So... I came back and was getting so many of these the game was unplayable... Then I remembered all the junk you gotta do, disabled ipx6, switched the app in windows 7 compatibility mode, switched to windows full screen mode, excluded d3 in all my antivirus junk, rebooted my modem, flushed dns, then reassigned IP... and its way better, but still get them once an hour or ever other hour... as opposed to every 10 min... the only thing I haven't changed and can't is I'm running on wifi instead of a hard line connection... The game has run up to 6 hours without a disconnect, but its still happening albeit much less frequently... super frustrating. And coincidentally, it usually happens when I'm ahead pushing a rift... never happens on a bad one lol

I have my drives updated thanks to Geforce Experience but still It's not enough. What can we do ?

For sometime I'm getting this error aswell. I'm using a wifi and not the cable internet. At first the game worked perfectly fine, but a few months later started giving me the same error. The weird thing is when I connect to a mobile internet it works just fine, but as soon as I turn back on to wifi I get "1016" :(
Recently changed my Internet provider with improved speeds and cable connection. Now all works very good. Measured ping is 53-75 and there is no lagg nor a single error 1016.
I figured out that this happens from Act 3 and up. Act 1 and 2 work fine but when you port to act 3 4 or 5, the loading screen takes longer, sometimes you get DC'd right away and sometimes you can get into the game. Also if you log in to act 3-5 then port to 1-2 the long loading screen is still there but when you get there, everything runs fine. I just can't believe the devs refuse to do anything about this. The problem is not our computers, ITS THEIRS!!!!! (EU server)
Are you playing on the European servers? I got this issue as well, when I changed my region to Americas, no more issues. Problem is, all my characters are on the European servers so I have to start over.
Don't throw anything, I just wanted to buy the game. But I keep getting this error while playing the first free act. Maybe 5-6 times. It's annoying. Why would I spend money on something that does not work properly.

Since, end of season, 21 / PTR 22. "reformatted" drives / pc, reinstalled game(s) from Blizzard. FYI.. BLIZZARD, called ME! I have posted and discussed all my attempts on the forum. NO fix as of yet. Kudos to Blizzard for actually reading and calling me, w/o being asked! SUCKS! Spectrum spent an hour with me to insure THEY weren't the issue. My wife uses same wifi/ internet.. NEVER ONCE, has DC'd @ the same time, but has NOW experienced same issue(s). ERROR CODE 1016

Done all the fixits and i've even checked my DNS and what not, all the fixes are not working, cuz the problem is at blizzards end.

Yes I,m playing on EU servers. Problem still ocure but it,s something less frequent. Same, on Americas no more issues but then I have high ping.
