I blocked my tremolo on the last string change due trying a much heavier gauge string set. (Ibanez Joe Satriani model) I miss my 80’s Dean Hollywood Z that got lost in the mail from APO address that had a great setup with a tremolo.
@@NickLeonard I didn’t have any extra springs at the time I was changing strings. Just learning about Floyd Rose setup with string gauge change. I was more interested in experimenting with different string gauges. Is Stew Mac the best source for springs?
@@MajorGRecording I'm sure you can get them cheap off amazon or something too, but StewMac carries good stuff. How big if a jump in gauge and did you change tuning? If the tension isn't way different, you can also add some by screwing in the plate that holds the springs, that's how you make fine adjustments
@@NickLeonardIn Sweden it's a given, you get a free set up on new guitars in every store and all of them has at least 1 guitar tech. Btw great review, thanks for sharing!
thoses JS32 are great mods guitars, I have the same model, needed an good setup and fret dressing too, changed the pickups and the pickguard for a black one and it looks killer, the licensed floyd is good enought but doesn't stay in tune really well, I had to block mine in "dive only" mode, this is the next part im planing to change. speaking of floyds that stays in tune, YES there are amazing floyds that stay perfectly in tune even if you go crazy on them, but they cost the price of a good guitar alone... I have 3 Original german floyd roses on my Alexi guitars (Im a big fan too haha 😅 ) and they are still standing after years of use. Most important is to NEVER setup the post height with the strings in tension or you will destroy the blades edges. Im currently making a replica of the early Alexi's jacksons he had in COB and Sinergy, all out of a JS32HT body and an JS32 neck, same model as yours. Keep it up man, hope you're going to practice some COB riffs on this thing 🤟
@@lethium4250 I couldn't find a black pickguard anywhere, but I got a blank sheet. I think the only clean way to do it is a router template, so it's gonna be a bit of work for it!
@@NickLeonard yeah, I picked up mine on another rr, you can cut your own in a blank, a template is the cleanest way to go but you can do it by hand too if you're careful enough, use the original pickguard as a model to trace it down on the blank. Best thing by do it yourself is you can choose where and how many pots you want on your guitar.
Do you have a Floyd Rose, and did it change your life?

@@NickLeonard If I remember correctly, the string gauge went from super slinky to skinny top/heavy bottom.
Awesomeness can't be worded how I'm missing out on my own try on this Axe, I just want one that stays eadgbe
I need one now
Love JS32s! I have 2 of them and play great for the price
well alexi played jacksons till 2003 so imo jackson rhoads with 1 pickup is THE alexi laiho guitar for me :)
also awesome vid, keep rocking!
every guitar shop should have this kind of setupper (before the deal)
@@Kurjistaja true, but too expensive unless it's a high end guitar!
I'd charge 100-200 for the labor

Children of boredom Alexi sometimes tunes to drop c or d standard. I’m not sure but I know downtown for some songs. I’m a big fan of them too

I do want to get a guitar with a Floyd Rose and a sustainiac neck pickup! 🤘🏻☠️😎
