That was my argument with my counselor when deciding the subjects for a law degree. He said you had 4 years of German in high school and told me I needed to take sophomore German. I was stunned, I asked why. He told me it was good for my credits. The only course I had as freshman in college pertaining to law was business law. I gave up and became an industrial engineer with a two year certification.

It pissed my brother off when he did my taxes and I was making more money than him and/or my sister. That saved a couple hundred dollars every month. I also leased a residence that was big enough for only me, because I don’t have any children or the need for more space, which costs more money. Of course now that I’m retired, I have a daily driver car and two classics. And, I share an attached duplex with my father with four spare bedrooms(only one is furnished as a bedroom). But, because we financed it in my dad’s name for a retired military benefit, we got a great finance rate. I am listed as the co-signed in case of his demise.

Even though I learned a lot thanks to online free schooling, I still couldn't land a job through the interview process. That could be because i'm such an introvert and sweat profusely if a person at a grocery store says something to me haha.. i have no idea. I finally ran across a stranger that was doing landscape design using map colors. I said.. "hey, i have a better idea". Then I went from zero income to $8k a month which is a lot to me. My late husband was the General Super over the field in high rise construction. NO COLLEGE. He started as a laborer and worked his way up learning every aspect of construction. Before he died (age 64,) he was making close to 200K a year. He would complain when he was given an Assistant Super who had all his learning from college. Why? Because they can't TEACH you in college what actually HAPPENS in the field. Those guys were SO lost when they got on the job. But, my husband being the great man he was, would take them under his wing and TEACH them the hard truth.... He also had an architectural student group come out to the job site he was on (Marina Blue, 888 Biscayne Bay, Miami, FL) and took them on a tour of the project. He showed them issues they were having in building according to the plans. They were shocked. He told them "Just because you can draw it doesn't mean it can be built." They actually thanked him for that bit of knowledge that they would NEVER get in class.

I have to basically bow down and ignore my beliefs while at work because I am told that if I do not, it will be considered being unfair to protected classes- I was having a discussion at work with a friend I have known for some time about a personal issue in relation to a family member coming out as transgender. A new employee who I am told identifies as “they them” came into the area and overheard the conversation and decided to write up an incident report stating no complaint but just that they want us to be aware that they are there and that we have to be more open to that and accepting of it- so now I am not allowed to have my own feelings and opinions? I didn’t say ONE negative thing about transgenderism or anything but this person was still bent out of shape enough to go to HR and they weren’t even a part of the conversation! What happened to the 1st ammendment? I guess it isn’t allowed to be a part of the work place?

The data shows that the jobs market is changing rapidly and the number jobs in the future that will require a degree is increasing similarly. Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Health care, Education, and Government Services are the fastest growing jobs and over 80% of jobs in these fields require a minimum of a bachelor's degree. College graduates consequently see an estimated 57% more job opportunities
Of the 11.6 million new jobs created in the US since 2010 an incredible 8.4 million of them have gone to people with a bachelor's degree over the same period jobs for high school graduates have grown by only an estimated 80,000.
The data shows that as of 2022 the unemployment rates for over 25's without a diploma is 3.6% but for those with one its only 1.9% Indeed data from the pew research centre shows that those without a degree are *three times more likely to be living in poverty than those with one* Only 6% of those holding a bachelor's degree live below the poverty line this rises to an incredible 22% when we look at those without one.
The average household led by someone with a college degree has $116,900 in a retirement account, which is more than three times the $36,000 for households led by someone with just a high school diploma. The earnings potential of those with a degree is also on an upward trajectory with an increase of almost 20% between 2020 and 2022.

I had three companies come to my home to do renovations. Carpets. Renovate my kitchen and drill and install a sub pump in the basement. The American employers negotiated the price, brought their work crew in. All immigrants! Some could not even speak English. They were taking work away from American workers. Greedy American employers are responsible for this.

I have been saying that college is a scam since the 1980s when I dropped out. I then became a self, taught software engineer. I have enjoyed a thirty year career earning a six-figure income. I never had a student loan. I get that most people can't become software engineers. And if you need an education, don't look past trade schools. They are far less expensive and provide a far more focused education.

As someone who only finished high school and did not further my studies, I always felt bad because I didn't have the funds to do so. But to students in college studying a very vague course and paying thousands - because I had more working experience, when you come out, you get paid the bare minimum for your papers but I get paid more though I have no papers because I have years of experience. Yes some jobs do require your studying but not EVERYTHING. And in the end you're left to pay off a debt that you are not working in. I have switched companies and let me tell you, I don't know anyone that is working in the field they studied and they are still happy with their job and pay. Please wake up kids.
