) Welsh Revival 1904 these documentaries are on UA-cam, I need to know if this is real and if it really happened. Please watch these documentaries and explain them, if you have time. Thank you have a awesome day!
the comments area is not to share with Corey as I doubt IF he ever reads this portion. But, it might be for those of us who want our 'thoughts and points' to maybe be read and or heard. 2 hours is too long.... 1 hour is too long. 30 minutes might be okay.
Brother Corey you are being extremely gracious
People who believe in tongues as a gift dont have any other gift they fight for as much. Strange how they dont fight for the gift of understanding with the same passion.
Actually, that is untrue. it doesn't matter whether I "believe" in tongues. The bible clearly states people spoke in tongues. Secondly, we are to pray for the best gifts, not just tongues, i'd love to have the gift of prophecy, gift of healing, gift of wisdom. I'd like them all if it was possible, is it possible? you might say no, I say it is.
@@rrand5630 what is untrue in my statement?
Absolutely ! No one ever says I have the gift of interpretation
@@darrylhenderson4573 I have the gift of interpretation. Seriously.
I don't speak in tongues or anything like that, but your statement is ridiculous. I know many people who believe in that, and they do not cling to and fight for tongues more than anything else, including the gift of understanding. 😂
As a continuationist, this brother did not make a good argument for this gift.
Something about this guy pulls at my heartstrings lol. Maybe because he’s a New Orleans baby like myself, but I think there’s something VERY genuine about him and his love for The Most High. I’ll be praying for him to be set free in truth. Just like I do for Corey and his followers lol 😆😅
I love ALL y’all.
@hayeschrist1May our Heavenly Father bless and keep you and your family all your days! 🫶🏼🙏🏽
I think he means well but in error. He has a heart for his pastor and it's probably hard to clearly see that their teaching is slightly off
@@tarynjohnson3230How is he in error? When everything that he said is in Scripture.
Someone needs to ALERT the lack of "COMMON SENSE" Patrol for Chris.😂😂🤣🤣
(lol)
Thanks!
thank you as well my sister
Speaking in tongues refer to languages and not to rubbish utterance
Amen
Amen
Isn’t all unknown language nonsense and gibberish?
Is you go to a remote jungle and they are speaking an unknown tongue is it not gibberish? Unless of course you know every language dialect of ever person on earth?
@@chaplainsoffice6907 so if someone is speaking a different language then you know, to themselves, on the train they are not speaking a language ??
No offence to the other guy but he’s just spinning in circles and repeating the same thing over n over
This was a perfect example of how I realized how important KNOWING the Bible is!
But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God."
Now, given that this command is inspired of God, how can the Spirit be moving people to disobey God and pray in tongues all at the same time without interpretation ? The only conclusion possible is that the "tongues" as practiced is not inspired by the Spirit.
I'm not saying that authentic tongues does not still exist in the Church today. I'm saying that, by the measure described above, all I've observed to date is fake.
From what I've observed, "tongues" can be any of the following
1) an expression of emotion
2) a filler, to give the person time to think about what or how to pray, to avoid an awkward silence
3) an exercise which the person believes provides a spiritual benefit - it builds them up, or enables them to pray mysteries to God
Either way for the most part it seems to be a behavior learnt by copying others, often under peer pressure to conform and be part of the group or pressure not to be left out concerning some perceived spiritual benefit
Thank you for speaking bible truth. God is not the author of confusion .
Being raised in a Pentecostal Oness church, it's VERY HARD for people to REALIZE the Truth about speaking in a EARTHLY LANGUAGE.,Repeating short phrase,IS NOT a LANGUAGE,but I truly believe this people are during this SO CALLED speaking in Tongues, are during it as a PRAISE(God DWELL in these PRAISES)
What I've noticed that EACH CHURCH has their on Babbling (Tongue) ,so this CLEARLY tells me the babbling is something they HEAR,has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with (SPIRIT GIVING UTTERANCE).
No one does in this spiritual manifestation. 1 Corinthians 13:8 Tongues have ceased
So, how long can we pray in tongues without an interpereter? Is 2 minutes the limit? I think Paul said that in the book of 2nd Hesitations.
Exactly!!!
What does Bro Chris mean when he says, "The Spirit took over his tongue?"
According to 1 Corinthians 14:32 in the Bible, prophets have control over their spirits.
For sure.....🙏
And more in love with our pastors charisma and emotions than we are the accuracy of the Word.
I agree. I love Corey but he was giving way too much information. That is why it is good to have a moderator. Whether it is this informal conversation/debate or a more formal one.
@@danielkim672 Amen!
So Corey if you’re right at best 12 different normal languages sparked a worldwide movement…
Keep speaking the truth as you do Brother Cory and May the Lord cover you and your family’ going out and coming in,
in the matchless and mighty name of Jesus, amen!
That's because Corey kept interrupting him, and it was bothering him. I don't speak in tongues either, but I did and do notice how Corey has a problem with interrupting people and calling them out for the same things that he does.
1 Corinthians 14
King James Version
14 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.
18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
Law of first mention applies to the meaning of something not the perpetual application
The Sabbath has not changed. The Sabbath is rooted in creation, observed before Mt. Sinai, is perpetually binding Moral Law of God.
What law is written on the heart of believers in the new covenant -- tablets of stone to tablets of human heart = the decalogue
the supernatural ability to speak in a language unknown to the speaker
Why would God make you speak a language unknown to you? God is a God of order ,that would be out of order
@danielkim672 still not making sense because if you ask them, they always say I don't know
@@arsynoeford9638 Yep, they will answer that way as IMO, they do not have the gift of tongues and are faking it.
Why there has to be a "debate" on tongues??
Its ridiculous!
Its like :"let's have a debate onJesus"...
Either you believe in Him or not...🤷♀️
@hayeschrist1 Exactly!!Either u believe it or not!
Understanding that would save senseless debates and arguments!God bless you!
@@TBb____ Yes!you are right:"one side is wrong"=the side that doesn't believe!
God bless you.
@@endtimeswatcher8743 I agree. Jesus said these signs shall follow them that believe, “they shall speak with new tongues.”
At 27:00 minutes he said “the Holy Spirit can do whatever He wants” Question, so he is saying that God the Holy Spirit can and does go against what God the Holy Spirit wrote?
God the Holy Spirit cannot go against God the father , or God the son.
I can offer to translate as a Korean speaker if there is an audio recording of that..... Otherwise, I cannot vouch for the experience of it. Too many people speaking in these 'tongues' are way overwhelmed with human emotions of sentimentality and all.
I'll see if I can get him to give the link to that. I would be very interested to see if it was indeed true.
I'm glad corey opened the Matthew Henry's commentary himself because the commentary wasn't saying what this man is claiming at all.
You said the guy on remnant radio said he spoke Croatian, all glory to God if that is true and thank God he never said it an unknown language called "angelic tongues"
Come to think of it, after Jesus said this signs shall follow those who believe, why do you think Paul who speaks in tongue had to correct the corinthians concerning this same sign? Why not leave them and let them do it without however they like without interpretation? Was it because of unbelief? No!
Could it be because it's getting out of hand and out of context? Yes! Because that's exactly why Paul wrote to them
Angels and men aren't on the same level so why would man need to speak in an angelic language for God to communicate with man. Even Jesus was made lower than the angels and spoke aramaic or hebrew a known earthly language native to that region.
Facts
Im curious where does it come from or when did it start that "praying in the Spirit" means praying in tongues? I just dont get that.
I doesn't say that. I don't know where that comes from. They are adding to God's word
@hayeschrist1 I don't think you understood the question, but thanks.
@hayeschrist1Thanks for that, but that's not what that Scripture is saying.
@hayeschrist1 Brother you lost me, it doesn't seem like we're having the same convo. I never said anything like that.🤷🏽♂️
@hayeschrist1 My brother, I'm not saying anything is complicated, I fully understand what your trying to say.
1 Corinthians 14:2
Where in there does it say praying in the spirit means speaking in tongues? It's just not there, someone has to read that into the text and then it's not consistent with other scriptures. Yeah you have to read that into the text based on a presupposition.
Bruh..people make this simple topic so difficult...I just don't understand....it's like people are trying to be "special"
But alright,
"So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will be speaking into the air. 10 There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning, 11 but if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me. 12 So with yourselves, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up the church."
1 Co 14:9-12.
Since you are so eager to have the special abilities the Spirit gives, seek those that will strengthen the whole church."
1 Cor 14:10
"So, anyone who speaks in tongues should pray also for the ability to interpret what has been said. 14For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don’t understand what I am saying."
1 Cor 14: 13
"Well then, what shall I do? I will pray in the spirit, and I will also pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand."
1 Cor 14:15
Praying in the Spirit is praying to God with the Holy Spirit's leading in what you are praying for.
There's only on church!
Cory Aint No Joke!!! Love this Brotha
If one wants to prove tongues of Angel, only an Angel can confirm that.
This is a very good point.
That is false
I would love to speak with you pertaining to this topic Corey.
@hayeschrist1 Good evening Christopher:
I wish I could just blow this issue off until we get to heaven, but it causes far too much pain and division within the family of God.
HYPERBOLE
As for hyperbole, here is the definition:
Exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally:
Paul used hyperbole several times in his writings. Carefully examine these examples of hyperbole:
1. IF I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. - 1Corinthians 13:1
2. IF I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and
3. IF I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 1Corinthians 13:2
4. IF I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. 1Corinthians 13:3
The main theme of 1Corinthians 13 was the necessity of Christians showing genuine love towards everyone, and Paul used exaggerated examples (hyperbole) to stress that point.
Paul uses hyperbole again, this time to emphasize the importance of the church members (the body of Christ) working together in harmony and unity:
5. IF the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 1Corinthians 12:15
6. And IF the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 1Corinthians 12:16
7. IF the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 1Corinthians 12:17
We know darn well, that feet and ears do not talk.
Galatians 1:8
Anyone in their right mind knows that no angel from heaven is going to preach anything against the gospel.
Notice the use of the word "IF" in each of the 8 examples I provided.
IF I speak in the tongues of men and of angels
IF I have the gift of prophecy
IF I have a faith that can move mountains
IF I give all I possess to the poor
IF the foot should say
IF the ear should say
IF the whole body were an eye
IF we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached
Using the word IF, prevents them from being definitive statements, but when you remove the word "IF" the meaning of the verse changes.
I speak in the tongues of men and of angels
I have the gift of prophecy
I have a faith that can move mountains
I gave all I possess to the poor
The foot says
The ear says
The whole body is an eye
An angel from heaven preached a gospel other than the one we preached
I believe Paul's references to tongues of angels was indeed hyperbole.
Romans 10:9
Christopher, I attempted to share with you why I and others genuinely believe that Paul was speaking hyperbolically. You seem to have an answer for everything.
Now you bring up 1Corinthians 14:2 and 14:18. I am well aware of both of these verses. I will deal with the last one first.
I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 1Corinthians 14:18
"IF" Paul was actually referring to a heavenly prayer language that he utilized in private, then this is a very interesting claim.
(1Corinthians 14:5)
Paul thanked God that he spoke in TONGUES more than all the other Corinthians. Again Paul used a plural noun. Paul was a polyglot who traveled extensively to preach the good news of Jesus. Whether Paul was able to speak different languages by natural education or the Holy Spirit's intervention, the Bible does not say. But here is what Paul does say:
But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. 1Corinthians 14:19
We can deal with 1Corinthians 14:2 later, after I recuperate.
In the meantime, I will say this, we have to all strive to get the true meaning of scripture. Sometimes we must not take the scripture verbatim. Here a couple of examples:
“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters - yes, even his own life - he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26
And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell. Matthew 18:9
There go those IF words again.
Let us continue to sincerely seek the Lord to bring us into truth and agreement.
@hayeschrist1 Paul also used IF in Romans 10:9. Using the word IF makes it a conditional statement, not a definitive one.
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

“If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters - yes, even his own life - he cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:26

1Corinthians 14:1 - NASB
The next verse, 1Corinthians 14:2 gives the REASON why we should obey the BIBLICAL INSTRUCTIONS given in verse 1. The reason why we should comply with verse one is BECAUSE:
...anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit. 1Corinthians 14:2
Unfortunately, many truly believe that Paul is trying to promote verse 2 when in fact he is trying to discourage it.
You will just be speaking into the air
You will just be speaking into the air
You will just be speaking into the air
You will just be speaking into the air
Who will just be speaking into the air?
Isaiah prophesied:
Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to this people, Isaiah 28:11
to whom he said, “This is the resting place, let the weary rest”; and, “This is the place of repose” - but they would not listen. Isaiah 28:12
Remember what Peter said regarding the conversion of the Gentiles:
“As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. Acts 11:15
So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could oppose God?” Acts 11:17
Each of these four momentous occasions included the proclamation of the gospel:
1st to the Jews
2nd to the Samaritans
3rd to the Gentiles
4th to disciples of John the Baptist
These were all PUPLIC events, not private prayer experiences.
Christopher, I know exactly how you are processing these scriptures, but brother you are in gross area. Do not take my word. Take this matter back to God and genuinely ask Him to show you if you are wrong.
No matter what, I still love you brother. I have shared what I have learned from the scriptures as best I could.
@hayeschrist1 What up Christopher? I tried to email you. Did you get it?
Paul is just giving an example ,there is no point for a angelic language when He gave you a native tongue God is not a God of confusion ,like now its nothing but confusion, about tongues ,it was giving
For building the church ,the different languages spoken in the bible is just that,( language) ,its no need for an angelic tongue ,especially if you never ever see a example of this language in the bible
Facts!!! Jesus told us how to pray.
Corey you quoted the Greek… it doesn’t specify the 11 it specified these
I will follow what JESUS said “pray in this manner” HE gave a prayer outline. also when Jesus prayed on the mount there was no mention of HIM praying in tongues! GOD can do all things and all things are possible BUT HE MAKES IT HAPPEN another us!!!!
The Brother keeps saying “MY PASTOR-MY PASTOR” instead of saying what the word of GOD has written.
Chris, is adding to the word of God...Chris is also making stuff up to suit his narrative.
He himself is not to interpret his own tongue
Also-
the Law it is written: “With other tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.”
22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers.
23 So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and inquirers or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?
24 But if an unbeliever or an inquirer comes in while everyone is prophesying, they are convicted of sin and are brought under judgment by all,
25 as the secrets of their hearts are laid bare.
Shalom.
People just want to be super spiritual.. I laughed when he said only he can interpret his tongues. This is pretty sad.
If I don't love I'm nothing, Christians love if you do all these things with out love you don't have the spirit
Where is the scripture where God or the Apostles say that God is a Trinity
People have a tendency to stray away from scripture due to their feelings. The bible is VERY clear 42:33 a tongue have an interpreter so that the body can be Edified !... some professor lol
That’s the gift of tongues-1 Corinthians 14:26-27
His answer for everything is : you can’t put God or the Holy Spirit in a Box
And tongues doesn’t need an interpreter it only needs one if u stand up in church to give a message
Keep studying, young brother ,christ, and learn to be accountability, Cory , i commend your patience, thank you.🙏🏿
like foreal...this requires no waist of bandwith on my PC...a petty debate...either you believe in toungs or not..
Over half of you guys don't understand the bible ( obviously), but yet want to speak some unknown language ,
God Bless this dear Brother but whenever someone give a interpretation of tongues it should build up the whole Church.
It’s builds you up through your yield…. Romans 8:26-28
@professorsherman8251, Romans 8:26-28 has nothing to do with speaking in tongues
The scripture doesn’t say they will assemble about 120
Do not exceed what is written..
Acts 1:15 speaks of the 120 disciples.
Fun fact I no longer subscribe to tongues as of today. God only allowed me 5months of foolishness
@hayeschrist1 Ok that makes more sense, sorry I think I missed that part in the video 👍
Exactly lol
Not putting God in a box dies not mean that you can make God to do and say whatever you want Him to do outside of scripture. That's rogue faith.
Can you show me scripture to support your position?
No but let me give you all kinds of unverifiable examples 🥴
I want to read it for myself
Cory He Believes that Tongues is The Holyghost
This is sad and a waste of time... It's obvious the Brother with the hat came in ALREADY with his mind fix just as the host, to run it 2hrs and some change I mean come on. It shouldn't take that long to reason and break bread until one is ready.
God the Father is not the author of confusing, if any man is confused, its on his own.4/2/24
Tongues is the Thangs that do the Other Thangs!! Cause da Baby is tha Human of Tha World!!! Thats all i hear Mr. Chris Saying ( NONSENSE)
😂
So true
@hayeschrist1amen
Amen.
Corey is Being too Nice!!! What Cory is saying is there is A Order to Speaking in Tongues!!! This other Brother is Sounding so Stupid
When you allow people to speak long enough they reveal themselves. Sorry not sorry but bro wasn’t making no sense after while.
Speaking in tongues means a known language and not just a bunch of babbling that nobody can understand😮
Congratulations! You literally have the same beliefs about tongues as an Ex/Non Christian…not a good look
