Just FYI never use store bought dice and use them for molds if you are planing to sell what you make. These dice are made by someone or a company and the font used is more than not under their ownership and copyright. Know some like Chessex whos the bigger dice makers out there have sued people for 'replicating' their dice. The dice in this video do look to be Chessex dice. It's okay if it's for personal use, but if you plan to sell it, you need to make your own master dice you design yourself, with your own font. It's the font used that's the issue most the time.
thats a really good point, thank you for adding that!! font licenses are definitely always a finicky matter, I didnt think about that in regards to dice!
@@_itsmarie maybe add that in the discription as a just in case. When dealing with fonts it's always best to read the license agreement. Many are free to use for products designed for resale, but many are not. Even if the font is generic looking, better to be safe than sorry.
How do you make your own master dice? I'm starting to get invested in dice making and I wasn't aware of the legalities of fonts until just now so I'm wondering how to make a dice mold with dice without having to buy dice to start with? It's like a paradox. Are there dice you know of that I can purchase and use for molds where the font is free to use?
honestly this tutorial feels very user-friendly compared to most, where they're using extremely expensive products. thank you for making this, you've saved me a lot of money!!
@@_itsmarieyes as the person above stated, thank tou for making dice making feel a little more approachable for more people. I thought I had to have a pressure pot to start out with but your video helped me to see I don't need it right away!
Wow. This is awesome! I have not seen someone work with silicon before, and this was very eye-opening. Thank you. The camera shake is understandable, and it was very informative. I absolutely love the energy you bring to the world with this video! Thank you again!
Could you share where you found the silicone bowl/ramekin you use? I would like to use this since it seems the most straight forward way, all the store I went to I couldn't find it.
The little dices look so cute! Need to play dnd together, please! Love how my flowers are poking through the background 🥰 Now I know how to make molds and dices, all thanks to you baby! ♥️
Thank youso much for this video! I cant afford a pressure pot yet but i have everythibg else that i need to start making my own dice. I was going to asit til i got a pressure pot but this video encouraged me to try it with out the pressure pot! Your dice came out so nice i love the color and the gold flakes in it!
Those "matrix" dice are similar to my favorite set so the thumbnail caught my attention. =P I'm about to start in the dice-making hobby. Still trying to make an improvised a pressure chamber with a cooking pot. 😂😅 Once I finish that tool I'll finally start. I'm thinking about making some red and green with gold flakes dice e glitter. Probably a good idea. 😅
I have been using this tutorial and finally got my mold made! Your video made is so unbelievably easy lol. When it comes to actually making the dice, hav you found yourself needing any kind of mold release spray to get them out? (I didn’t see any in the video)
that's awesome! I'm glad it helped!! 🎉 I have made several dice sets without using a mold release spray, and it works great! the resin pieces are very easy to remove from the mold without any breaking or residue. good luck with making your dice!
@@_itsmarie thank YOU for the incredible tutorial! ❤️ I’m new to resin but was gifted a kit for Christmas and have been dying to use it. I had been struggling to find an approachable moldmaking video but yours was wonderful! I bought the silicone and had a completed mold within two days (mine had a longer cure time)
thank YOU for watching!! I didn't, because unfortunately I don't have a pressure system yet! I mixed the resin very slowly and used a lighter to get rid of surface bubbles, that worked pretty well. but there is of course the risk of getting bubbles anyway!
Great video! It's been super useful but I do have a question. I've tried to make silicone moulds with a silicone bowl and it's gone okay but not great. Was wondering where you got your silicone thing that you're making the dice mould in this video? Maybe I'm just not looking up the right thing but I can't find anything that works for me 😭
Thank you! I get that struggle, I searched for mine for a while haha. I got mine off of aliexpress, by searching for "silicone cake mold"! Ive seen the same ones on amazon too so maybe youll find one there!!
I have some dice that are hollow. Can I still use this method but say, only cover half the dice, let the mold set, then the rest of it? Do you think that would turn out ok?
Where can I get the silicone container like that for the mold pour? I only see too big or too small, and then try creating my own from random containers and they suck. Was going to make a silicone container like that but couldn’t even find an object to base it off of and would be back to my original problem, would need a container for it 😂 plz send help
Hey, I know it's been a while since you uploaded the video XD But this made me want to try making my own DND Dice too and I was wondering if you know how much Silicon I'd need for a 12,2 x 12,2 x 6,8cm mold? I just bought the same pink pre-mold as you (just as a square instead of a circle) and I can't wait to start~
Roughly how many ounces of silicone did it take to make this mold? Awesome tutorial. I've been wanting to make my own and not spend $100+ on buying this type of mold.
Curious if you have an idea on how much silicone you actually used for this? I'm ready to make a mold, but I'm concerned now I don't have enough silicone Also curious as to the cup you used for the mold making here?
I used about 7 ounces for the base and 4 ounces for the lid - I hope that helps! For the cup I used a silicone cake mold, you can usually find similar ones on amazon!
@@_itsmariethat was very helpful! Do you have a recommended distance apart for your dice? I assume you don't want them too close together? And curious if you have an issues with rounded edge dice vs harder edge? Lol
It depends on the type of silicone you use, mine cures after about an hour so I started working on it a few hours later. The safest thing to do is to leave it overnight though!
its from a german brand called LM Kreativ! Id recommend looking at amazon or different sites to find good silicone brands where you live. good luck!! :^)
This is awesome! Thanks for making this, best tutorial for dice making I've seen. I'm going to combine it with this DIY pressure pot ua-cam.com/video/CnzFyiInOZs/v-deo.html
Why are you using a silicone container? That is not smart to risk expensive product and time. It's a rule, silicone sticks to silicone, in fact silicone is the only thing that will adhere to silicone. USE A LIL GLASS, PLASTIC, METAL CONTAINER SILLY WOMAN! You can find all shapes and sizes at the dollar tree. I use legos so I can build whatever size I need. I seal the bottom with hot glue.
thanks, I knew that! if you watched the video, I explained that I spread some vaseline on the inside of the silicone container to prevent the silicone from sticking. and as you can see, it worked perfectly fine!

I highly recomment cutting _different_ shapes for guide marks. Because if they’re symmetrical like the ones here, you might mess up the number angles.
