This chord has kept me from playing so many songs, so I truly appreciate your video here showing how many alternately easier methods to hitting this one. Thank you David!
@@mhanxsalim326 getting better all the time. I just don‘t find the right placement to let it sink into muscle memory. Open chords are no problem.and thabks you for asking.
I think when newer players start worrying about barre chords, it's important to just understand the ideas behind "moving the shape." Once I realized that you could just take the E minor shape and move it up the fret board, root it on a certain note, and there you are! The minor barre chord of whatever you're rooting on! Same thing for the A major shape! And the E major shape! And so on. This was HUGE in my development of barre chords and understanding the fret board overall. I'm trying to not be a horrid Songnotes fanboy. I really am. But, again, good work on the video! Keep 'em coming!
+Justin Olson thanks Justin! Now I am very insecure I didn't cover this more during the video! But you're totally right - and in fact this topic you mentioned is a good idea for a video on its own. I'll probably make that one pretty soon... thanks for the comment!
Didn't mean for it to come off as a criticism. This video just reminded me of when I learned about barre chords and the first time it REALLY stuck. Still amazes me that music is math. Math is music. Keep doing what you're doing, man.
Great detail lesson thanks for sharing I’m 71 year old and just pick up guitar love it I’m having calluses it my fingers and not trying to quit as you said , thanks again keep these lessons coming
I was having a hard time switching from Bb barre 1st fret to Am C/E Dm C --- "Bb Am G -- F" - C In let it be instrumental part which is very quick between chord changes. Now that's a great way to do it. Bb barre 6th fret Am barre 5th fret G barre 3rd fret Back to F barre Thanks a lot
It is very difficult for me to play this Chord, so Im glad you Think so too. I Will definitely try one of the easier one. You said it will take weeks,I have practiced I’m months allready😳
I'm a begginner guitar player(only been playing for 3 months) but I actually find it easier to just put my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th finger on the D, G, B strings and instead of putting my forth finger on the A on the forth fret I just bar it. I get a better tone and sound to it and its easier to form. I'm learning how to play Yesterday by The Beatles so that's why I have been having to use B Flat. Also when you talked about The F cord and how people find that and B flat to be annoying to learn, I didn't find much difficulty in F cord as much as I did B flat. I hope my advice helps other beginners as well.
Have you ever thought of using Patreon as a way to help supplement the cost of producing your videos? Your videos are amazing and I don't doubt they take time and money to produce.
+Reese Brinkley yes! Something I have been thinking about starting in the next few months. One big question I need to work out is what my pricing tiers will be, and making sure I don't over promise (so that I can't keep up with what I commit to). With my last 5-6 lessons I started making print friendly PDFs for each song, which is most definitely something I think would work well with Patreon. Thanks for the suggestion and encouragement!
Thanks David great lesson,im struggling with bflat and f chords, and it was going so well with open chords,i tried to dodge the b and f but they find ya,cant hide,ah sure il just put the practice on them and i will get ther,i baught a guitar acoustic a yr ago,i knew absolutly nothing, but iv always wanted to learn,im 47,i love playing, now i can play a few bits and pieces, songs with open chords, but any time it see a b or f id play a bit then try bluff, each day im playing il keep a half hr or so to the b then f,thanks great lesson
This lesson helped me a lot. I also got a lot of benefit from playing Brian Jonestown songs that use barre chords up and down the neck (including Bm on the 6th fret). However, I still struggle with changing to and from the full Bflat on the first fret. It’s a tough one for sure.
After much seeking around youtube i have decided to choose you to teach me play gitar.I am 53 years old and a begynner.i start with simple man.B flat and barr chord training
Can i ask what kind of guitar? Thought maybe martin but few minor attributes don't seem like martins i know...not sure that is a martin sound either....?ii
what if i have barchord strenght but i still can't play it? i can do F barchord, Bminor barchord, or whatever, a lot more barchords, no problem with them, the problem with this one is stretching the fingers fast enough while playing a song
Then don't play using this shape (or practice more). Use your F Chord shape on the 6th fret and you'll have a Bb/A# chord (Think about it, you're going up 5 frets so F#, G, G#, A, A#). Now you just have to be able to quickly go all the way down to the 6th fret and back so you still may have speed issues. Another alternative is to only play 3 strings. Do an A Chord but use your pinky, ring and middle finger for each string. Then move that shape up one fret for A#. You can either only pluck those 3 strings or you can mute all the other strings with the rest of your hand (just lay your pointer finger across enough to gently touch all the strings).
Man I think I know alot of chords. The F chord is easy but when I get to the Bb it's extremely tough. I'm trying to go from a Am7 to a Bb,but going all the way to the 6th fret seems to mess me up everytime.
I really like your videos ,you mention on this video ,some videos on your channel about barre chord strength, any chance for a link ,i have been checking and can`t find, another thing can you make a lesson on the song "when you love a woman" by journey, thank`s mate keep up the good work
I never thought i could hate my short fingers this much................ I can't reach from the first fret to the third fret, and if i do push it i can't put any strength on my fingers 😭😭😭, seems like i need more practice 😂😂😂
Thanks for the bb its a double bitch alright i need it to play NOTHING RHYMED by Gilbert ó Sullivan without the bb cord nothing is rhyming...no pun intended.

When he said F and B are a pain in the butt........ I FELT THAT

Maybe do, $1 tier, 3$, 10$, then maybe a higher tier for a few minute of lessons?
This is the final cord I have to learn for a song. I managed E, G, D, and C. I’ll get this eventually. Thanks for the video!
