A few other people mentioned it, but the hydraulic press design is dangerous. You shouldn't share it. Especially when a quality one is so cheap, and you're already using over $200 in tool steels and parts. Pressure on the threads is critical. Even if the jack only went up an inch, it could launch parts at violent speeds at any angle.
The slide hammer design would be ideal to remove pilot shaft bushings/bearings for manual transmissions. It actually looks like it would work better than the commercial pullers i've bought and used for that purpose. Most of those worked very poorly, if at all
It looks like you would have to thread in pretty far for it to work a through bearing like what he used it on seems to work fairly well but a blind hole bearing like a pilot bearing I don't see you getting too much use out of this tool bread and a punch just slightly under the ID of the bearing works really well or Grease and some paper towel and a punch.
That last one is a bit dangerous. Effectively putting tons of pressure on a few cap screws in top section. Top plate should be mounted differently. The attachment for lifting from the floor is nice though.
That hydraulic press is an accident waiting to happen! It will fail, only a matter of time. Why did you bolt those pipes instead of welding? Horrible idea.
Of cause you can make any tool you want when you have a complete workshop. For the rest of us who do not have a complete workshop, it will be cheaper to buy the tools you need.
Perhaps. But when you have bought enough tools, then guess what you can do! For instance, you don’t really have to polish the first tool, do you? And a hacksaw can replace the reciprocating saw. Lastly, if you pay attention here you might develop a sense of creativity that will assist you when the tool you need doesn’t exist.
Such ingenuity! Please teach your children these things. I don’t know where you are from but here in the US our children are not being taught even basic use of hand tools.
No need for today's children to learn to use hand tools: all the jobs have been exported. When a need arose, my generation reached for tools; today's generation reaches for cell phones and checkbooks (or digital payment app). Note that while most of the stuff in this video is visually interesting, it really is of little value functionally.
65CSX yes that is true. I’m going to try to make a difference in my grandsons lives as they grow. Building electric go karts, taking things apart and putting them back together again. How ridiculous to tear up an angle grinder and make a crappy version of what an angle grinder with a flap wheel or sanding disc could do, and much better/faster.
Unless you’ve finally realized we are supporting a Communist economy that is stealing and bootlegging our designs and patents as well as hurting our domestic manufacturing.
