I listen mostly to black metal, industrial music and other "darker" genres. This is so refreshing it brings instant smile on my face. Salam aleykum from Croatia.
I have seen Omar live and his band is comprised of one dude. A keyboardist, who plays all the music, drums everything completely live. soloing basically the entire time. Amazing to watch!!
I was in Germany for a gig of his. Three people pulled up on stage, I was so impressed! Props to him and his keyboardist, he pulled it on his shoulders!
Dear Modar, I am from Brazil a country in South America and I tell you, Arabian music is one of most beautiful music in the world, is different and it has a lot of feeling. I am Walter Araujo.
I just got out of traffic court today, damned Uncle Sam pinched me for $700 but then as I was listening to the radio, this song came up, and my world brightened up. ---- Thank you for sharing this song from the bottom of my heart. Whenever I am troubled I will listen to this and remember and be thankful. I am grateful.
I pray that I'll be able to see him live on thursday here in Sweden, if they allow him into the country!!! Pleaaasse!!!!!! This new single is amazing - purchased already! ;)
His keyboard master is Syrian Kurd and he is half Kurdish and Arabic. He is mostly mixing Kurdish traditional melodies as background music into this Arabic songs. His another song Warni Warni (“come come” in sense of come and join us) is Kurdish wedding song. Enjoy universal language of Music. ❤️❤️❤️
Hahaha Mate i thought u would laugh if you or any American or britches listen to our Songs hahaha :P if u know what he says in song u will laugh but its amazing

Kieran (the producer of the album), known as Four Tet, is probably one of the best electronic producers of the decade, I think that's why everybody's ending up here.
You know, everyone is saying how new this sound is, but the reality is it isn't at all, it's only new to ppl outside of the Middle East. I lived in Jordan for sometime, I guarantee you can hear music just like this at parties before weddings, or large gatherings where there's music; the guys who do this stuff have been getting creative and playing around w/ mixers and traditional beats for awhile now. Granted, he's from Syria, not Jordan, but the music across Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Palestine is very similar, they are pretty close. It is pretty cool, but it's not new, you could probably find even more if you ask Arabs about it(I'm American, not Arab, btw, so yeah, a bit of an anomaly I guess..).
Dance music and traditional "arab"/north african music are mixed for quite a long time, it must exist since dance music appeared I guess. But I think Omar Souleyman has a really special thing that reach to european/""""occidental"""" people somehow ? Or people that listen to european/american/occidental globalized electronic music at least. It would be really interesting to know exactly why and how. I personnally love arab music a lot but sometimes the dance versions are a bit too kitsch for me and not in the kind of kitsch that I enjoy or am used to, and what I like with him is that it is very kitsch too but in a way that I'm more attracted too. I really like what I'm kind of sensing too, that it is playing with clichés a lot. I'm not sure of this but... In his music vids it kind of shows, I think he's kind of making fun of us and our clichés about those cultures while not mocking those cultures I really like it too.
I'm Syrian , I've just known about this man !!! do people who live in Europe & U.S really like his music ??? this is a very very old tradition local music in Syria & the Arab world , actually it's the music of the Bedouin in deserts ... I don't listen to this kind of music !!! not many people in Syria listen to this ! I'm surprised that people in the west admire this guy so much !!! ... I don't mind it I'm just surprised !
What did you expected ? And don't worry : people who live in Europe & US realy think that you listen only to this kind of music. (and they don't even know what Bedouin mean...) Fortunately the world is not always as we imagine it ! Enjoy.
I saw this live at a festival and .... it is just a HIPSTER HYPE. Just some Arabic guy walking slowly over the stage from left to right with some simple synthesizer sounds from a keybpard player. Wtf people, whats next. A guy hitting pieces of wood from Borneo, and a bunch of trendy people going crazy about it !?!? ´´Woooo yea this is sooo awesome and different like me!! Bleeegh
we dig the way omar souleyman's music mixes with four tet 's electronic sound. it delivers the same kind of energy ibrahim qashoush had when asking bash ar to leave syria. the song that got him killed
It will be more popular in cities with middle eastern populations which is a lot of USA at least. The producer is a very famous englishman also which will account for some of the popularity some of his fans will like to buy it out of curiosity. It's a great album, cheers.
