Jack has mentioned before that while writing this he was going through a lot of grief and I really feel it shows in the music. It almost feels as if you’re going through the stages with him. To me this album feels like “weird days”, like cold winter days where there’s snow on the ground, but a completely clear blue sky, or hot summer days where you’re bored out of your mind and just stare at the blue abyss above you. I feel like you can hear him locking himself away from everything as he grieves and stays inside his beige walls, writing music unsure of whether he wants to face the world yet or not. It almost feels as if you’re experiencing the four seasons pass from inside, wanting to go out but being scared to. I was looking through his Instagram, and there was an entire year gap between his Viator post and his previous one. You can tell he spent a long time on this. I think it’s beautiful and my heart hurts for him.
Stauber didn't actually spend as much time on this as you would think. On his Bandcamp he says that the songs were written and recorded May-July 2015.
"I made Viator while dealing with a lot of loss. Making it helped so much. Every night that summer I made a new song."
This indicates that for most cases, each song was only written within a day. Of course this only adds to the impressiveness of how well Viator turned out, and the "half-baked" aesthetics contribute to the album's overall style and themes.

I forgot the name of my channel for a second and laughed for a solid five minutes when I read your reply also it’s mean because I say it is mean JK you do you boo
For YEARS of my life, I never gave this album a chance- Now that I finally have, I'm so mad at myself for not doing it sooner. This album is SO GOOD!!!!!!
this album is so underrated
Well this is an instrumental album so yeah it'll be underrated and underappreciated.
still mad pop food blew up and this got left in the dust. have fun with buttercup but im staying with my one hour of somber acoustic guitar
I listen to this album at least once a day. I need to stop
Pork Free Coffee stop it now
You better be listening to it twice a day fam
This is me but with his other albums. I have memorized every lyric to every song off Pop Food, HiLo, and Finite Form, LMAO.
Viator is so weird, sad, nonsensical and creepy and I love it. It makes you feel a way that nothing else does, it's so depressing yet so compelling.
I've been describing it as "an album that tries to make you feel emotions that don't exist"
Just remember that Jack was going through loss in 2015, and making this album relieved him.
@@knight7297 they dont exist to anyone who hasnt had an experience similar to jack's when he wrote this album
A viator is someone with a life-threatening illness who intends to sell their life insurance, with another meaning saying it's a a wayfarer or traveler. I like the idea that the cover is an angel's wings that have been clipped off. It may also be those staffs on the sides of ambulances or a hand reaching down into darkness
Also a face without eyes or a mouth, took me a bit too see but i cant unsee it lol
Most underrated albums of jacks. If not this, finite form.
if i had to rank his albums (most popular to least popular) it’d go like this:
1. pop food
2. hilo
3. finite form
4. viator
This album is definitely Jacks best but finite form was pretty shit besides the first song in the album and The Diverge which is the best song don't @ me. Somehow the album was too on the nose yet too abstract somehow at the same time.
@@somerandomkid8898 idk i enjoyed finite form alot tbh especially the song ms led BUT i do enjoy alot of very weird, abstract, and psychedelic esque songs/things in general. finite form is def a little different from some of his other stuff tho but i wouldnt say its like out of his style or anything of the sort. i think it just depends on personal tastes n stuff
This album has just over half as many views as finite form. I think it's pretty safe to say this one's more underrated.
@@hardlyanydiggity3953 i commented this about 3 yrs ago now where finite form and viator were both scraping very very little views- theyve both (especially finite form) gained alot more traction since i posted this comment.
Can't believe I never listened to this album until now. I've been missing out.
For an hour long video, I wish some of you guys would comment so I can scroll down as I listen lol
I thought the title was vibrator for a minute, the cover didn't help either
Life flashed quickly, did you see it?
You'll ask yourself then, did you be it?
A person is gone
Time keeps hurdin' on, on, on
47:45 I like the reference to this part in O.U.R off the new album
I listened to this on my trip to Yosemite, and now this always reminds me of good times, and so does all of your music a love everything about your music style and your artistic styles as well. you are really an inspiration im a big fan, to put it bluntly also this is my dads account lol
I finally decided to listen to the album in full, and in the way Jack himself recommended, and my god that was amazing.
It's such an amazing feeling to get up completely relaxed and energized after it ends.

@@AHHHHHHHHHHHHl I did it and I ascended at the last song istg gonna go cry now
This may not be my favorite album or have my favorite songs Jack Stauber has made on it, but this album singlehandedly changed how I listened to music. For the longest time I skipped this album because of the reputation I would hear about it online which made me a bit skeptical. I listened to this album from start to finish while I was at work (I listen to music while I work to help keep me engaged and focused on my tasks) and stopped halfway because I got tired of it, tired of the unknown sound. The only song that stuck out to me was Christ Potion, which just struck my heart. The next day I again arrived at work Christ Potion was stuck on my heart and in my head so I decided to listen to it from start to finish no matter how much I wanted to stop. The second listening I really listened, not to what he was saying, but how I was feeling while listening. song after song I was relistening to almost every song just to find the feeling each song was making me feel, I’ve never had an album do that to me. I ended up relistening to the album twice just to recapture the feeling I had listening to it. Visitor went from an album I had been avoiding subconsciously to an album I think about often. Like I said this is not my favorite album or songs by Jack, but this album is probably the most important piece of music I’ve ever heard and will stay with me forever. Thank you Jack for making an album I can’t explain and can understand at the same time.
I feel that. The same thing happened to me because on my first listen I judged each song individually and wasn't really able to connect to the full work, but on a relisten I was able to appreciate the album a lot more
mr stauber can’t make a bad album
You answered correctly now clam your 1M dollars :side note: I don't have 1M dollars but the comment is still right tho
the album cover is a face with no eyes or mouth.

25:22 I'm sorry I just wanted to point out how casually he says "oh, the rain's going back up" as if thats happened before
Like, I know its Jack and all, but I've just been laughing at the for the past 5 minutes
I saw this comment right as it happened lmfao
also, i always interpreted that as the person being so exhausted with life that something that outlandish doesn't even faze him.
idk if its just bc where i am in life rn... but this is the most amazing album ive ever heard by him tbh. so underrated
I love these songs but every time I hear them I feel really sad for some reason.
its raining and storming outside on a humid summer day and i think thats one of the greatest ways to experience listening to this album
DUDE WTF I CHECK THE COMMENTS LIKE EVERYDAY I NEVER SAW YOU THE FIRST TIME THERES A THUNDERSTORM IN SUMMER IN MY COUNTRY YOU POP UP WHAT
you have a great vocal range. nice tunes for drawing.
Happy birthday viator❤ I didn't even know about Jack when this came out, but it's crazy how quickly time goes by. I don't usually comment on your videos Jack, and I know you won't see this, but I just want to thank you for everything. Every song, every video, every post. I only discovered you recently, but I've listened to all your music, even the old ones, and I love them all. Thank you for being your weird unique self. Sending good energy to you and anyone who sees this
you'd be surprised how often he interacts with youtube comments actually
@@hardlyanydiggity3953 ive seen him replying to comments before, but most of those were from 3 or more years ago. i think as his audience grew he stopped interacting with comments as much since I haven't seen him reply in a while

wish we could get another acoustic album
Damn everyone sleeps on this album
Near the end of Red Press, he says "Yellow sunshine rays are out, stay at home and laze about"
O.U.R. made a direct reference to this at the end of the song as well, which is pretty cool to see him bringing back old lyrics in his newer songs
Happy anniversary, Viator
this album rules.....along with everything else jack has released
im gonna move to pennsylvania when im an adult i want some of this magic
cracked egg Penn is boring as hell same thing with southern New Jersey stay awayyyy
And then I cried, I think I needed an outlet. Thanks for making this.
man, this is has not faulted on being my favorite album. Don't mean to be a suck up or anything, it's just really special. Thank you jack, you're a big inspiration of mine :)
Viator (the last song) has to be the best one in here, and it's the only song to make me feel sorrow. The laughtrack after he said "A person is gone" just broke me into shards.
Vanilla however is a good ringtone
The fact that this now has over 100k views makes me happy.
Love you jack, keep the great art that you make, my life has changed since i've heard your music, definitely one of the best things that happened to me was discover you.
The Scene:
I'm trying to focus on my literary analysis project about a work involving two sisters and their unconventional upbringing during the mid-nineteenth century, and truly highlight the complexities of these two characters.

Omg the last few minutes where magical
The song Ivory calms me down so much. I love listening to it in the early morning whilst watching the sunrise 💖💖
Naked Polly is my damn favourite. The middle part gave me cold shivers..
I have listened to all his albums today.
I listened to this at night, pitch black, full volume, headphones in laying on my back with my eyes closed and oh boy I think I ascended at that last song. Highly recommend.
As a massive fan of HiLo, I nearly crapped my pants at 47:40
i listened to this album when my nana was in the hospital and i felt like i could hear the sadness through the music and i cant unhear it this album has every thing poured into it and its one of those albums sometimes you can't relate but still somehow connect
Thank you!! My night feels better!
I hear a little bit of sunset rubdown in this. Love it, Jack!!!
This album is not my favorite of Jack's but for some reason it feels more important to me and I can't explain why.
My favorite song on vaitor is vanilla I can't describe why I like it so much
a lot of people have probably already noticed this but i just did and it's super epic,,
the first track of the album is called "On" and the last word of the last song is 'on'
Your music helps me so much
This album stuck out to me it feels so comforting because it sounds real it calms me down when I’m feeling stressed I can’t tell you how much this album means to me
*the cover is a crossbow*
It’s his way of drawing a person. The nose is that long dangly looking thing and the curves are supposed to be the eyebrow bone/place. You see it a lot on his art account, but that guess was one of the more creative I’ve seen
Scrambled Eggs this is all interpretations of the cover. This reddit bullshit is unable to be used here
This is the album I listen to when I'm stressed as hell at work and need to calm down, I listen to it at least once a week
Rotten apple reminds me of my toxic family. I had to roll away before i was corrupted with rot too. I think i was too late
Viator. A very underrated album
And a great album :)
You really are Artists... Thank you for your work... I really appreciate it and I listen to you every day. I LOVE YOU 💕
at the beginning, I swear that laugh sample is benson's laugh from regular show
Viator is one of my favorite albums and it has some of my favorite songs this entire album is nice to listen to if you're doing work or playing. This overall album gets a 10 out of 10. I might review these songs invidually but the probability of that is not much But I'll probably do that when I'm extremely bored
i was a bit turned off by pressed flowers at first, but after a while decided to go on and found out its really good
Out of Jack’s 4 albums this is very unique. While the others fit into the pop genre and are easy to get into and appreciate, but with this one is more acoustic and relaxed. Some of these songs are bad I’ll admit, but overall the album is amazing and has a great feel to it
You have so much of you, I am jealous of your talents. But more thankful that you share it.
Lake is my personal favourite! although this whole album is incredible I think Lake sounds really cool and I'm not sure why. I also love pressed flowers because of how long it is and the amount of different styles :)
WHERE HAS THIS BEEN??? Thank you so much...
this is weird to say but i really feel a connection to some of these songs. it’s like i understand what he’s saying through his music. part of me relates and part of me just feels such a strong connection to it at the same time
I love Soda Pop Heart, it sounds like a Neil Young song in few parts.
Beautiful - and from PA?? Wonderful work man. You're one heck of an artist.
Furry For Hire hold up, I'm not legal yet. Also I'm a guy. Don't know what are. If your a girl let's meet up 4 years.
Furry For Hire welp, we can still be freinds, and hopefully stay that way.
I think Vanilla is about sitting up at a wake, feeling drowsy as the hours tick by. All the embalming mixtures and potpourris are giving the room a warm, earthy, sweet smell, like pages of an old book, like vanilla…
Rotten Apple is underrated 58:34
This entire album is underrated. We can compare this with Finite Form to see the clear differences on views and the interaction rate(and Finite Form was Released in 2013).
2:38 is one of my favourite parts
fav album from my fav artist, love ya jack
I love this album so much all of the songs are beautiful works of art and I only wish jack the best in his more recent work if u see this jack I love you and your music and animations and I hope you all have a nice day
Viator, (The song) Really gives the impression of the end of a journey. A wonderful ending to this album of albeit mixed quality.
This helped me get over the girl I liked for a long time, but never ended up becoming anything. Funnily enough, I listened to this throughout June and July, about the same time these were written
You can not understand the experience of listening to the last song after the whole album its so damn melancholic man fuck
I LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM WEEKLY, AT THE *VERY* LEAST.
ITS SO G R O O V Y
Words can not describe how much I love this album it has helped me get through so much and still is it feels like a good hug while also feeling sad I use this album to fall asleep because it feels so interesting and comforting that I'm usually asleep within the first few songs it feels nostalgic in some wierd way it reminds me of catching the train early in the morning when everything looks wet because it just rained. I can't pick a favourite album but I would say this is one of my favorites it's very underrated. I live how all your albums feel like completely different experiences but they are all so good for different reasons Im not a huge fans of music but it's different for your music it. Thank you for asking making these and just existing
Honestly this album gets me in my feels
The over powering of the 2.3k likes vs. 12 dislikes
the last song - hit me like a train
its jack, probably getting over his unbearable grief and moving on with reluctance
this is most definitely my favourite Jack Stauber album .
I love this album with all of my heart aGH

Jack, that is my favourite album. I found out about you 2 hours ago and this album is so different.
first time i listened to this album i was like too high and the laughtrack in Viator gave me a near heart attack
also idfk why but The Walking Song is one of my fav songs of his. such a ridiculous ammount of energy
Viator is my personal favorite from this album
This is probably the best indie folk album I've ever heard
gonna give this album some love seeing as hilo and popfood are getting lots of it
"A viator is a person who has been diagnosed with a terminal or life-threatening illness and decides to sell their life insurance policy. In doing so, viators receive a portion of the death benefits while they are still alive." I learned this researching in my econ class today and had to share.
That's interesting
it also means 'traveler' in latin
Jack said that it’s supposed to mean traveler.
holy shit thats crazy
