This exact same thing happened to me in '98 at the Windammer on Isle of Palms. Glen was on a solo tour, and his opening act canceled. In walked Darius and Mark from Hootie. Venue was maybe 100 people; we all got hammered and played in the ocean outside afterwards. One of the memories I'll never lose. Glen can fucking frolic in the ocean, lol.
