Jorge Fonseca became double World World Champion in 2021 in Budapest and 2019 in the Budokan in Tokyo. He took bronze at the Tokyo2020 Games. He was born in Sao Tome and Principe (STP). He took the European U23 title in 2013. He won bronze at Grand Slams in Paris, Düsseldorf and Osaka and was in the finals of the Grand Prix in Zagreb and Agadir and collected 20 World Cup medals. Jorge won the Champions League with Sporting Clube Portugal Lisbon in 2018 and 2019. He started 2022 well with a victory at the Grand Prix of Portugal, World Cup in Prague and Grand Slam in Antalya.

Russian judoka Matvey Kanikovskiy became the Junior European Champion in 2021. In 2019 he took the gold at the Junior European Cup in St. Petersburg. In 2018 he won gold at the Cadet European Cup in Teplice and Bielsko Biala. He won the European Cup U21 in Coimbra in 2019. He captured the gold medal at the Junior European Cup in Berlin in 2019. He captured a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in 2021 in Olbia.
