My house was a mess when the kids were small. It happens. Don’t feel bad about having your family help because they helped make the mess and it teaches them how to deal with it. Keep going!
It's such a good idea to simplify the contents of the classroom. The more "little" things kids have to dump and kick around the floor, the worse the reorganization becomes. Plus I do believe everyone learns better and feels better in a calm environment. Congratulations!! The room looks terrific.
This is real life mess!! I’m glad you had everyone pitch in because you shouldn’t have to be overwhelmed on your own. It seems like lately you have just reached your limit with the clutter and it’s helping you make all these hard decluttering decisions! I’m proud of you
Retired homeschooling mom here! We homeschooled for over 20 years and I don't regret a single moment. I also discovered that a house with active kids requires regular decluttering. It's not a one-and-done, but best done as often as you can bring yourself to do it. At least twice a year, I still get excited to go through everything and tame any hot spots that may be threatening to become major fires! It gets easier and I think it was more seasonal when the kids were young. So much stuff coming in! The room looks great!!
@@LeafLikeOnATree You are exercising those "declutter" muscles!! Eventually, it becomes so much more manageable even on low-energy days. You'll find that what looks like a big mess tidies up in such little time because everything has a place and it just needed a little TLC. (not a big "I have to think about every item" type of cleaning!) Love your videos!!
I did do home school in 2020. I was a wreck at the end of the day. I just had 2 kids to help. I will not ever do that again. I am not a teacher and I just do not have the patience. So I applaud you! Good to see you!
It will benefit your kids so much if they have to participate in the cleanup. Accountability for their own contributions to the mess teaches them to put things away. They are old enough. A chore chart is a major helper!
Looks like you did exactly like I would: focus on laundry, pick up trash, then deal with the not-trash mess. Focused rounds like that make make the job feel much less overwhelming.
I just found you and have to say.... Where have you been my whole life??? Your sense of humor and honestly- the RAGE.... is what I SUFFER most with. It can be all consuming and it's not the person I want to be. I agree with the concerns with the education system here. My daughter is 3 and started her preschool education this year. She has a complex medical condition that requires constant observation and to be honest- I don't trust the school district to supply a quality nurse to ensure her safety. So, we made the choice to homeschool. My days are balanced between her medical needs and her educational needs. Right now, that's how it has to be. Hopefully, things will change soon, if not that's okay too. You're an inspiration. We can get through this together.
Amazing job! Woo hoo. Great job family! I know you felt angry and stressed at the beginning but remember that D clutter process is like peeling an onion. One layer at a time. We all have to go back to spaces over and over. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. You got this thing👍🏼💝
Girl you had me rolling laughing with the crack alert. 😂😂😂😂 Your vlogs are always the best. We homeschool for some of the same reasons and to top my oldest was bullied by a teacher the youngest struggled and the teacher would basically yell at him. I just said enough is enough. I work from home but by God's grace we've done it. Proud of you girl and your not the only one I'm working on decluttering my house too. I think you're doing pretty good momma! 😘😘😘💖💖💖💖
On rough days for me, I also find that homeschooling is almost always a source of joy. There’s something magical about teaching your kids. I will never say never either because life is a wild, unpredictable ride, but I think God always shows up for this ministry we’re doing for our family.
I actually prefer watching videos where the ones who helped create the mess are involved in cleaning. I realize sometimes it is easier to do it yourself but training kids will pay off for your future you.
I appreciate your honesty and that you show the reality of your home and your challenges. I started laughing at the end of the video when you said I promise that I did not just clutter shift that downstairs to where I have to deal with it tomorrow and then you showed the clip of you in front of the stuff.
It looks awesome and so refreshing! I struggle with ADHD and this room would have completely overwhelmed me! You are lucky, as am I to have a very supportive husband and family. What a great job!
You’re doing great! I am older but I keep telling my kids that if they were still in school they would be homeschooled. I don’t like what they are teaching
I think if I had little kids now, I'd also home school if it was financially possible for me to stay home. My children are grown. But, I work in an elementary school as a lunch lady, and your right, the stuff that goes on at the elementary level with the kids is crazy. They have to much influence from social media and from each other to complete with what they see on social media. It's really scary. I'm in Illinois. So, I'm guessing this is happening everywhere.
I had very little room for hoarding school materials. I homeschooled 7 kids over 32 years. Most of those years were in a small townhouse. I’d toss most consumables every spring. I highly recommend homeschooling!
🙋🏻♀️ Shannon, Glad you’re back. I was worried since you haven’t posted in awhile. Did Steven finish his paper in time? Yes sports activities are no joke. It take a lot time especially if you are one of the coaches (aka parent volunteer). Also wait until they are in sport traveling teams. Gone every weekend until the season ends. Happy to see your video.
Teen problems are not unique to just your area. Those problems are everywhere. Thanks to many things, children are now making life choices much earlier. I taught public school for 28 years and my husband is still a middle school counselor. Sheltering your children for a little long is always a good idea.
I was so glad to see your made another video. Give yourself grace about messes. Don’t worry, they’ll still be there when you’re ready to tackle them. At least at my house they are and we don’t have kids at home anymore. Also you made me laugh at the end of your video. Keep them coming when you can.
Looks good you did a good job and you are a good mommy i heard so many negative comments during the pandemic about having to home school kids it was so sad at how many parents don’t want their kids at home
Homeschooling momma!!! We’re strictly child led or unschoolers. It’s completely changed our lives. I struggle with anxiety, depression and chronic pain due to a nerve disease that limits me. I can barely get a good 4 hours out of each day, I couldn’t keep up if we tried to do any type of curriculum. Have you ever considered unschooling? Even if it’s just during the rough times.
I’m bi-polar too and I wanted to let you know I have the same struggles as far as depression go. I really struggle trying to do things I really need to do like dishes and trying to organize and purge. I’m slowly coming around to it. I just wanted to let you know that your are FAR from alone. God Bless 😊
We also plan to homeschool eventually with emphasis on a classical education (grammar, logic, rhetoric). My little guy is a week away from being 1 and has entered the tantrum stage. I knew it was coming but these past few days have been ROUGH. Prayers appreciated as I learn how to navigate this newest stage of motherhood. Love your videos always!
Lord, I lift Carrie up for you as she enters a challenging season with her son. I ask that you give her patience and strength and guide her as she navigates through this. Help her to rely and trust in You, and remind her that seasons don't last forever. I ask that you encourage her heart and help her to not feel anxious or discouraged. Give her the peace that can only come from You. And it's in Jesus's name I pray. Amen. ❤❤❤
My heart goes out to you. The toddler stage has probably been the hardest stage for me with all three. Especially my boy. Hang in there momma and be gentle with yourself ❤️
@@carrieprivette3032 You're so welcome! While I myself don't have children, I've been in childcare for years and years with all different ages, and the toddler years were always the hardest for me. They are trying to find their independence and trying to communicate and their inability to do those things are just so frustrating for them. I remember trying to put myself in their shoes and think about how I feel when people try to tell me what to do or how cranky I can get when I'm hungry/tired. And I'm an adult lol! I always feel like that helped me find more patience even when it was so hard because they are still learning how to regulate their emotions. I believe in you, and I will continue praying for you ❤❤❤
I was wondering where ya were - happy to see your pretty face again! Yeah, kids activities 😳🤪...last year our kids over-indulged and we were always gone, so we tried to rein it in this year, lol. Great job on the homeschool room, looks awesome and inviting! And thanks so much for the laugh at the end - you always brighten my day! Hope your day is fabulous!
Great job Shannon. Would you try moving your mustard chair and the book storage to the space you move the desks from? Not sure if it would work with the space but it would make a little reading book nook for you. ❤

You’re a great mom Shannon - you’ve made the right decision to homeschool them for now and also recognising that it might change in the future. I respect you for that. And what a beautiful space you’ve opened up - well done!
So glad your back!!! I look forward to your videos so much. Thank you !!! You got me motivated today, and I clutter shifted the other week , because we had a unexpected visitor 😢. I was so upset because I have been working so hard not too. But I know I will soon get it to it 😊❤️💕😘thank you again!!!

To start with…I look so forward to your videos. You’re just so honest about your life. Great to see the room all decluttered and looking great. I agreed with another Leann, don’t feel guilty about having you family help you. It teaches them about responsibility and helps to respect the things they have. Yayy your back! I love your videos and wait for them. You are an inspiration and I've really tried taking on your one hour better approach and and pacing myself more and valuing rest. As suffer from mental and physical ailments which makes it so hard to keep house tidy constant piles everywhere and no day is the same pain wise so bwry hard to keep motivated or so anything sometimes. So love watching yours keep on doing you ! Xx
I've been homeschooling for about 10 years now and we had about 20 times as much stuff as you guys! I just decluttered and gave away a lot but this is really inspiring me to let go of more. I feel like sometimes that aspirational homeschool stuff can almost be "guilty" clutter, like it just makes me feel bad that we haven't used it. Also I just started using TGATB with one of my kids last year and it's so nice, in part because the books are really minimal. I love that there aren't all these separate teacher guides to deal with. I know it's not the focus of your channel but if you ever do more homeschooling content I would watch the snozz out of it. I really appreciate your honest style!

Downsizing is a great idea. Unless you have ten kids, my opinion is people don’t need a big house, plus all expenses will be cheaper.

❤ I love this video. Thank you.
Awe I wasn’t aware that you live in SC! I’m near Charleston!
We lived in the GSP area for 5 years. It’s actually where both girls were born
I love watching your video's. 🌹🌹
To start with…I look so forward to your videos. You’re just so honest about your life. Great to see the room all decluttered and looking great. I agreed with another Leann, don’t feel guilty about having you family help you. It teaches them about responsibility and helps to respect the things they have. Please take care of yourself and can’t wait for another video. Oh, LOVE your husbands KC shirt! ❤️
Wow, the room looks great. Great work.
You always do such a great job. Love your channel and content, it is real and relatable. Be blessed!
Thank you so much!

You are not the only one with a messy room like that. Mine are much worse. My three kids are tornadoes. It's so hard to keep up with it.
They really are!
I didn’t know you had lived in SC. That’s where we lived when we were in the US. ❤️
Yep! We lived in the GSP area for 5 years. The girls were born there 😘
Yayy your back! Xx
❤️❤️❤️
Great, great job!!!
Shannon you did a great job on this room!
Great job with your kids.
Look at the amazing work you've done! Keep going!
You are such a wonderful mom. Love that you are taking care of yourself, too. Great declutter 🎃
So satisfying!
Nice to see you again... amazing work on the room 🎉❤
