I had pains from laughing in the theatre watching this scene. When he had his feet on Lom's shoulders and the disguise was melting you can see that they were trying to keep it together but were losing it. It was the most hilarious scene ever.
It was interesting to hear Peter Sellers, when asked in an interview, "What were your favorite roles"? He never even mentioned a single Pink Panther Movie. He said, "Being There" (which WAS superb) and "Dr. Strangelove". I think he will always be remembered as Inspector Clouseau. He was BEYOND unforgettable in that role. Hilarious!!!

That scene must have been so difficult to shoot more than once if they had to. It takes a lot of very accomplished acting skills to laugh in such a way and for so long, yet make it sound as genuine as they did. And imagine if you had to do it all over again, with equal sincerity, if a retake was required... Both Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom we’re masters of their craft.
I saw The Pink Panther Strikes Again at the Odeon, Leicester Square, London in February 1977, on it's original run. It was - and still is - the funniest movie I have ever seen. I left the theatre with a full carton of popcorn because I couldn't eat it for laughing!
This scene almost killed me once; and I'm NOT exaggerating. ... I fell off my bed LMFAO and hit my head on the nightstand -- HARD. ... And when I got up, I was still LMFAO! Peter Seller + Herbert Lom = a whole new definition of Hilarious.
I used to watch Laurel and Hardy with my late father and sometimes he had to take Nitro heartmedicin because he laughed so much. (He did not die of laughter, the "doctors" killed him in Finland....)
1:53 : when he falls down the stairs, and he comes upstairs again, the line he said is pure comedy. "It was hell down there"....always cracks me up. This is also the best in the series of the pink panther.

I always considered him a more serious Actor and was 1st exposed to him in the movie arachnophobia. Which was in and of itself a very good film in my opinion I got to see arachnophobia in the theater for free by allowing a tarantula to crawl up my right arm on to my shoulder. Pretty cool.
Hollywood would have been 10x's richer than it is now if those 2 could still make movies. I'd watch Pink Panther movies all day as long as they made them.

Peter Sellers was the greatest comedic genius of the 20th century, no doubts about it. No one could even come close, even the great comedians of the 20th and early 21st century couldn't touch him. Strangely enough, Sellers was a very depressed man, just like Robin Williams, Sellers found it hard to be out of character, very hard and in the privacy of his home he was extremely sad and depressed.

Slim Pickens stole that movie riding the bomb. But Major Kong's emergency survival kit check was the best.
His 50s stuff is fantastic too, but a lot of those were ensemble comedies. Ladykillers especially. Mouse that Roared is another.
