Rawang Bypass | Highest Highway In Malaysia | Cruising Through Giant Broccoli

The Rawang Bypass is a 9-km divided highway that runs from Templer Park to Serendah. The Rawang Bypass is the highest pillar at the height of 58.2 m, making it as the highest roadway in Malaysia. Approved under the 9th Malaysia Plan, the 18km long Rawang Bypass was introduced to alleviate traffic congestion in Rawang town.
Previously, travelling time from Serendah to Selayang via the Kuala Lumpur-Ipoh Road may take up to 2 hours due to severe congestion in Rawang town centre. The Rawang Bypass helps to reduce the travelling time to only 30 minutes.
The environment and experience are unique with a scenic forest drive. The 2.7 km long elevated section almost level with the tree tops of the surrounding forest reserve of Taman Warisan. Driving at that elevation evinces a feeling of being among the clouds surrounded by the nearly extinct Giam Kanching trees (Hopea Subalata) found only in this part of the world. From aerial view, it look like giant broccoli span across the hill. Beautiful scenic view.

That giant broccoli was reason why there have a high bypass due to protect the tree..because this giant brocolli tree name is giam kanching by scientific name hopia subalata is the one and only species that to be found at that area sungai buloh selangor and not found any way else and been recognize by unesco to be the only site of the world.. it's only few km from kuala lumpur and first time i see it amazing like I'm in somewhere else because it so unik..tq..

Love the footage. But, you may need to change the title of this video now because Bukit Kukus highway in Penang became the highest highway since January this year. It's about 59m. Just about 0.8m more than the Rawang Bypass. 😅
