Fatui is Latin lol. The word "Fatui" is Latin for "Fools." In Italian, its meaning is "someone who works hard, but fruitlessly."

When will she play the game?
To summarize Xiao’s personality, he’s a war veteran with PTSD except he suffers PHYSICAL pain from all the monsters he killed as well as survivor’s guilt. He’s a very edgy boy, but a fan favorite.
fun fact: Ganyu canonically killed a monster because it swallowed her and her waist was so large that she got lodged in its throat and suffocated it to death

It was on her childhood that she can't transform into her human form yet, so at that time she was in Qilin (kirin) form and was so chubby the monster choked to dead. That's why now she's so slim in human form compared to Shenhe which is another Cloud Retainer's disciple like her.
@@Crescentfangs actually i don't think that's completely true, the half adepti don't have their beast like forms, they only have their human forms. also even assuming they did, i highly doubt it would take them long to learn since we have yanfei, who is closer to normal human age since both her parents are still alive and her human parent is apparently young enough to go traveling, and she is in "human form".
the reality is they can't shape shift at all. if they could ganyu would get rid of/hide her horns since she doesn't like people looking at them.
there are also possibly some deeper lore implications on why the half humans remain only human in appearance...
anyway, the real reason she got stuck is because she can get overweight very easily because of being a half qilin who normally don't need to eat much but a few flowers every so often to survive. so if she, who is part human, eats like a human, which she is able to do unlike a normal qilin, she will gain hundreds of pounds very quickly.

I think Ganyu as of now just has a ptsd of that incident so she eats less than normal to stay as slim as possible.

her diet consists entirely of flowers now, but even with them she will avoid certain ones (like sweet flowers, which make sugar in game, and is also her favorite) out of fear they will make her fat, and will avoid eating them even when starvingly hungry. which is pretty sad since she can survive off of like 2 or 3 flowers a day which is almost nothing as is.

so fun fact, the voice direction and pronunciation for the characters is actually a deliberate choice by mihoyo.
early on there were a lot more correct pronunciations, but then a few months into the game they redid a bunch of voice lines and made them "wrong"
then down the line people started harassing the voice actors for "saying it wrong" and then a few voice actors came out and said, not only were they said to say it that way, but it wasn't just from the translation people but directly from mihoyo, directly from the chinese side of things.
the most notable example, they actually have several voice actors with the nationality of their characters, who speak both english and the characters language fluently, but still pronounce it wrong because they were instructed to do it that way.
which is funny when you think about the voice calls with the language directors, getting yelled at by the Chinese devs because the voice actors pronounced the Chinese names right instead of wrong... lol
beyond all of that, there is actually a good reason they do it this way, the voice actors that came out because of the harassment explained that its done so characters don't randomly go into an accent for a random word in the middle of a sentence. its to make it all flow more naturally. in fact early on they straight up changed some words or names so they didn't have to worry about it, but people complained so they decided to go with this method... but then people complained again... and so... no one is ever happy apparently.
Usual practice in the industry (sadly), yeah. Its Direction most of the time.
I was happy because I knew Mihoyo would do this and as a person who usually likes to hear a localized dub of that language, I would rather listen to a wrong pronounced name than someone who's trying too hard to get the name right lol

Okay so what I've learned from this is apparently every character who is less than 6'' tall is a "bottom" (weak, submissive I guess) with very few exceptions who are "switch" (never heard this and google is no help). And every tall character is a "daddy".
And every female character is either an "onee chan" or a "mommy".

@@Mrs.Ragnvindr that's a normal thing though. The Chinese do the same to Japanese names. This happens because the Japanese use Kanji, which is a Chinese alphabet alongside their other two alphabets. It's a very weird concept. Similar to how different languages pronounces the same letters differently while we mostly share the same alphabet. But in Japanese and Chinese alternate reading of names seems to be a part of the rules or something.

3:45:24 - You have no idea how much weight is behind those words. A truckload of trouble looks like a bite-sized portion when compared to the baggage he's carrying around... He's responsible for most of that himself, though. And he knows that.
I felt you so much on the pronunciations, haha (even though "Fatui" is Latin, not Chinese). I honestly love the English dub and I think the voices are great, but as a native Mandarin speaker the pronunciations in Liyue were too distracting for me even though I totally understand why they made the choices they did. I saw that you were interested in hearing the JP voices - I'd also suggest checking out the CN dub if you get the chance; I feel like it doesn't get the attention it deserves for how good it is (same with the KR dub really, they're both underrated), and you get to catch nuances in the script that can be lost in translation to the other languages.
On another note, if you enjoyed the trailers I'd also recommend giving the character teasers a watch (basically animated shorts that give some more insight into a character's story/personality) as well as the Teyvat Chapter Preview that was released with the game's launch, which gives an overview of where things will be going over the course of the next few years. The collected miscellany videos tend to be drier, but they do also have some lore tidbits and can be really helpful if there's a particular character you want to learn how to play in-game since they teach you about each character's kit. There's plenty of other auxiliary content that might be worth looking at too, but would probably best be saved until you've progressed more in the game since it might contain some plot spoilers.
You know.. I just don't get the big issue with people pronouncing things "wrong". As someone who speaks fluent Spanish and has a very Mexican/Spanish name, if people want to call me Luis, or pronounce it like "Louis", it's fine with me. Whatever's easier for them. Same for if someone wants to say "Carne Asada" or just pronounces it very Americanized like "Carney Ahsadah", I don't see the problem. If they can manage to do it, cool. If they can get it as close as they can, that's fine too.
The only way I can ever see a problem is if someone is doing it to bother someone else.

So just in case this wasn't clarified:
Tsaritsa - female form of "czar" or "tsar"
Czar - Slavic word, derived from "Caesar"
Caesar - Latin title used by Roman emperors after Julius Caesar
So she's the empress of Snezhnaya. Fitting that they used the Slavic title derived from Latin when taking the Russian influences Snezhnaya has and the Latin/Italian influences the Fatui organization displays.

What Albedo keeps referring to as "chalk" would be easier to explain as "calcium" in the modern world. "Chalk" is calcium carbonate and is a limestone that is described as earthy (it does come from the earth!) and it just so happens to be an essential mineral that drove the evolution of life around the time of its genesis. The existence of calcium in pre-Cambrian seas drove living organisms to develop somewhat significant attributes like photosynthesis, multicellularity, biocalcification and skeletogenesis. Without it, aside from the fact plants wouldn't really be possible, pluricellular organisms wouldn't exist and even if they did, say goodbye to that nice skeleton you have coz it exists because CHALK!
So calcium is a pretty big thing when it comes to the development of life. And as Albedo mentions it is very much the substance from which primal life was molded.

This one guy that kept nitpicking EN dub made me watch the whole thing with the chat off. I mean can we just appreciate the good? JP has the greatest consistency amount most of the characters. CN has the best poetic lines. EN does a phenomenal job VAing the older characters and the villains. Isn't this supposed to be a multilingual stream? I speak all three so I periodically switch between the three languages during my time playing genshin.

Mino chan, to make it easier to collect primos just be light spender like monthly pass and BP banner. If you can play almost everyday it will be a steal, you can only login every 30 minutes per day minimal and do all daily and weekly quests & achievements. Primos will bulk in no time. You can go ftp but it will take too long if u didnt play every day
I was a bit confused about when Hu Tao said the Fatui part, from what I read and found out through various google searches as well as asking a friend Fatui is not a Chinese word but Latin, its apparently not even the same word or remotely same pronounciation, not to mention quite literally every character pronounces the name the same exact way basically. I really enjoyed the vid tho! Really love your personality ^^
Edit: Also I think you are a little too harsh on the pronounciation parts, I get it, its fun to make fun of stuff like that, but sometimes they are genuinely following the instructions that the producers gives them, even if the pronounciation isn't correct, like with Fischl for example, certian things she says are done wrong on purpose, and with Ayaka I didn't say "Jutsu" wrong really? I am not from Japan, but I know that from certain japanese dubbed anime they prounce it that way, and those are japanese voice actors working with japanese directors (most notably Naruto and his most famous Kage Bushin no Jutsu)

@@Keiki-kun I'd say English is no more complex than the rest of them when you get right down to the grammar and pronunciation. There are more rules in place compared to other languages but those other ones also have caveats to them to make the language in question more complicated than it needs to be. Native speakers for all languages, including English, know this all too well. Such is how language is and continues to evolve over time.
My personal experience growing up, I found it was more about memorization of vocabulary rather than constantly going back to which grammatical rules to follow. I'd wager most people who've learned English are like that

When I first got the game I didn’t want to spend any money and just grind primo gems. Then Zhongli’s banner came back and it was all downhill from there.
My advice is just save for the characters you REALLY want or spend only every other month. Self control is the key and it’s hard for me with my adhd. My gf too. She really wants Kokomi and I want to wait for Zhongli again to get his constellation up. But if we get too many bad rolls we don’t go until the pity because living expenses come first.
Bro, why is she so bothered about some pronunciations? Like, almost no voice actor is capable of speaking so many tittles/names in a language he does not speak without some error or a bit of its original accent.

I agree that JP is far more consistent quality wise across the board but when they nail it with the ENG dub they nail it hard so much so that I tend to play more often in ENG these days because of it

They use both a Latin and English name for the Harbingers interchangeably.
So Tartaglia is Chile, La Signora is The Lady, Scaramouche is The Balladeer, Arleccino is The Knave, etc.
The reason why Candace and Cyno show a lot of skin is because they live in the Desert, which means the Desert is really hot, so wearing thick clothes would be uncomfortable

They try to take inspiration from many different cultures in there naming so 7 out of 10 times they mispronounce the names .... also JP localisation completely ignores the names and gives them new JP names... so don't be hard on EN dub they are trying there best 😅
yeah i only found that out after the stream xD i went into this compleettteeelllyyy blind. still haven't heard the JP stuff but i plan on it for tomorrow's genshin stream ^~^ EN dub for any game really tends to anglify anything that isn't English and the same goes any other dub since it makes it easier for people to understand games in their native tongue. regardless, it was fun to learn about 🥳

@@MinoMieko deep into the game in his last story quest you get told that before joining the fatui and being nicknamed childe he used to be called Ajax which is his real name, in fact all fatui harbingers have a name (like we all do like your parents gave it to you... well except wanderer but eh) + a "fatui" italian name (ie tartaglia, signora, scaramouche ...) and a title, in his case its childe (don't forget the "e"), for scaramouche it's the baladeer so yeah he has 3 aliases
You should probably look up a tier list to see which characters will be the most useful gameplay wise

Aether and Lumine are older than just 500 according to in game profile the twins have seen the birth and death of stars. But at the very least they are 500 as the nation of Khaenri'ah was destroyed 500 years ago.

All of the characters from inazuma, are fantasy Japanese. So you are trying to pronounce "japanese" words with a "chinese" accent

If you look at these character designs and they make you think 'MOAR!' you may want to check out the _Honkai Impact 3rd_ PVs, which contain character trailers. Hoyo is less restricted in their designs in _HI3_ because there's no EN dub.

- the Unknown God's design is based on God Kiana

English pronunciation is different from Japanese/Chinese. You should watch the Japanese trailers if you don't like English one. Quite annoying to see you pause every time.
