      Eerily similar to Dale Sr tragic accident.
      The silent response to Blaneys wreck by Dale Jr in the announcers booth spoke volumes without him saying a word.
      Thankfully there are soft walls and other safety advancements and glad Blaney walked away. However I’m still concerned about lasting CTE type injuries for these guys. Much like in the NFL many of these problems won’t surface for some time.

    I was far more concerned with Blaney's crash than with Preece's. Flips look spectacular, and to a degree it tricks us into thinking it's worse than head on collisions because they look so mundane.

      I do agree to a point, but man these cars are hard to damage and Preece's was still pretty much in tact when it stopped flipping. I get it that they don't want tires and engines flying into the stands or intrusions into the roll cage harming driver but they still don't dispell energy well in those types of crashes. I know the roof flaps prevent many of these crashes but can still happen under the right circumstances.

    Can we just stop skating around it and say what's true? The Gen 7 car needs an aggressive overhaul from safety aspects to aero. It needs it yesterday. NASCAR needs to let the teams help with it because they are better at building cars than the sanctioning body.

    This is not an unprecedented wreck. Cars have barrel rolled 10 plus times before. The exact reason this happens less recently is Daytona paved most off the backstretch minus the road course and the same at Talladega. Preece's car dug into the grass causing it to flip more violently. When a car tumbles on pavement there is nothing for the car to dig into so there will be no extra rotation created by that.

    This car will kill someone! Just had a driver who races for 15 plus years have to retire earlier that day because of this car! That diffuser when turned around lifts the car.......get rid of it and the front and rear clips still need alot of work

    • @1320crusier
      @1320crusier Рік тому

      The diffuser itself didnt do it. The floor as a whole did help lift the car. Ultimately teh flaps failed because of the giant wing surface. More pressure actuated flaps in the floor would do a LOT to prevent this stuff. And remember, this happened at a much lower speed compared to the gen 6 car.

      Any car can kill you. This car is the safest car that NASCAR has ever used. Although there are still some issues with certain parts such as the roof hatch and things like that, that need to be looked at. But the progress in safety has been nothing short of incredible. These cars are going at crazy speeds. These drivers know that it's dangerous. Nothing is safe at these speeds. But I do understand what you're saying. Yes, there's still room for improvement.
