    Accounting and finance which has a Higher demand and which is likely to be automated in the future?

    • @kailakaila
      @kailakaila  3 роки тому +2

      ua-cam.com/video/jPmG2Z-X_DI/v-deo.html I recommend checking out this video regarding automation. Higher overall demand with most opportunities? - accounting, specifically skilled CPAs. High finance is super competitive, with a limited number of opportunities (but they pay very well.) Fintech is booming, and if you have financial knowledge and some tech skills, you will be in demand.

    An actuary may have to look far into the future, like 30 years.
    A financial analyst would rarely ever be expected to forecast more than 7 years into the furture.
    They both manage risk, but FAs look at business risk/financial risk over the next few years.
    I was told acturial exams are very hard, like rokect science hard.
    Actuarial Science, though technically a social science, is grouped under STEM with mathematics and statistics and NOT along with Finance, Accounting, Management and Economics.

    • @kailakaila

      Some great points!
      And yes the actuarial exams are very hard. Someone who is interested in going down that path has to be very motivated to put the work in.

    Tnx Kaila. Although finance doesn't need to take exams (like Actuary does) but most of the jobs need CFA,don't they?!!

    • @kailakaila
      @kailakaila  3 роки тому

      No, most don’t need the CFA. CFA is beneficial to have in equity research, portfolio management, risk management, and a few other areas.

    What happens when you fail a class in the universities of the United States? Do they let you take it again? if yes, how many opportunities they give you??,,, I really hope you answer to this question 🙏🙏🙏

      Yes you can retake classes. I think the max is 3 retakes? But check with individual universities regarding their policies. You will need approval to retake a class.

      I personally think it’s being a little blown out of proportion by the media/on social media. Hedge funds, IBs, PE Firms, VCs, they all make terrible decisions and investments from time to time. This situation just turned out to be a perfect storm for that hedge fund. All the people that work there are human, one friend of mine who has been trading for 20 years full time lost close to a million during all of this. Proud of everyone that made money on GameStop, I made money on AMC 😄

      Corporate financial analyst, working in commercial finance (personal banker, manager of a bank, etc), credit analyst, Mortgage processor, Mortgage loan originator (to make good money in this you are going to have put in more time, if you just want to coast then 40ish hours is ok) Underwriter, claims adjuster.

    hi Kaila, my girlfriend graduated in Actuarial Science and is currently having a difficult time finding employment. Are companies looking at experience over the actuary certifications? I also think living in NYC makes it very competitive and difficult for employment...

    • @kailakaila
      @kailakaila  2 роки тому

      I would say it’s on a case by case, company by company scenario. Experience is always sought after, so once she gets that first job and stays there for a year or two, she will be a sought out by recruiters, other companies, etc. NYC is competitive, if you are open to other markets, Chicago, Orlando, and Charlotte NC are where my actuary friends live/work.

    Would you recommend a 1) Banking or Corporate Finance Concentration, 2) a Financial Planning Concentration, or 3) General Finance?

    • @kailakaila
      @kailakaila  3 роки тому

      Where do you see yourself in the future? Where do your interest(s) lie? Are you willing to move for industry specific jobs?
      1 or 3 for a corporate career, 2 for a financial advising or financial planning career (which I don't necessarily recommend unless you feel some sort of "calling" for it, watch my financial advisor related videos.) 2 would probably give you more relevant knowledge on a personal level, which could be helpful for yourself/friends/family.
      Also your concentration doesn't hold tons of weight in interviews (at least in the US). As long as you have a relevant major, do the necessary prep for the interviews, and hit all the major criteria you will do well.

      The actual math in Finance is simple.
      But you DO need to have a mathematical mind to do finance even though you won't been doing advanced math in terms of a math syllabus.
      There is no need for calculus, or trigs, or geometry or anything like that, but you do have to be left brain oriented. (The ability to follow a systemic procedure and be logical in your approach as well deduce mathematics outcomes that most people can't see.)
      But high school math is good enough skills.

    • @paul5324
      @paul5324 2 роки тому

      Well there’s many layers in finance. There’s financial mathematics/financial engineering which is a discipline in industry usually employed by quants. The basis of the discipline is to use stochastic models and programming to come up with models that basically make the firm more money. An abundant amount of mathematics is used: think multi variable calculus, linear algebra, probability theory, stochastic calculus, even real analysis. And they usually program in SAS and C/C++

      Digital marketing or a financial analyst you mean? Financial analyst would do strategic planning, assist in budgeting, look at the forecasting cycle in oder to provide suggestions on how to make better business decisions. How much one would help your business depends on the actual business, how big it was currently. You don’t need a financial analyst from the very beginning, day 1 type of stuff. Focus on sales first and having a good product. Better to have an accountant from day 1.
