Reviewing this video some in hindsight and now as a CFII, a few things jump out at me: * LOC BC procedures are a gap in training. They are rare but they exist (at least in California) and it's easy to get lulled into false sense or security that an HSI will not reverse sense. It absolutely will. * It's important important to test / familiarize yourself with new avionics in good conditions before trying things in "hard IFR." Imagine flying that approach in actual IMC! * Flying approaches in VMC even without a view-limiting device is still valuable even if they can't be logged. I believe seeing what's happening helps you construct greater situational awareness that helps you when you are in IMC.

I’ve been shopping for either a 182 or Dakota. I want a gfc 500 for sure. Trained with the 700 and they track really well.
