This is the single greatest show about pedals ever. Thanks for being the best, JHS.
You're not wrong.
agree
A lot more value for the time spent on UA-cam compared to the pedal show . I like both , but I prefer this a lot more.
Eh, you make a fair point but pedals and effects holds the crown IMO.
Schwing!
Wayne & Garth are back!
Party on!
Lol I know this is very late but this comment is brilliant!
But as for the shopkeeper and his son, that's a different story all together.
I can understand your obsession with Rainger FX! Like no other, yet he gladly tells what circuits inspired his creations.
Nicely done documentary!
I was actually in the shop (think it was Andy's?) looking at guitars I couldn't afford when David came in with his first Dr Freakenstein prototypes looking to sell them, I thought it was absolutely fantastic and so different to anything else available then. I should have bought one on the spot but was always skint in those days! Great to see the success he's having.
That's awesome!
One of the best things about your show is the way you pay homage to other pedals and pedal designers. This was wonderful stuff, Josh. Thanks and keep it coming!
Thanks for another great vlog, Josh. Always informative, thought provoking, amusing and entertaining. What I particularly like is how positive, enthusiastic and supportive you are about other pedal builders, who are 'competitors' too. Top stuff!
David seems like such a great guy. I bought the his Drone Delay pedal. I can't wait to get it and I'm so happy to support his wonderful products. Same for JHS. I love Josh. He's such a great guy. Josh has great values and I hope to God he remains humble. May the Lord bless you all at JHS and Rainger FX. You all take great care of yourselves. Happy Holidays. Peace and love, folks.
One of my friends just started working there I'm so happy for him!!!
David is incredibly inspirational. Thank you Josh, for introducing him to us!
There is a powerful message in that video; respect your local libraries! 😉
So many times, when pedal builders start their story, there’s this line at the beginning “I went to the library, got me some books...”.
Great video Josh, cheers m8!
Support local 👍👍👍
This was a fantastic and intimate pass into Rainger FX. To have the ability to adhere the modulation pad right to your guitar and wob and throb and bleep opens up the possibilities to mad creativity. I also enjoyed the change-up with this episode’s format. Thanks JHS
At this point this is the only show I even look forward to.
Really excellent vid JHS - (stands and claps). I can't believe your vids (which I completely fluke started watching) are now something I wait for every week. They just keep getting better.
I build pedals also. And so far in my journey I share the same parallels, like having a job that pays me for a lot of down time. Hopefully everything works out, as I have some really cool circuits I would like to share with the world.
I really like this episode.
sprayscience how did you get started? I find diy pedals absolutely fascinating and would love to do some very simple stuff to see if I could wrap my head around it.
A great way to start is getting a kit. That's how I became addicted to it. Start with a simple build like a fuzz or a Big Muff like I did. If you like what you did then you can order lots of parts and start building clones or modifying existing circuits. Look for vero board layouts of existing circuits on the net. You will find ways to improve circuits and make them sound even better than the what the manufacturers offer you. Learn the electronics language, learn to read schematics. If you get addicted to it and it becomes crazy fun then you will learn quick. But I do warn you that it will take up a lot of your time. You will learn what it takes to build a pedal and appreciate the labor and time to build it. I hope this helps a little.@@HiGlowie
'the future of the past' - exactly why I love the Jazzmaster.
brilliant show - just enjoyed spending time with you both thanks!
cool in depth journalism here. the pedal world needs you, josh!
Amazing interview! So good.
I’ve never heard a pedal sound better than Freakenstein in that video. Literally incredible
The 2 of you couldn't be more unlike, but so totally cool together!! Awesome video.
Very cool. I LOVE the Reverb X. Best pedal version gated verb out there by far.
We need more guys like these!!!
Your videos convey your love for the subject matter so well that I can’t help but feel it myself by the end. Every video has this “looking at old photo albums with family” vibe that, frankly, kinda just makes me happy to be alive and able to make music...and that other people share the feeling and the excitement for it. I’m glad you introduced me to Mr. Rainger because now I can add him to my list of “greats”.
Superb interview Josh, I really enjoyed that. What an interesting chap as well, he makes me proud to be be British :)
David Rainger is one of the nicest, most patient, and most stoked pedal guys I've ever met. His pedals are inspiring to use and brilliantly made. Everyone should own one of his pedals. To me he's on the same level as Zachary Vex with his inventiveness.
David is brilliant person and his work is outstanding, thank you Josh for this video...keep on!
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? 🤯 when he turned the knob on the freakenbender i got friggin' goosebumps! Whaaaaat?!
I used his reverb on a session once and it was amazing! Never got the name of the company but always loved the pedal and now I know!
Josh - really dig this "pedal journalism"! Helps to understand the personality and the inspiration behind the technology. Good stuff.
Excellent film and now I know much more about Rainger FX.
Josh,as a pedal builder yourself.I think you should do more vids like this .To get into the mind set of other builders.Even maybe doing one of yourself.Fantastic!
So cool to put a face to these amazing pedals. Thank you so much for this Josh. Truly inspiring.
Excellent video, sir. Definitely turned me on to someone I am not very familiar with but can’t wait to try some of his stuff.
The Igor on the Tone Bender reminds me of the Mutronics Mutator used by Greenwood in Paraoind Android solo.
Thanks for posting this. David looks like a genuinely GREAT guy. I've always thought about getting a ECHO-X, after watching this I'm gonna buy it for sure.
Josh, this was an amazing episode. You have cracked the code on how to do it right. I tip my hat to you.
Honored to be a part of the Rainger FX family. This is a phenomenal doc!
YES! I’m planning on getting the bleep for a recording session and now I’m even more stoked! I love his playing too. I’d be interested to hear some songs...
“Best short form documentary” contender at next years Oscars
This was a blast to watch!
Josh has become my personal form of psychotherapy. He has a refreshing ala genius calming effect, in stark contrast to the vast majority of equipment knowitalls that do nothing but activate an exasperate my equipment/pedal/indecisiveness OCD
His Drone Rainger is other worldly! It’s great to see Josh’s genuine fascination with another pedal builders designs.
That was so cool! Love this channel!
Bad ass documentary. Nice job
I've been wanting a lot of his pedals for a long time. I am glad you did this docu vídeo. It's really good, and I love learning more about the people that make all these amazing pedals we love. Thanks.
Great episode, guys!
Great episode. Well done.
I‘d love to see a pedal that flips over from JHS to Rainger on the drive knob.
um. YES.
These guys could whip one up in an afternoon.
So cool. Thank you for this show and putting Other builders in the spotlight. This just makes my picture of you as a cool person even better.
I really enjoy your topics and passion for effects...learned alot from you! Was passing thru Ft. Wayne earlier this week, stopped at Sweetwater and ended up with some new used gear. While checking out all the pedals I mentioned your name and the tech said you were just there! Searching...etc...and it blew me away...the world we live in today...
I can’t believe there are 6 people that went to the effort of not liking this. This was great.
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Haters gonna hate... lol.
One was my girlfriend - by mistake....
great interview ...... loved it.
Just prior to watching this video I had been watching a Netflix doco on “The Creative Brain”. David and yourself epitomise the simple concepts of creativity perfectly, push the boundaries, try something new and don’t be afraid to fail. Thanks to the both of you, very inspiring.
Another great video, about a really interesting fella I didn't know anything about. After a very long, difficult week at work this has really helped me unwind. Thanks Josh, and all the chaps at JHS. Please keep up the fantastic work, it makes a real difference.
very cool that you did this
Got one of his Air Traffic Controller pedals a few years back. Very unique sounding! And looking!
Another totally awesome video Josh!
Oh wow. I loved this! What a fascinating guy.
That's amazing ! Thanks for caring and sharing !
I absolutely love your channel. Thank you for inspiring me to pursue electronics/pedals/amps. If it weren't for people like you, I'd probably have settled for making bombs for Northrup Grumman.
Because you've shown me that there's a market for my skills and talents, I'm pursuing them.
Excellent content. Thanks for such a great video. Very inspiring.
This was an awesome episode. I like em all, but this was really interesting above and beyond.
Such a sympathetic man... love this!
Amazing sounds!
Great show. . .wow! Thanks for sharing!
I have a drone rainger pre ordered... talk about unique! David Rainger is the man!!
Wonderful interview
Mr. Rainger seems a real nice and interesting guy!
Thank you so much for this mini doc! Ive wanted to know more about Ranger FX for a while now. Youre the best Josh. I just need to buy all your pedals
The Gernsback Continuum by William Gibson is about "The future of the past." I loved the line, "The monster comes alive."
You can tell he's so happy at 3:57
Great episode, fellas. One of your best. I love the 8 guys who thought otherwise. They should form a jam band.
Amazing story. Just amazing
Well that was bleepin' awesome... Cheers!
When did my Auntie Margaret starting making pedals? In all seriousness, great episode. Great to change it up and a clearly very genuinely affectionate look at another highly creative designer. Loved. It.
Lol!
Really great content!.
Sooo who runs your business while you're off making the best UA-cam content out right now?
This is technically advertising
Mishak Heyman true, but its entertaining ads
It’s hard for me to see this video as advertising. I don’t think Rainger paid him to tell the story. There was zero talk of his own pedals (if I recall correctly). I can concede that on some level this is advertising, but if I’m classifying UA-cam content this wouldn’t end up in the “ad” pile. Don’t be a hater.
@@mmmichelin1 It seems to me like this is a tide raises all boats to approach to advertising.
If you hire the right people, the boss can disappear for a while and nothing bad happens.
You should make a video like this with Brian Wampler!
Great suggestion. Heart and Tech set to maximum.
Well done, Josh. This was really great. I bought a Bleep after your "favorite pedals" of 2018. It's a monster - but in a really fun way. The Chop Fuzz is next on my list.
I'm so into that reverb and the gain! Love these interesting pedals! Super cool guy making them too! Thanx Josh for the heads up. I've only seen these from Sonic coast effects but did not know what they could do!
Awesome video !
Great video Josh
Thanks Josh, Youre inspiring other people to buy Rainger FX via JHS. (but really thanks, i love bonsai drive)
Thanks for the videos as always! He definitely inspired me to think outside the box (stompbox) 😄
Luv this guys passion and obsession!
Me too. It's infectious!
Great vid.
With perfect terminology Josh said, “Yeah, it, shu... commonality of the bleep...!” 😊
Well I got a gift on valentines, thanks Josh, this was fantastic.
Please make an art/ design book on pedals, they are all worth looking at.
That PRS man! Oh god! 😱
You're not not kidding man - it's top!
This was great.
Superb!
God, this guy is awesome.
I love that FX pedal.
Jimi would’ve loved your pedals.
whait this episode for sooo long
Dave's designs are genius.
I love this. Right off the edge of the earth!
Reverb X, Freakenstein and Drone Ranger are cool.
Dana Carvey brought back Garth just to make an awesome pedal company? That's amazing.
