Agree with this mostly, though I'd say the change that Kevin outlines began a lot longer than 10 years ago - the religious right has been part of the US faith landscape going back to the 1970s
It seems like Evangelicalism nowadays requires that you call anyone outside of your faith as a "demon" or "satanic". What a wholesome way to start the day.
@melodyrachel I don't think so I tried most even eastern Orthodox and I just don't fit in really. I might go to the one I attend Celebrate Recovery at next Sunday just to at least have somewhere to worship.
@@DanMorgan-bh5fv interesting. If Christianity is about a relationship with Jesus, do you need to stick to one church? I don't, and my Christian friends have different theological views. Although I find it easier to connect with people based on how they treat me and how open/understanding they are.
Hey thanks for sharing. I'm not really looking for a religion or any sort of church structure. I'm much more interested in a personal relationship with Jesus (if he actually exists). My understanding of Jesus is that, through His Holy Spirit dwelling within us, He can change the internal workings of our hearts, our motivations, and our intentions. He gets to the core. I don't feel that a lot of modern evangelical Christianity grasps this, but I'm open to the idea that I could be wrong.

But essentially if you read the Bible, mainly the New Testament, and want to know if it is true or not, you have to test out what it says; “draw nearer to me and I will draw nearer to you” - James 4:7-10 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever, the Spirit of truth” - John 14 “But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.” - 1 Corinthians 2:10 “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” - Romans 12:2 If any of this stuff is true, then the proof of Gods existence will be the change that happens within you. My goodness that sounds intense haha it’s a wild journey for sure!
@@melodyrachel How does one test any of these, though? Just try to believe without being convinced? If someone does this and never feels that their mind is transformed or that they’ve been touched by the Spirit, can they conclude that it’s failed the test and isn’t true?
