  • Virgin's Bower (Clematis virginiana). A beautiful, fragrant, but aggressive native vine that covers many plants and shrubs along the Blue Ridge Parkway and elsewhere. Blooms in July/August; the fluffy seed heads persist until late fall. Transylvania County, NC.

    Great video to get a view of this native vine for pollinators before making the commitment to buy one for my yard. Enjoyed seeing all the different bees on the flowers and smiled at the shots of chewed leaves indicating healthy pollinator - caterpillar activity. Yay! I'll buy a vine locally and get it in the ground. Thanks for posting. Great help.

      I love it too, but remember you'll need lots of room for it - it covers (smothers) everything!
