Hi Jared, thanks for a great video. You got me excited showing the Create Opening from Window / Door Selection 😃... then it won't work in the INT version 😑. Working in the INT version for 24+years we sometimes miss cool things from other versions like this one. Just like you showed with the Window Favorites, we do the best we can with what we have, we still get the job done and Archicad does keep getting better (not perfect).
I particularly appreciate you showing how you use . I'ts a tool that very much allows for huge flexibility & creative use. I have done quite a chunk of the Keynotes setup in our Properties over the last few versions. I have not decided on a final application for our Keynotes yet and your approach makes good sense... I have some work to do here.
I'm keen to explore this version of your template. Thanks for your effort & sharing it with us this way 👊. Passing this on everywhere...
    Regards
    Francois

Glad you enjoyed the video. And create opening from selection does work, just needs an annoying workaround. For now.

i am today years old when i learned you could Create an Opening from Selection with a Window / Door...will definitely use this with doors placed in 'multiple walls'.
edit -- that's also a great idea to use Design Options for the Building Yard elements...ie -- typically used elements (walls / doors / objects) that are not in the Favourites, but are already placed in the model for users to copy/paste into their active project.

Create opening from selection is one of my favorite recent features to Archicad. And the building yard idea is a good one, though I'm trying to avoid it for my template.
I do think about doing basic bathroom or kitchen layouts as design options though. Those would be handy. To just have say a 5'x8' standard sink/toilet/tub bath in the template ready to go. Especially if you took it a step further and saved the bath as a module... Could be a great path when doing multi-family work.

Thanks for this Jared. - Are you using the International Version of Archicad or the USA version with International Windows? If you are using USA and INT Windows... Where do I download just the INT Window Library? Thanks

I'm using Archicad 28 USA. With the new Global Libraries, all the libraries are included with every localization of Archicad. So if you download my 28 template and are on 28, everything will just load correctly (with the one exception I mention in the post for people not using AC 28 USA).

6:10 Actually, the annoying thing is the fact that ArchiCAD is not creating the wholes in the siding automatically! As log as two or more paralel walls are connected to each other, the door/ window tools should punch a whole in all of them at once. Basically the door/ window tools should read the connected walls as if they are one. Revit does it!

Yes. This is a much needed improvement.

Element-based data should have two sub-categories: one of instance-based, and the other of type-based. Archicad needs more type-based data in my opinion.

Type-based data is so sorely needed in Archicad. In-place modules, linked favorites, etc. Would be so transformative for how we work.
