"realistically" well guess what buddy, we live in real life which is as real as it gets. And in our real lives the Panthers are up 3-1. You can't just assume one team was lucky. There were just as many unlucky things to happen to Florida that you only didn't notice because they actually won. Florida could have scored much more in game 3 and oilers scored because of luck, ex elbow goal. 3-1 fla is as realistic as it gets
Game 4 revealed what the Panthers were holding back in the first 3 games. It's not like the Oilers haven't shown up, Florida has just been playing perfect hockey. Both the Canucks and Stars series ended with an Oilers streak, so it shows that it's exhausting to shut down McDavid/Draisatl for 7 games straight.
@@CharmingCJ the only game Florida outplayed Edmonton was game 2. If Edmonton figured out Bob like they started to at the end of 3 in game 1 and more of 3, my statement stands. Edmonton completely shot themselves in the foot both game 1 and definitely game 3. I said before the series that Edmonton's Big 3 would have to go Super Saiyan to win the series, and McDavid woke up in G4. Hyman's the key for me. If he shows up in G5 it goes back to Canada
That win by Oilers was my cup final. I treated it like winning the cup (Also delusional). LOL. Panthers will take it eventually, but man that was a heck of a game. Now I can die happy. 😅
You're happy that your team has made it all the way to the SCF just to (potentially) be bounced in 5? The McDrai era won't last forever, and there's no guarantee they make it this far again before it ends. I get being proud of the team sure, but happy is a stretch when they've likely squandered their best chance of a cup for the rest of the McDavid era
Anyone actually paying attention and looking at the numbers wouldn't have been shocked by this game. It was the Bob show. The Oilers controlled the play in games 1 3 4.
I HATE Bennett but to call him an actor on that is tough. People act like they have never got a Charlie horse or dead leg. It happens and I imagine is probably the case here. He looked like he was less in pain more like "oh shit I cant feel my toes". lol
@@Littlefieldpaints Are you delusional? He was crawling to the bench by PUSHING OFF USING THE LEG THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY INJURED! He's a disgrace to the game
I totally expected this. Ok maybe not 8 -1, more like 4-1, but a blowout of some sort anyway. Florida was three times lucky, but it take more than luck to win a Stanley. When the hockey gods are fair minded, Edmonton will win everytime.
Best analogy ever! In this case Bobrovsky was looking like Drago. Always the building block to hope, inspiration, and willingness to battle with confidence.
One key and interesting difference between hockey and basketball is the idea of "underlying numbers." Actual hockey outcomes are based on the low-frequency events, goals, which are heavily influenced by goaltending and luck. Basketball scores tend to be a much closer reflection to things that the teams, as a whole, can control. Because of this, "dominance" in hockey can often be measured in different ways. Game 3 was close, but the Oilers still had the edge in terms of controlling the game, getting dangerous shots, and preventing dangerous shots. Games 1 and 4, on the other hand, were lopsided in favour of Edmonton. To predict game 5, you should probably compare the teams using larger datasets (i.e. the entire season). Based on that, and home ice, Florida will most likely win the cup in 5. But if you look strictly at the matchup this series, Edmonton has had the edge. You could predict Edmonton taking it to 6 games...but it depends on whether or not you think the Panthers will have the massive goaltending advantage like they did in the first 3 games. If the goaltending is somewhat close, you could argue that we're most likely to see the series extended.
Acting to sell penalties is an attribute of a player. It’s good to have those kind of attributes, anything to help the team win. Because it’s all about winning, don’t matter how. Welcome to life in this society.
If the Oilers come back to win this series I think there would be a bit of poetic justice(not sure that is the right word). Given how they started the season, and here they are, then to start this final and win. Wow that would be funny
The panthers and oilers now both have 12 goals on the series. Oilers played the same way game one, only difference was pucks not going in. Let’s say they replicate this play that they been doing for half the series, including a game in Florida. If they win Tuesday, you almost expect them to win at home. It’s a reach but it’s not impossible
Should be a much different game back in Florida . Hard to believe Edmonton is a sports town only 3 , 500 fans attended the Edmonton Elks game on Friday night . Stadium holds 60,000 ? No dice here in Edmonton . Why ?
Special Teams win championships. Oilers have the best special teams in the playoffs. Oilers in 7 but didn't think they would do it the hard way like this.
From a strictly statistical standpoint the fact they were 3-0 means nothing anymore. It is now a 3-1 comeback with the momentum on their side. I still don’t see it happening but something to point out.
In the first round game 4, the Lightning avoided a sweep with a 6-1 victory over Panthers but then lost (badly) in game 5. Unfortunately the same thing will probably happen to the Oil.
I haven't checked, and this has probly already been mentioned, but this has to be the longest geographic distance between cities in a pro playoff series. They're almost diagonally at opposite ends of North America.
Winning the next game is almost a must win for Florida if Edmonton can bring them back to Alberta I don’t see them dropping another home game. I feel this either ends tomorrow or goes to 7
Just seeing an offense actually be able to play hockey against the Panthers was such a relief. I'm not expecting a reverse sweep here or anything but my level of boredom watching the Panthers do their thing these past two rounds has been unbearable and this was a nice break from it.
And rude obnoxious delusional Oiler fans like yourself don't deserve to see your team get another win for the rest of this Finals. Enjoy the one blowout you will see from them before they lose the Cup. F off.
I’m a stats fan too. As Don Cherry always said, game 2 and game 5 are the most important in any 7 game series. Panthers won game 2 and are in a position to win the cup at home. But, what if the Oilers win game 5? I can then easily see a whopper of a game 7 happen! The only thing that is certain is that the hockey gods are unpredictable.
Love the stats too. I can envision a game 5 win since they haven't had a road win yet. My issue is I can see at best, for the time being, Panthers in 7. Heartbreaking 2-1 loss as usual. It's the way the sports gods work. When you rise but just too little too late. Thoughts?
@@MontrealJunior No doubt the Oilers will have the best effort they can give in game 5. But my gut says it would be a game 7 loss for the Oilers. If only Barkov could have touched the Eastern Conference trophy again, then I might have something to appease the hockey gods. The rest is up in the air.
@@MontrealJunior well now, I couldn’t be happier with how this series is progressing. My intuition, nothing more, still tells me there is a game 6 win for the Oilers but a difficult but fun game 7. Thoughts?
@fredrickolsen838 Yes, absolutely, although with the way the Panthers finished game 5, there will be a little more pressure than expected on the Oilers now at home in front of their crowd, wanting it so bad. Playing road villains while still having a home game in your pocket is still an advantage. It will come down to the same formula, special teams, winning the battles, limit giveaways, big saves, and gritty contributions from the role players. As you can see, it's a whole team effort. There's no letting up, although it was kind of nice to sit on a 3 goal lead for the short time it lasted. It would be amazing if they can lead wire to wire in game 6. Then the unthinkable would suddenly be so within reach. Thoughts?
@@MontrealJunior I don’t think the Panthers could have finished game 5 any other way. If they got skunked two games in a row, and this time at home, game 6 would be an even tougher hill to climb. They had no choice but to give it their all after 3-0, even if they thought it was slim odds. The fact remains that the Oilers held them off, although it didn’t always look pretty at times. Both teams have had plenty enough games against each other now to figure each other out. I think the Oilers have stood better to learn from those games, maybe a bit slower, but it’s showing. I stand by my intuition, Oilers game 6 win.
Teams are only remembered for hoisting the cup. No one will remember the miracle of game 4 of 1994 Stanley cup, or game 5 of 2003 Stanley cup. Do you? Because I don’t.
I feel like the week off was not good for Edmonton coming into the series. When the Dallas series ended, they were firing on all cylinders. But the week off, reduced the adrenaline and focus Edmonton's top players need to be competitive. They don't have the depth, and they can't rely on a cool performance from their top defensemen / goalie to win them games. Not sure they can win 4 in a row, but I think they have a reasonable chance of evening the series.
God damn I want them to make this a series. This was my finals pick at the beginning of the year and I've always had the Cats winning but I'll gladly take the L on that one.
No one expected Oilers to get swept at home (or expect them to go down 3-0 lol) Panthers came out lackluster when Oilers were fighting for survival. Unfortunately the Oilers decided to show up to the dance a little late - Good luck next year.
For me, the big thing is that bobrobsky is starting to get beat. It started in game 3 where he let 3 in, and continued in game 4 when he let 5 in. They're finding ways to make it past him and causing goaltending to be less of a factor
Honestly as a panthers fan I kinda did see it coming. I thought we'd either sweep in game 4 but it would be low scoring like 2-1 or we'd get absolutely dominated...turned out to be the 2nd version.
Oilers woke up and shift it up a couple gears on the speed and started going high and pick corners on Bobo. If they play like that it will be a monumental comeback. Florida and Bobrovski literally cant keep up with the speed and skill of the Oilers...I guess they can try gooning it out but that wont stop the Oilers..they've seen that before, doesn't work.
Oilers are my west coast team. Panther are my east coast. This has been some damn good hockey to watch! Still hoping the oilers bring it home. But im not gonna be mad if the panther win there first cup.
No one ever think they just were wanting to win the cup at home and that was so mcdinggleberry could beat Gretzky's record? Then bobrosvsky got pulled to get extra rest?
anything can happen. we players anyways go from game to game and we count the wins, so no time travel to the future or history readings when the last time a reverse sweep happened. for the sake of hockey i want game seven
I dont wanna get my hopes up just for them to get squashed, but I really hope Edmonton can bring it to 7. Considering how its been I dont see it as very likely, but I would go f crazy if the brought it back and won
I just keep thinking from or for a Panthers perspective: HOW ARE YOU GOING TO CALL YOURSELF CHAMPS after getting just absolutely bullied in a closer game. Boys still got a ways to go but at the game I was like, "This feels like a regular season game with all this scoring". OIL in 7
At the end of the video, you said, "one bad performance notwithstanding ..." To be fair, Panthers had 2 bad performances this round. Bob stole game 1 despite the Panthers being vastly outplayed which is the difference at this point. That performance by Bob is the only reason this isn't a 2-2 series instead of 3-1. Still, and as usual, great video.
Rd.1 Gm4 Tampa 6-1. Rd.2 Gm1 Boston 5-1. Rd.3 NY 5-4 OT. It's happened once a round to Florida. Given all the frustration Edmonton had in the first 3 games, I'm surprised the score wasn't higher. I turned off the game and conceded it to Edmonton after the first goal. I did check in later to see if my instincts were correct. 5-1 at that point. See you Tuesday.
Panthers simply didn't show up. First goal Montour literally took out Bob with his slide. 2nd was Reinhart forgetting to actually defend the man in front of the net... didn't even try to lift a stick or gain position. 3rd was Ekblad just ignoring Draisaitl standing beside him at the blue line. Drai gets the pass and walks in to setup a goal. Just horrible defense by Florida. They looked like they forgot how to play. I called the blowout after that 3rd goal.
They most certainly did show up. Thar Gane could easily have been 5-1 the other way, for the cats. The had 30+ shots on Skinner ffs... what the hell did you watch?
@dannik9932 read my post again. I played 20 years, I coached and reffed. Florida had 33 shots. Skinner made at least 5 stupendous saves of those 33 shots.

Eh, he might be, but getting hit in the knee can be similar to hitting your elbow - it can make your whole limb go numb for a few seconds.
Due to this game skinner now has a lower gaa than bob😂😂😂😂
Realistically the Oil should be up 3-1 if they got any luck in finding the net in games 1 & 3.
They’ve literally just been getting out goalied. If bob doesn’t play the best hockey we’ve ever seen they win every game besides 3.
@@bogeyt15games55 yup. If they had figured out in the first 2 games what they figured out at the end of 3; this might be a very different series.
It wasn’t Florida domination and the majority of all hockey pundits and those that do this kind of thing would agree.
Holloway’s dive on his second goal was straight Bobby Orr haha
Oilers scored more goal that night than Marner scored points in the entire series
May the Oilers keep things this interesting until game 7, then win 18-1.
I said before the series that Edmonton's Big 3 would have to go Super Saiyan to win the series, and McDavid woke up in G4. Hyman's the key for me. If he shows up in G5 it goes back to Canada
bro switching up now 😂
😂😂
As he was doubting us very badly 💀
But bob is part of the team. So wouldn’t that mean FL controlled those games?
Bennett is such an actor
I HATE Bennett but to call him an actor on that is tough. People act like they have never got a Charlie horse or dead leg. It happens and I imagine is probably the case here. He looked like he was less in pain more like "oh shit I cant feel my toes". lol
@@Littlefieldpaints You're right on this play, 100%. But it's like the "Boy who cried Wolf"..... no one is going to believe him.
@@Littlefieldpaints Are you delusional? He was crawling to the bench by PUSHING OFF USING THE LEG THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY INJURED! He's a disgrace to the game
And Mcdacid and the German aren’t cry baby actors?! Stop
I totally expected this. Ok maybe not 8 -1, more like 4-1, but a blowout of some sort anyway. Florida was three times lucky, but it take more than luck to win a Stanley. When the hockey gods are fair minded, Edmonton will win everytime.
Was this game like when Rocky cut Drago? "You see? He's a man! Not a machine, a MAN!"
I sure expected it lol. I knew it wasn’t going to be a sweep.
Those panthers must have adamantium skeletons, cuz they sure heal quickly from what looks like crippling injuries
Very good acting..hahaha
Acting to sell penalties is an attribute of a player. It’s good to have those kind of attributes, anything to help the team win. Because it’s all about winning, don’t matter how. Welcome to life in this society.
just forced game 6 🤩
didn't expect nurse to score, but it's fantastic that he did. great for his self esteem and gets the fans to lay off him a little
If the Oilers come back to win this series I think there would be a bit of poetic justice(not sure that is the right word). Given how they started the season, and here they are, then to start this final and win. Wow that would be funny
Nice breather before winning the Cup :)))))
Had me thinking I missed a game last night with the timing of this video release.
The panthers and oilers now both have 12 goals on the series. Oilers played the same way game one, only difference was pucks not going in. Let’s say they replicate this play that they been doing for half the series, including a game in Florida. If they win Tuesday, you almost expect them to win at home. It’s a reach but it’s not impossible
this feels like that bit in the hobbit where bilbo realized smaug has a missing scale
Should be a much different game back in Florida . Hard to believe Edmonton is a sports town only 3 , 500 fans attended the Edmonton Elks game on Friday night . Stadium holds 60,000 ? No dice here in Edmonton . Why ?
It's almost like the Elks have been complete dogshit for like, 6 years
Lmao oilers fans and media acting like oilers are up 3-1 is hilarious
Special Teams win championships. Oilers have the best special teams in the playoffs. Oilers in 7 but didn't think they would do it the hard way like this.
From a strictly statistical standpoint the fact they were 3-0 means nothing anymore. It is now a 3-1 comeback with the momentum on their side. I still don’t see it happening but something to point out.
I think everything hinges on this next game. If Edmonton can somehow pull off a win in Florida all bets are off.
I think if oilers win game 5 we are going 7 for sure
FL want to win it in 7. They want to do it with swagger.
So impressed with Connor Brown. He's been a 200 ft menace all series and he's starting to get rewarded
In the first round game 4, the Lightning avoided a sweep with a 6-1 victory over Panthers but then lost (badly) in game 5. Unfortunately the same thing will probably happen to the Oil.
Blues pulled Binnington in their cup final. They still won
The way you guys played in game 4 I expect the same in game 5 bring it back home Boyz. Go Oilers Go.
I haven't checked, and this has probly already been mentioned, but this has to be the longest geographic distance between cities in a pro playoff series. They're almost diagonally at opposite ends of North America.
up to this point i was thinking this florida team may be one of the best teams in the last decade but tbh game 4 put that to bed. that was pathetic
The Nurse hit was far worse than the Foegle hit
If you look closely...
You'll see that almost every goal that Bob didn't stop was a wristshot.
THAT...my friends...is his Achilles' Heel.
Winning the next game is almost a must win for Florida if Edmonton can bring them back to Alberta I don’t see them dropping another home game. I feel this either ends tomorrow or goes to 7
The crazy thing about the improbable, is that nobody sees it coming. Congrats to McD for passing 99 in anything, in my mind "The Greatest One"
"Oilers are better team, they just took a big L for the first 3 games so they can figure out Bob" comments are so great.
Just seeing an offense actually be able to play hockey against the Panthers was such a relief. I'm not expecting a reverse sweep here or anything but my level of boredom watching the Panthers do their thing these past two rounds has been unbearable and this was a nice break from it.
As an Oilers fan, I have to have hope that their best is enough to rip open that disciplined, boring defensive style game the Panthers play.
It was very much expected tbh
I don’t want them to celebrate with their fans pls none of those fans deserve to see it
And rude obnoxious delusional Oiler fans like yourself don't deserve to see your team get another win for the rest of this Finals.
I stand by my intuition, Oilers game 6 win.
been waiting for your Oilers' video ! awesome once again
This is the best Oilers playoffs game Also, is the best 2023-2024 playoffs game too. I believed no one can denied it. Oilers make the history.
I'm crossing my fingers that the Oilers push it to six, for dignity's sake alone
Florida has the Oilers right where they want them! lol. Let’s go Cats! They just want to win the Cup at home.
God damn I want them to make this a series. This was my finals pick at the beginning of the year and I've always had the Cats winning but I'll gladly take the L on that one.
No one was expecting the oilers to win a game, thats true. Panthers win in 5.
What were the vegas odds on that scoreline.
8 goals is cool and all, but I feel like they probably blew their entire wad in one game. Panthers are taking the Cup tomorrow at home.
They're finding ways to make it past him and causing goaltending to be less of a factor
nba and nhl both reverse sweep😭😭 that would be some history
Oilers are going to take it in front of their home crowd eh?
gotta give the season ticket holders something to hold on to.
Fla had a clunker to start the Boston series. They'll be themselves next game.
McDavid was tied with Gretzky for like 3 mins!
Bennett should have gotten 2 for embellishment. Same as Mouthwash and Barkov in previous games!
I expected the Oilers to win game 4 and the Panthers to win game 5.
A bit convenient both teams that were down 3-0 just destroyed. I’m trying to keep faith being a Dallas fan.
Yeah, keep telling yourself that.
I expected the Oilers to bounce back at home. I didn't expect Nurse to score though
anything can happen. we players anyways go from game to game and we count the wins, so no time travel to the future or history readings when the last time a reverse sweep happened. for the sake of hockey i want game seven
I dont wanna get my hopes up just for them to get squashed, but I really hope Edmonton can bring it to 7. Considering how its been I dont see it as very likely, but I would go f crazy if the brought it back and won
The world is in need of a really good material for a hockey movie.
OIL in 7
I'm not shocked, there hasn't been a Final sweep since 1998 (Wings over Caps).
But does it matter?
I think most people expected the Oil to take one game in commanding fashion. And that's it.
I don't know anyone expected an 8-1 shitkicking though
Rd.1 Gm4 Tampa 6-1. Rd.2 Gm1 Boston 5-1. Rd.3 NY 5-4 OT. It's happened once a round to Florida. Given all the frustration Edmonton had in the first 3 games, I'm surprised the score wasn't higher. I turned off the game and conceded it to Edmonton after the first goal. I did check in later to see if my instincts were correct. 5-1 at that point. See you Tuesday.
That's a 5 and a game for Nurse every day of the week
The had 30+ shots on Skinner ffs... what the hell did you watch?
what is bro yapping about. just say edmonton was steamrolling lmao
@@GhostRaiter sog doesn't equal good play. Y'all either can't read or don't know hockey.
@dannik9932 read my post again. I played 20 years, I coached and reffed. Florida had 33 shots. Skinner made at least 5 stupendous saves of those 33 shots.
@@GhostRaiter so you can't read then. I never said Skinner didn't play well. I said Florida forgot how to play defence. I even gave examples. Florida had a few good looks, but mostly just threw garbage at the net. They didn't play well.
