- We spent a lovely weekend with the Maasai. The Maasai is one of the famous tribes in Tanzania. Together with them we went on a walking safari while the kids rode along on the back of a donkey. We enjoyed the amazing landscapes and slept in a Maasai Hut.

WHO ARE WE?
Welcome on our channel. I am Selma. Wife of Ngomi and mother of 3 children: Josephine (2010), Christian (2013) en Daniel (2016). We live in Tanzania, East Africa, on the foothills of the famous Kilimanjaro and close to national parks such as Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater.
In our weekly ‘vlog’ we try to give you a peek in our daily life as a family in Tanzania. A mix of our work, our kids but most of all of beautiful Tanzania.
Ngomi and I started our safari outfitter Makasa in 2009 and we organize tailor-made safaris and holidays for individuals. Apart from safaris, we also offer various excursions to several tribes, as well as holidays of a lifetime to the sun-soaked beaches of Zanzibar. The secret of Makasa’s success lies in our personal service and approach. We will help you plan and organize the entire tour package of your choice, carefully considering aspects such as group composition, available budget and travelling schedule. Based on the outcome of these considerations, we will work with you to optimize your itinerary and set up the arrangements down to the finest detail.

I've visited several Maasai villages and what she is showing us is very luxurious compared to how they really live. I understand this village is set up for tourism so it does give you some idea of their way of life but if you are in Kenya and want the real experience ask your Driver/Guide to take you to an authentic Maasai village. I was dropped off at 2 Maasai villages and 1 Samburo village all by myself and left there for several hours. At all 3 the Chiefs son took me for a personal tour and explained everything about their lives. Being a single woman I felt very comfortable and safe. The Maasai are truly amazing wonderful people and I highly recommend visiting an authentic village!

A doctor from Austria helped them set it up and is involved. But the profits go all the Maasai community. It’s a very nice concept 🦓

Ben 2 maal te gast geweest in een camp, door Gambianen gerund, in een volstrekt niet toeristisch gebied, opgezet door een Doctor van het AMC. Ik heb mijn hart verloren na meerdere reizen in Afrika (SA, Namibië, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Swaziland,Kenia, Marokko, Tunesië, Gambia, Senegal....). Elk land heb ik in mijn hart. Vanwegen mijn handicaps kan ik niet meer reizen. Dat doet heel veel pijn. Maar door jullie kan ik het reizen een pietsie klein beetje "mee beleven'".

Your daughter was so courageous with the blood aka juice lol!! Beautiful place!! I would say they need a solar heating cover for the pool. Put it on at night it trap the heat and during the days or morning the pools not use you leave it on. Such spirited people. Love their energy and singing!! I have to put this on my bucket list for sure. Visit the Masai Mara!!

@@Dany-nx7th Yeah me too. How is it possible to drink blood? According to the Christian Bible it's a sin to drink or eat blood. And it's raw...I can imagine the raw smell and taste... and the diseases it carries. I appreciate the different lifestyles of any culture, but not always the eating habits. I would have refused the blood, and politely apologised.
