Also I know the title of this song is often translated as love casualty/catastrophe but honestly that just doesn't feel right to me lol
When I first heard this cover by wu en a few days ago I fell in love and I couldn't get it out of my head. The song itself is not affiliated with mdzs at all (not a fan song or official song), but it was tragically sad so I was like lol basically mdzs. (Thankfully mdzs has HE, but just think of this video as the culmination of all the pain wwx and lwj went through before they got to that HE) AND i forgot to mention before but this is the same singer who sang one of the parts in wangxian (mdzs audio drama version)!
I mostly matched up the lyrics to the scenes so it's not really in any particular order. I also just shamelessly plugged in some of my favorite scenes. I speed-rewatched a bunch of the anime for this and man nostalgia is so real I forgot how much I fangirled at some of the scenes.

@@mephi9881 I also do not know whether it was hope, or just longing on Wangji's part, why he continued to play inquiry. What I can say though is Wangji loved Wei Ying with every bit of his being. He wouldn't have stopped.
wei wuxian's past life was such a tragedy I can't fathom how he could just smile hearing about his efforts was treated like trash from the mouths of other cultivators

I can't move on to that so I watched anime to drama( live action) until I read the novel. And I always cries when the time he remembers his promises to his brother and the times he misses the life he has in lotus cove
That is why I'm really thankful for Wen Qing who basically acted as a sister towards her when WWX cant see her sister. And justice for Wen Qing one of the best girl

Where Lan Zhan and Lan Xichen has stayed alive for centuries seeing reincarnations of Jiang Cheng etc but Lan Zhan is very sad because he has never seen Wei Ying reincarnated... I'm not going to lie - it's one of my favorite non-official mdzs quotes, and it's one of the things that really got me into the fandom when I was first reading mdzs. But the quote itself is not from the mdzs novel - and the concept of lwj playing inquiry for 13 years is also one perpetuated by fans; it is _not canon._
Whether you believe it is fanon or not is purely up to you! But the belief that it is canon seems to also be highly spread among fans, so here's my small, overdue attempt to help clear things up. again, thank you for watching!

I would like to think that Lan Wangxi never played inquiry in those years because he doesn't want to accept that Wei Ying is gone. He just continued with his life waiting for his return, while waiting he's been reflecting on what he could have done and will treat wei ying when he comes come. NOTICE how Lan Wangxi never got angry after Wei Ying's resurrection? He just quietly comply to whatever Wei Ying wants.
In the chibi minis animated series there's a scene with Lan Zhan on a bridge, looking at the moon and holding a paper umbrella. He says about WY: he is not dead, i am waiting for him. Awfully tragic, but it makes sense why he wouldn't play Inquiry.

This song really portrays both lan zhan and wei ying because to them they both have to go through so much to get to be together. Different background history, disapproval from a few family members, a role model but yet no one wants to approach them, etc. the song sounds sad, but to me, it’s happiness, love because they surpassed every trials, tests, whatnot to get there together, so even though they had to suffer, it was worth so much so they can be together.
I was eighteen yrs old when I first heard this novel. It was my first time reading BL novel too. This was the time I was introduced to the world of BL novels 😆 And this was and still my most favorite danmei novel. Now, I am 24 yrs old, the heartache I've felt when I read this was still here. A beautiful novel indeed.

Just actually thinking about how long Lan Zhan waited really hits u hard. 13 years is an incredibly long time. Whilst Wei Ying died and simply came back, he didn’t feel the eternity that Lan Zhan would have felt living through those 13 endless years.
His heart remained towards WY, in everyday day life it’s so rare to find a love like that.

Sometimes when I rewatch or reread wangxian content from drama, donghua or novel, it just can’t help thinking that is it possible that during those 13 years of waiting Lan Zhan was being “everywhere the chaos is” because it’s the just reminder of Wei Ying like simply to help people around and that during those days, he was also searching for a glimpse of his soul anytime anywhere possible and to play rest for him to find peace after death at least when inquiry didn't work. Also, kinda thinking with how he’s said to be a remarkable cultivator, is it possible that he can already ascend as in being immortal but he let it go because well his heaven is Wei Ying 😭 what use is there to ascend when his beloved one is not yet found, neither soul nor body? Their love is beyond worldly I swear 😭😭😭

This song is hauntingly beautiful ; the melody, combined with lyrics is perfection. BUT WHAT HONESTLY MAKES ME CRY ARE THE VOCALS. Omg. Wu En's voice is intoxicating. Every single time I hear this, his voice that blends with the instruments in the background just sends a shiver down my spine. This song makes me happy that I was born.

I know theres no need to compare them, but a lot of people feel like tgcf is sadder. Dont get me wrong, it definitely is heartbreaking oml but I forget how much mdzs is a tragedy. When I watched this my heart HURT. Everything theyve been through (especially wwx) with having no one in particular to blame, it really is so so so so painful.
