Hi GP. I have 60 hectares of forest , after five years of neglect I spent a few weeks with a hammer flail mower cutting out 3 meter wide tracks , I re seeded with grass and now use a 1 .5m finishing mower . Very happy with these little machines . You're doing great job passing on your knowledge 🙂
Morning Patrick. Great story - thanks for sharing. Feels good I bet, to have it fixed up and maintained now. Flail mowers are pretty great little tools for sure. Have a Happy Canada Day / Independence Day weekend!
Wow, I'm impressed. Gord thank you for the great video. I was interested in getting a rotary mower. After seeing this video I now want a flail mower instead. Awesome display of what it can do. Thanks
Thanks for showing us his, it makes sense to use one of these on our place to clear some walking trials and around the property line in preparation for fencing.
Wow! Another great video my friend, you never disappoint. I had no idea the actual real capabilities of a flail mower. I was blown away when you said it's rated for up to three inches material. Only bad parts of watching your videos is now, I want a flail mower and grapple, and front snowblower. I'll have to live vicariously through you. Thanks so much for taking us along. Greetings to you and your family.
LOL. Thanks Bill. I honestly had no idea this thing was such a beast! But hey, enjoy the week with the family - I hope you had time to catch the meteor shower this past weekend. All the best!
Gord, I love using your video library for reference and research. Thanks for the flail series. I just sold my brush hog to buy a small flail after getting the idea from Jon's channel then watching your videos
Morning ATR! I am happy they helped a little. It was a strong little beast for sure - I enjoyed using it while I had it. Good luck with the purchase. Cheers!
In case you aren't aware there is a forum called TractorByNet that covers just about everything concerning tractors and equipment . I am a member and visit the site quite often . We just heard the weather report that we could get around 2 ft. of snow Sunday , you may get some too . I forgot to mention what a great video , I can see now I should have one of those in addition to my rotary cutter .
Hey thanks Herb! I have heard of it but have not checked it out yet. I have heard about a storm coming through the NE US this weekend but so far it looks like its not going to hit me. I have been keeping an eye on it though. Thanks for the heads up! Stay warm and safe!
Great video. GP you've sold me on the B2601. I'm down sizing and I've checked out so many small tractors that I'm cross-eyed. I'm like you I don't want to make a big path in my woods but I need a real hoss of a machine to do real utility tractor work and you've sold me. Thank you! I'm going to trade in my 1970 G950 Minneapolis Moline because I simply don't need a big row crop machine since I've sold the farm and now all I've got is 20 mostly wooded acres and I just want to have fun and that little power house will do everything I need and if there's something bigger I may need I'll just rent it and send the monster back when finished. Thanks man.
Hey congrats Jerry! I am glad if the videos helped a bit. Thanks for watching and the support. If you have any questions I am happy to help or answer as best I can. My email is gordpotter55@gmail.com . Sounds like you know tractors very well and understand the limitations etc of the B but always happy to help if you need it. Good luck and let me know how it turns out!
I borrowed a 6ft mower from a fried I only have a L2501 and it worked great. Rpm’s stayed consistent and it was more overgrown. There great and you don’t need a big power tractor
WOW is that a mower or a rototiller .!? What a nice job it does . Love the tractor and all its attachments . Wishing I had one . Keep up the good work . "Deeds not words"
I have a 6 ft flail mower I use to mow brush in the orchard and have the mower running while backing up into a roll helps nock down brush some. . Great mower you have I might just buy small mower this year.
Super job that flail mower (FM) does, GP. I have a rotary cutter for heavier brush but that FM would be nice for me after I cut all the thick stuff. Yep, tell the dealer he made a believer outta me. Thumbs up and have a great upcoming week.
Hey GP I've seen our Department of Highways here in the States use these. They are awesome too. Their equipment has two mowers one behind the tractor and also one mounted on the side of the tractor. The one mounted on the side is for road banks. Quite capable of mowing over top rocks, roots, stumps, and boulders. I think you are right, must be almost indestructible. 👍👍👍
Good morning Dean! Yes I have seen them too here sometimes. This unit I have is the 48". The larger models have a slider on them to allow you to slide the mower out to the side of the tractor, which is pretty neat I think. Cheers and all the best this week!
LOL! Too funny Kevin. You were right. That thing is a beast!! I was afraid of breaking it, but it just keeps on chewing. Thanks for the pep talk!! Have a wonderful week with your family and thanks again for giving me the opportunity to try new implements!! Cheers!
I have a bunch of 'gnarly stuff' taking over my pasture which I'd like to re-claim. What a nice little tractor; I wish I could use one on my sloping terrain, but I'm advised it would be just too tippy.. a small-sized tracked skid steer would be ideal but I can't quite talk myself into the cost of it.
I just watched all your recent videos with this flail mower GP, and man is that thing sweet! Really surprised at what a nice finish it leaves, it seems like it sort of rototills the top layer of ground to create a nice layer for seeding or just letting whatever is there grow back. I thought I wanteda rotary mower, but now I think I NEED a flail mower :) All I have to do now is justify the cost with the finance committee... BTW, congrats on the partnership with Farmer Equipment Sales! You do a great job on your videos and I look forward to seeing more Kubota B series attachments at work. Thanks for sharing, see ya round!
Hey thanks Joe! So nice to hear from you. You and the finance committee have been pretty busy around the homestead for sure lately. I think I have garage envy.LOL. Your garden is coming along great. Thanks for the support. Pretty excited to be able to try new implements and attachments for us to see and learn. I have another good flail mower review coming by end of week you might want to check out. Cheers and all the best!
GP, That was an Awesome video! Thanks for sharing! Thanks to Farmers Equipment Sales for lending their equipment to you so that you can learn all of the different jobs that can be accomplished when you have the right implement. I have to start looking where I can purchase Beco implements near me. Thanks again. Cheers! 👍
Hey good day Nate! Thanks very much. Yes, really good down to earth folks and good products. I am not sure but I think you can only purchase BECO from them. I could be wrong but you can always check with them. Are you in the US?
Good morning and thanks for watching Alex. It's been good for my needs so far and works well on removing rocks from the ground - there are many videos on my channel where I use the grapple and remove and lift rocks - if you are interested, take a look through. On stumps, it is not so good. Without a backhoe, it does not have enough power to dig out stumps very well, at least in my short experience with it on my property. Hope that helps and all the best!
I have a 6 foot bush hog mower for my L3200. It doesn't do as much as a flail mower but it was what I could afford at the time. I do use it to maintain my 2 miles of trails and 3+ acres of food plots. I hope to get a Flail mower someday for clearing. thanks for the video.
Great video, thanks for the information. I've never used a flail mower before but it looks almost like a mini-forestry mulching head. Incredible. Seems to have a bit of trouble with going through low spots or changes in elevation. Awesome for gentle slopes or flat ground though. Thanks!
Good morning Awy! Thanks for watching. I really enjoyed using it. Pretty powerful machine. It worked well overall. Unfortunately I was learning how to use it and had the height set way too low and you may have noticed several spots where it hit underlying rocks - little puffs of smoke come up when the hammers hit the granite and you can hear it slow up a bit. Thanks again for tuning in!
do they make a model for subcompact like Deere 1025r? and what happens with "hidden" stumps, rocks, tops of buried bolders? And are you using hammers or Ys?
That is an awesome attachment! What would happen if you hit a hidden large stump? I know a rotary cutter has a “stump jumper” but what about a flail mower?
Hey good evening Morf. Stay tuned for the next video. I ran over a 16 inch maple stump and it chewed it up like nothing. I couldn't resist so I let it run over it and was pretty shocked that it chewed it up. A lot of power in such a small unit. Cheers!!
The flail mower seems to work better than even a rotary bush hog.. wow. Do you think it would work on 4-5 inch diameter or bigger stumps? Do you think the risk would be worth taking, lol! One tough mower, that’s for sure. I’ve always sworn by King Kutter and Land Pride implements but Beco seems to be proving their worth very well. Seems like a couple more ponies under the hood might help for the thicker stuff, though 25 seemed to seem to spin that thing pretty well. Do you see yourself purchasing one of these in the future, after you have to give it back? Anyways, I gotta run, have a great week. Take care, and cheers!
Hey Jackson. I wish I had an unlimited budget my friend, but I am exhausted for the rest of this year for sure. But honestly, I cannot believe the power of this thing. Maybe in the future but for now, I am going to use it as much as I can until I have to give it back. It kicks butt!! Cheers my friend. Try to stay up tonight to watch the meteor shower after 10 pm. Thanks!!
Hey Gord, I know you did this video a long time ago, but do you remember if that flail mower had " hammer head or grass cutting slicer head on it" thanks, Dan
Hi GP, Another great video! That Flail Mower is quite the beast! I played with my brush hog this weekend, along with completing my 50 hour service on my New Holland. I'll admit though, I still like the smaller Kubotas! That B2601 is amazing. Peace.
Hey HH! Good on you. You have to keep your equipment maintained. This tractor has definitely exceeded my expectations for sure. But hey, get out tonight and grab a blanket and watch the meteor shower after 10:00 pm. This is supposed to be the big night of the year. I am hoping for a clear night to see it! Cheers!
Good day Mike. Great question. Unfortunately I have hit a lot of rocks with this unit (not on purpose but there are just a lot of rocks). Several other folks have asked the same question so I have a video coming out in a few days that will address this. I will show you how the cutters have worn so far. Stay tuned. Great question! Thanks.
Hi GP!! If you had to go just for one between Finish Mower or Flail Mower, which one would you choose? And in case you say Flail Mower, Y Knifes or Hammers? Thanks again for your great videos, cheers!
LOL! You got it covered. In my case, I don't really have a lot of areas that won't be grass in the future (the big clearing is where my garage will be one day) so for my needs here, I would choose the finish mower again. However, if you have areas that have brush or grassy trails or areas that have thicket, as well as a nice lawn area, I would choose the flail for sure, every time. I would take the hammers because they do it all. Another thing I liked about the flail when mowing grass/lawn, is that it kind of gives the lawn a golf course look because it has that big heavy roller on the back so it's like you stripe the lawn, which was pretty cool and the hammers did a good cut on the lawn (not as crisp as my finish) or as good as the knives ( i understand) but certainly was a good cut. Good luck and let me know how it turns out at some point!
great videos from all sides. The flail mower looks great I'll have to consider one, how does it work with the viney stuff will it wrap around the torque tube. Time for a skid plate under Kubota???
Good morning and thanks Bob! It was a really nice piece of equipment to get to learn how to use. No problem with the stringy stuff but the directions said not to cut backwards through the brush because it might wrap around the tube. So I would always lift a bit when backing up and then drop it again. LOL on the skid plate - still thinking about it - I have good clearance under the B and am always alert to the ground I travel over - so far all good. Thanks - all the best!
very impressive. never seen one before. leaves ground nice and smooth, but best of all you don't have that huge brush hog deck swinging around to hit things
that's a nice rig. I wonder if you run over small brush piles if it would grind those up. it could save a lot of time moving brush. as always, great video.
When would you choose this vs a brush hog and vice versa? It looks much more compact than a brush hog and seems to do a great job. Also, do you always have to raise it when going in reverse? Thanks for the video!
I have never had a rotary (bush hog) but I know that the flail will cut nicer than a rotary by design. The main difference I think is that the flail can also be used to cut your lawn and as you will see in another video, it does a pretty decent job of it whereas the bush hog is not designed to give a nice or clean cut. So if I had mainly fields or areas where i am just trying to cut brush etc then a bush hit might be better but If I had property with both fields/brushy areas and also a front lawn, then a flail for sure. And yes, you are not supposed to cut when driving backwards (because of the direction of the rotor spins)Hope that helps.
Before you take it back can you show us a video of what the hammers/knives look like? I am very interested in how they hold up. I would also love to see a close up of the ground after you cut it. I am in the market for a flail mower and being able to see close ups would be a huge help to me.
You bet DP! If you check out my video #67, you will see a review of all the details of it, including a close up of the knives etc. Hope it helps. And watch for the next video coming as I cut some of the front lawn, among other things as well. Cheers!
GP Outdoors thanks, I did watch that video and I was impressed with it. I am curious to see what it looks like after hitting rocks. I am in the wild blueberry business and we moe lots of rocks.
Rocks will ding up the cutting edge of the Hammers a lot.... using knives is more forgiving IMO.... but in rock gardens I would stay with a bush hog. I too wanted to see the hammers after GP ran over a few rocks in this Vid and I know with my Woodmaxx the hammers cutting edge is not liking rocks...consider the rotating mass of the hammer slamming into a rock on it's thin cutting edge and you get the picture...yes it gives being a flail but still messes up the edge
bkrgi I realize that rocks will ding the edges, it is just the cost of business. Knives break after hitting rocks and then you have to stop and replace them, that is time consuming and expensive as well. A bush hog will not cut close enough to the ground. I have looked at the woodmaxx, how do you like it?
I like the Woodmaxx but I would not consider using it in rock gardens....but at the same time in your case it just may be the cost of doing business to get the results you need....at that point it is finding hammers that are better at taking abuse which maybe asking over at tractorbynet flail thread...and seeing what the hammers look like on the Beco now....on my Woodmaxx it curled the cutting edge up on the one hammer after hitting a rock so constantly clipping rocks is going to roll the edge
@@GPOutdoors Thanks. Ive been considering a flail mower and not sure if it would work for me. Your video was very helpful as to the capabilities in heavier brush. Have a great day and a blessed life.
Good morning Bill. I don't have it anymore but I have to say those hammers take a beating. I did a video shortly after this one where i lifted the flail mower up so we could see the condition of the hammers etc after walking a lot of rocks. I was very impressed by the quality or strength of them. Sorry for taking so long to respond. Take care!
That's great Bill. If I may offer, extending the upper link arm adjusts the mower to rest back on the roller and the bottom "skid" shoes are adjustable to also aid in getting the right height. One of the benefits I liked was that when your lawn is green and healthy, you will get a golf course striped effect on the lawn - looks great!
Probably a dumb question, but couldn't you keep it running raised up as you back in too? Just figuring it would knock down some heavier saplings as you back in before dropping it down. Or doesn't a PTO keep going backing up or raised?
Morning KS. Not a bad question at all. The PTO continues whether I drive forward or backwards however the flail mower has hammers hanging from a rotor that spins and throws the hammers in a forward motion. Backing up while it is down is not going to hurt it, but it is not designed to cut driving backwards so the manual suggests that you cut forward with it. Unlike a regular mower that has the blades spinning in parallel to the ground. Hope that helps a bit. Thanks for the q this morning and enjoy the long weekend!
@@GPOutdoors Yup makes sense, all I know about tractors is from reading and videos so just sorting out a lot of basic info before I buy one. Landed on you looking at a flail vs rotary cutter and I really like the mulched fine finish of the flail and I have nasty brush and sapling undergrowth to cut with it. Nothing worse than what you were cutting as an expectation for it.
Been watching your videos Gord. All Good stuff. Just wondering if you have shares in Nescafe? LoL. That flail mower is wicked. Beats a hand held trimmer.
LOL! Good evening Mike! Too funny. Thanks so much for watching - happy you are enjoying them. That flail mower was a real beast. Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Cheers!
Morning Ricky. I wish i could offer an opinion but i have never run a rotary. I have learned that the flail cuts more evenly than a rotary- it is more of a rougher cut. Sorry I could not help much. Good luck!
Hey good evening James. Yes, it was a beast. I really enjoyed learning to use it. It kicked butt. I can't remember the pricing but Kevin and Dave at Farmers Equipment Sales are pretty transparent so all the specs and pricing is on their website. Sorry I don't have them handy where I am, but check out their website and you should find everything there. Cheers and all the best!!
Morning Glenn. The directions and the dealer suggested not to cut backwards with it so I lift it up when backing up. The reason is because the rotor is spinning one way. Thanks!
Important note ----- There are two types of cutters that you can put on a flail mower 1) hammers which are designed to act like a chipper shredder for heavy cutting of brush, and 2) Knives which are designed more for cutting grass. The Knives will cut some brush but not as well as the hammers and the hammers sometimes get tngled up with grass.
Good morning Rattler! Thanks for the info. I did not try out the knives on it but I should have, so I could see the difference in cut quality between the two. That would have made a good video comparison. Have a good long weekend!
Great video! I have a brand new WoodMaxx with the hammer flails that I’ve yet to use - thanks for the encouragement😁. I may have missed whether you are using the hammers or fine finish flails. I’m sure you will discuss in another video but I suppose you are using the heavy duty hammers. Good luck! BTW, are you running the synthetic gear lube? I’m avoiding mail ordering the recommended.SAE 75W-90 synthetic if I can find it locally vs the standard SAE 80W-90 gear oil.
Good morning GR! I had the hammers on it. I honestly can't remember whether that unit had a slip clutch or not. I know it was pulley driven but sorry - I don't recall now. Good luck with yours!
Hey good evening BB. I am not sure it is classified that way but it is sold by Farmer Equipment Sales and perhaps if you give them a shout, they can provide the details you need. Good luck and all the best!
Morning Simon. I do. The rear roller has adjustable height settings and the upper control arm will help set the height as well. When you drop it to the ground, it runs on the rear roller and will follow the contours of the ground. Hope that helps. Cheers!
I use it for breaking pruned cherry branches in my orchard , flail mowers with hammer blades are very good for heavy duty work around the farm they can break thick branches with no problem. Stronger the tractor the better the mower works.
What size is this unit? I know it's a 48" cut! What's the number? I talk to a sales rep, he said my B2601 was to small? I need to know going to buy one! Thanks Arch
Good morning Arch. I no longer have the unit as it was loaned to me by Farmer Equipment Sales. If you call Kevin there (they have a website) and ask him, he can give you the model number. Sorry but I didn't keep the manual or anything. I wonder why your sales person said the tractor was too small(?). All the best!
Good morning Mark. I honestly don't know my friend. I have no experience with a bush hog yet and have not looked into them much beyond the diligence I did before I bought my finish mower. Wish I could help more. Have a good one!
Good morning Mike! Yes indeed - at first I had it set at its lowest point and eventually raised the cutting height later in the summer. It did great for scraping out all that brush - I seeded the area after and now it's all grass. Cheers and thanks for the great question!
Good morning! It was a 48" BECO flail mower. Not sure if you are in Canada but I got it from Kevin and Dave at Farmer Equipment Sales (they have a website by the same name) here in Ontario. They ship across Canada but not into the US. They have also offered out a 10% discount on equipment if you are a GP Outdoors subscriber. Hope that helps. Good luck and all the best!
Good day Jeremiah. I am not sure. I got it from Farmer Equipment Sales - you can check them out on their website. Should see the specs there. It was a great mower. I enjoyed using it while I had it. Have a good one!
Morning MM. Well first off, before I answer, I have never used a brush hog - I have researched them a lot, but never used one. But some differences I would offer (given the above) is that the flail is heavy and rides very tight behind the tractor - easy to maneuver unlike a BH which will hang out behind the tractor with a very large footprint. The BH will cut grass, but it is generally accepted that it does not cut very finely - it is not designed to. The flail will cut grass and provide a good finish, even with the hammers (versus the knives) - what I did like about it is the roller that it rides on. It makes the grass look like a golf course afterwards. I like the idea of buying one implement that will cut grass nicely and also cut brush, and trails. Flail mowers also have models that can be offset either manually or hydraulically - good for doing shoulders and driveway areas. Sorry I can't provide more info but hopefully that offers a few differences for consideration. Hope that helps a bit.
@@GPOutdoors i think the thing that interests me is the ability to off set the cutter. So it would seem..... the BH is a cheaper alt to a flail. What is a rotary cutter vs a BH?

You just gotta love the outcome from a flail mower. It just looks so fine and finished compared to other types of brush mowers
It worked really well for me up here. Thanks for the comment and for watching - Cheers!
Thank you for the most informative video... I really appreciate your insight...

Nice! Sounds like the bush hog does a good job for you, Cleon. Have a good week!
GP your ground is unheven and that mower do a very good job .
Great video GP. A flail mower is on my bucket list, or should I say wish list. I like your grapple fork as well. Thanks for the show.
Gary Fox, Iowa
Good morning to you in Iowa Gary! A couple of good, practical attachments. You're most welcome! Have a great weekend!
G P that mower great there probably not much it can't do except when you new a chain saw
Great video
God Bless
PaK
Wow!! That thing is amazing
LOL. It is a little beast. Cheers!
@@GPOutdoors wishing had something like that, might get a wee Kubota soon
Great. Good luck W2!
That's a nice piece of equipment GP and should give you two minute headstart when the mosquito and black flies come out
LOL. Got to try to get the upper hand on them. Once they know you are out there, they tell all their buddies. :))
do they make a model for subcompact like Deere 1025r? and what happens with "hidden" stumps, rocks, tops of buried bolders? And are you using hammers or Ys?
That is an awesome attachment! What would happen if you hit a hidden large stump? I know a rotary cutter has a “stump jumper” but what about a flail mower?
Hey good evening Morf. Stay tuned for the next video. I ran over a 16 inch maple stump and it chewed it up like nothing. I couldn't resist so I let it run over it and was pretty shocked that it chewed it up. A lot of power in such a small unit. Cheers!!
Hey sorry Morf, it was more like 10-12 inches not 16. Cheers!
That thing is impressive !!!
Thanks!!
What is the # on this so I can buy one? Thanks
Thank you sir!
Wow that’s awesome
Hey Gord, I know you did this video a long time ago, but do you remember if that flail mower had " hammer head or grass cutting slicer head on it" thanks, Dan
Hey Dan, I had them install the hammers on it. Cheers!
Hi GP,
Another great video!
Cheers!
What is the model number, I just order a belco BRCL-155 was hoping to find out which one this is. Thanks and hope you see this comment.
Thanks for a great video,Where can I find these mowers?
Farmer Equipment Sales in Ontario Canada - they have a website by the same name. Good luck!
I like that guy and his disposition in his vids :-)
Thanks for the kind words and for watching Alex! Cheers!
did you use the hammer blades or the "Y" blades?
Hammers. :)
Did you hit any rocks, and what will that do to the cutter.
Thanks.
It makes for a defensible fire break around your home.
is there an adjustment on that mower? looked like there was nothing but dirt left after.
Good morning. Great question. Yes indeed there is and I had it too low. Totally on me - the mower was great. Thanks for the Q - enjoy your Sunday!
Does a great job. Probably would be a problem if you hit a rock or large stump. How do you maintain the blades?
Hey Ken. Great question and excellent timing. Video coming out tomorrow night. Cheers!
Been wanting one of those for years but i need a 6 footer and the price is a little out of my range right now. still hoping.
Hey G.P. That is a nice pull behind
Good morning Ashton! Thanks - it does quite a job cutting for sure. Have a really nice week and thanks for watching!
GP Outdoors Thank you have a bless day
I really want one of these however 2800 is a lil out of my price range at the moment... Love the vid
@@GPOutdoors Thanks a lot for answering and your tips!
And sorry, I didn’t saw your final comments on video #77, where my question was answered. Cheers!
Another great video. Could you do some finish mowing some time with it on grass? Would be interesting to see compared to a finish mower
Молодец! Хорошая работа,я тоже хочу себе мульчер
great videos from all sides.
It was a beast for sure. Nice and compact behind the tractor and very powerful and effective in the brush. Cheers g!
that's a nice rig. I wonder if you run over small brush piles if it would grind those up. it could save a lot of time moving brush. as always, great video.
Cheers CP!
Nice 🏆 🏆
like mini mulcher !
Which teeth do you have mounted. Grass or hammer type?
Hammers.
@@GPOutdoors Thanks. Ive been considering a flail mower and not sure if it would work for me. Your video was very helpful as to the capabilities in heavier brush. Have a great day and a blessed life.
Fun to watch!
GP for some reason I had to resubscribe to your channel. Looks like you bought it. LOL sure does a nice job for what you need. Later
How are you finding it doing in the Rocky areas of the property?
Good morning Bill. I don't have it anymore but I have to say those hammers take a beating. I did a video shortly after this one where i lifted the flail mower up so we could see the condition of the hammers etc after walking a lot of rocks. I was very impressed by the quality or strength of them. Sorry for taking so long to respond. Take care!
@@GPOutdoors Thank you for the response. I have a 48 in on the way.
Cheers!
Would this work better than a rotary cutter for saplings and undergrowth in woods where you have to maneuver between trees?
Thanks
Morning Ricky. I wish i could offer an opinion but i have never run a rotary. I have learned that the flail cuts more evenly than a rotary- it is more of a rougher cut. Sorry I could not help much. Good luck!
Now that is a very nice implement. Do you know what the Price is on that piece of equipment?
Hey good evening James. Yes, it was a beast. I really enjoyed learning to use it. It kicked butt. I can't remember the pricing but Kevin and Dave at Farmers Equipment Sales are pretty transparent so all the specs and pricing is on their website. Sorry I don't have them handy where I am, but check out their website and you should find everything there. Cheers and all the best!!
Does it cut backwards?
What brand name of your flail mower
Where can I get more info on the Beco flail mower?
Good morning Kirk! Kevin at Farmer Equipment Sales here in Ontario sells them (website of the same name). Cheers!
If you had an F-series Kubota, the flail could be front mounted and you would save time by driving forward and cutting at the same time.
Thanks! I think it would be a lot easier looking forward than having to twist backwards all the time. Have a good weekend!
Nice video!
This seems to work very well !
Cheers!
Also, any info or advice on shear pin vs slip clutch?
Good morning GR! I had the hammers on it. I honestly can't remember whether that unit had a slip clutch or not. I know it was pulley driven but sorry - I don't recall now. Good luck with yours!
Off the topic, but to you know the weight of your grapple? Thanks my next purchase.
Is this a standard or heavy duty flail mower? I am definitely looking to buy one now as it seems to outperform the bush hog.
Hey good evening BB. I am not sure it is classified that way but it is sold by Farmer Equipment Sales and perhaps if you give them a shout, they can provide the details you need. Good luck and all the best!
Is that thing directional? I notice you always turn off the PTO when backing up. Can’t you run it backwards or not? Thanks.
Hey good evening Jeff. It is directional. You can't mow backwards. So I lift it and back up and drop it again. Cheers!
How many horsepower is your tractor ?
Hi Danny. It's 25 HP on the engine and the PTO is 19.5 HP.
@@GPOutdoors thank you !!
He should have said "if you break, I fix free!" Do you trust your product or not?
U just use the 3pt in a float mode with this?
So do you think that this is a reasonable substitute for a brush hog?
Good morning Mark. I honestly don't know my friend. I have no experience with a bush hog yet and have not looked into them much beyond the diligence I did before I bought my finish mower. Wish I could help more. Have a good one!
I can see a flail mower in my future gord lol
It was a beauty for sure!
I wonder how it would do in kudzu?
That's a good question Simon. :)
Can you adjust the cutting high?
Good morning Mike! Yes indeed - at first I had it set at its lowest point and eventually raised the cutting height later in the summer. It did great for scraping out all that brush - I seeded the area after and now it's all grass. Cheers and thanks for the great question!
I have a b2601 and want your flail mower. What is the size width and make and model?
Good morning! It was a 48" BECO flail mower. Not sure if you are in Canada but I got it from Kevin and Dave at Farmer Equipment Sales (they have a website by the same name) here in Ontario. They ship across Canada but not into the US. They have also offered out a 10% discount on equipment if you are a GP Outdoors subscriber. Hope that helps. Good luck and all the best!
Do they offer it in a front mount configuration?
I don't believe so. But you can check out Farmer Equipment Sales' website - they may have something. Cheers and good luck!
Is that the medium or heavy duty model?
Good day Jeremiah. I am not sure. I got it from Farmer Equipment Sales - you can check them out on their website. Should see the specs there. It was a great mower. I enjoyed using it while I had it. Have a good one!
Honest question....... what are the benifits vs a brush hog?
Sorry MM. A rotary cutter is also called a Bush Hog, or Brush Hog, I have seen it called. I used BH for ease of typing.
@@GPOutdoors thank you, it just clicked, please do not waste any more time on me and get back to tractoring.
LOL. Never a waste of time - thanks for supporting my channel! Cheers!
