Hi there where can i get sime theraband 3mm or 1/8" flat sheet? Simpleshot sells pre cut but 6$ a pop is dear after postage across the world in new zealand. Anychance you could tell me a reliable latex tube supplier that doss 9mm or 3/8" tube? As i run four tubes for killing rabbits and extruded tube sucks!!
Great video man. I am asked that all the time. The active band length is the one that gets me or what elongation I use. No regard to draw length or ammo size. When speed testing I use the max elongation of the elastic. Then divide it by my draw length to give my active length. These bands don't last at all. Usually I will add a 1/2- 1cm to the active band length to add some longevity and it doesn't reduce the speed too much. I just tend to tell folks to stick to one brand and size consistency is accuracy's best friend. I may need to give one of those straight tapers a go. Great stuff man. Stay safe
Thanks for this. I consider you one of the best. A while back I bought a high slingshot from Marco Brunetti. It came to me with multiple non-tapered flat bands. I thought it odd at first. But when I shot it I was on target, and the bands last a very long time. Love your stuff. Keep um coming. Thanks.
Only started learning slingshot early February…… Dam it’s addictive when you start seeing progress, I’m now using straight cut bands as you suggested, and feel I’m doing well with them, just in from hitting a fifty pence piece from 45’….. stoked!….super tight consistency isn’t there yet, but it’s coming. Top channel Joefe many thanks
Yes it is all personal preference. The only way to figure it out is just to start shooting and try different things . It may take a while but eventually you will find what works for you. There is no magic set up.
So... What are the best bands? 😝. No but seriously, what slingshot community really needs is a slingshot wiki with some hard data about bands, tapers, ammo etc.
It's not really that simple though, like he says in the video use at least .45 to have power to hunt, but with the latex that i use .45 won't even get 8mm steels fast enough for me to feel comfortable taking game with, let alone the 8 and 10mm leads or 3/8 steels that i use, .6 is the thinnest i use and some brands .6 isn't even good enough as some are stiffer than others. There is so many variables the only way for a shooter to truly know what's best is to buy a few different ammo sizes, some different brands and thicknesses of latex and a chronograph and test it out, thickness of latex isn't a simple thicker is more powerful with some brands either, i use sumeike quite a lot and the blue .6 is amazing speed and hunting power with a stiff snap, the .65 natural colour sumeike however is really light and stretchy feeling and puts out nowhere near the power that the .6 does in the same brand. Too many variables to possibly compile all the data and lay it out so anybody would bother to read through it.
I got 1.5mm precise band is that ok in new in this... i just rendomly ordered them now im confuse these arent in my hand right now These are precise 1.5mm golden colored ones... pls suggest me aomething best@@Hain72
this video is the best clarify video on entire youtube....very simple words used and very simple video made so that every new upcomer shooter with catapults wll understend....
Thanks Joefe just been out and got really good results after getting my band length comfortable and right. Ive had some really spot on shots taking small crab apples of the top of a well stocked tree at 35 feet so me practice goes on every day without fail and then a spot of Hunting theres 100s of pigeon around here at the mo
My question is what size 6mm , 7mm, 8mm that’s my question? What does the size change do? Yes I’m new but I have draw length and tapers and shit size I just don’t know what different mm will do.?
For hunting? 8mm steel minimum. Thicker bands are for heavier ammo, personally I wouldn't go any thicker than 0.7mm for 9.5mm steel, any thicker should be using no smaller than 11mm steel or 10mm lead. Thicker bands aren't always faster, thicker stronger bands are for heavier ammo.
the best catapult rubber, black solid round rubber 15mm thick with iron pellets or glass marbles, we slice in 2 and use it, extremely super, you never go for a band
Helpfull video I seem to struggle with my rotary cutter it seems like it's riding the edge of my ruler and not cutting consistently any tip would be great
@@Joefeslingshot It seems like it. I've started making my own slingshots recently. it is fun making and shooting them. Cheaper than going to the range, for sure.but I am amazed how amazing some shooters are with slingshots.
Video isn't titled correctly. Should be calculating slingshot band length. I was looking for a comparison between multiple band brands cause the material differences.
With that bands and ammo I would try 22-14 or 25-15. Often people without chronograph think that their wide thick bands give more power cause they feel heavy. Wrong! It's not a bow.

Kevin, I woul personally recommend a non aggressive taper like 25-20 rather than straight bands if you looking for longevity. Straight bands have tendency for failure at a random point so you they can hit your face. Even small taper almost guarantees failure at the pouch end, so your face and eyes are safe. I always use safety glasses when shooting a slingshot or an air rifle. Never too careful...

Is .1mm to thick for a straight cut bands and shoot 9.5 steel for hunting small game?
You can always cut them thin. I would try 15-10 taper with that ammo.
