I truly love how Chinese cooking utilizes SO many ingredients…many that westerners would consider “inedible”. I just truly enjoy seeing the process of creating a dish….and never being wasteful. I wish my culture was more innovative with food and MUCH less wasteful 😮💨
How did the Chinese people discover these food source from underground roots ? I find that an amazing aspect of their culture. Also , despite their large population, the country's topography/geography remains unspoilt and beautiful, unlike Brazil and the Amazon . Those rivers and streams snakes through the vast lands and green mountains .
in the spring eat the fern tips, in the winter extract starch from the roots to make delicious pancakes. and remember the Chinese invented and discovered many things

this bracken root is called "aruhe" in Te Reo Māori - it was an important wild food source precolonization! bracken still grows everywhere here in Aotearoa (New Zealand), though not many people eat it anymore

He thought bacon grew on trees. When I informed him, he refused to believe. Met many Canadians who claim to be vegetarians who eat SPAM. Sad.

Looks like bracken root. A type of fern with a starchy root if the comments in Chinese are correct that is. And it also has some toxin content to it apparently perhaps a food that requires specific preparation to lower it, if not it may be a food in times of scarcity.
Hi! How are you? Korea/Seoul has somewhat escaped from ultrafine dust and yellow dust. Adding to the drought, I'm worried. I wish you good health and good things for the rest of the week. Thank you very much.

大概是因为中国人历史特别长,在这么长的历史中起起落落,特别遭遇战乱或天灾的经历不少,当生产被破坏,为了活下去,人们不得不寻找一切可能的替代食物,也许这是原因之一。
