Do you think anyone can go under 7 hours for everesting?
Yes.
Of course, if they are lucky with having a strong tailwind uphill then I guess a couple of cyclists would be able to go under 7 hours. I still don't really understand why I have never seen an everesting video where they would have mentioned wind strenght and direction however I think it plays a huge role.
Yes, it might even be him again. Its just about managing the effort and ceeping it consistent.

Yes, I do once the optimum logistics are worked out. Be a great topic for an Ollie Tech video- choice of hill, gearing, bike choice, temperature, nutrition, training.
This was a super gutsy attempt- well done getting it finished once the record slipped away. Now, can someone explain why these hugely talented cyclists, with access to any gear they want, consistently choose the wrong gearing? It's become like a GCN trademark. There is 0 advantage to having higher gears for an event like this, and a considerable advantage to having one low enough. Can someone explain this please?

Tried doing an everest attempt in the Netherlands, took me 10000km to get the height ;)
@@DaleRC75 just no, you could better go like 10k down to the liege/belgian limburg province since the mountains there are way steeper, wich would obv make it easier

Great to see this from inside and Chapeau to Max. I couldn't have lost the British record to a nicer guy! Wish I'd come down for the day to support having seen that - I knew the outcome before I watched it but still had butterflies anyway.

Having done an Everesting myself, 89 reps of a climb, I can doff the cap to Max. Took me 18 hours, so 7h 30m is just insane.
Cracking effort Max! Strange to think that earlier this year I was gunning for the British record at 10 hours, the progression has been insane. I found the exact same thing with the gearing, something that felt absurdly easy during the first half had me weaving up the climb by the last hour.
Once Pogacar has won everything else he should have a go and see where the limits are.

Pogi would completely destroy it when he is on form. Maybe even around 6h30min with everything diled out perfect.
4th fastest! Amazing! Way to go. Finishing when you knew you didn't have the record shows a lot of character.
I completed my Everest ride just over a week ago, and it was amazing. I picked a climb for the scenery, riding my favorite local hc climb. Very technical descent, so I had an excuse when I didn't break the world record 😀. I absolutely loved the experience, and was proud to have something in common with Ollie 😀.
Congratulations Max! I think it is very important and very good that this story is shown, because that is part of cycling, not only when the objectives are achieved, but also "the process" of achieving it, and this is part of that. Family and friends support you. Never give up, you can do it Max! Good video! greetings to all the GCN team!

Wow! I just did an Everesting - 82.3 ascents of a local hill for charity - I’ve biked for nearly 50 years, Ironman, Marmotte, 3 peaks CX and this was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Emma Pooley said she liked it because it’s a challenge for anyone- elite or average. Until you’ve done one I’m not sure you can appreciate just how hard it is- so this ride just blew me away and 7.00 hours can definitely go - probably by Max if he goes again.
