This movie is aging fine like wine. The more rewinds i see of this movie, it makes me realize how good it was. It addressed mental issues and dealt with superstition, taboo and myths in a proper way and making us laugh along the way. Tbh it had the greatest plot twist and was ahead of its time. Bhool bhulaiyaa 2 was shit compared to this masterpiece.
Ameesha Patel has her seperate solo song in this movie "Sakhiya", which was the most beautiful song out of all songs..but unfortunately it was cutted out during the final execution of this movie because of debate between Ameesha and makers!! That song is still available on UA-cam..Ameesha nailed in that song!!

There is one thing in this movie that most didn't noticed, when avni is warned by chachaji about the 3rd floor somewhere around 32:00 in the original movie available on UA-cam. He mentioned That 2 ghosts were trapped there, but since monjulika or avni is debunked, then who or what or where is the second one?
Manichitrathazhu was remade in four languages - in Kannada as Apthamitra which in turn was remade in Tamil as Chandramukhi , in Bengali as Rajmohol and in Hindi as Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Also similar story in telgu as Nagavalli.
In all these versions, Bhul Bhulaiya was best I also watched Chandramukhi but they reserved entire idea of the movie, like they had shown Chandramukhi as snake, that's why it seems bit illogical as compare to Bhul Bhulaiya, which was more logical.
Bhul bhulaiya was perfect example of Pshychological Horror and also Horror Comedy, this movie was complete masterpiece and i recommend everyone to watch this Akshay Kumar and Vidhya Balan gave epic performance, specially Vidhya Balan deserved national award for her performance

many of the people still take bhool bhulaiya as a horror and comedy genre, whereas it was meant to aware people of the just opposite that nothing supernatural exists it's just the psyche of the mind. this movie was actually way ahead in of it's time because it showed issues of mental illness. and ofcourse no movie can match the comedy level of this.
Did Avni was trained in dance like Manjulika? Avni exactly copied many things of Manjulika, specially at the end when Guru ji order Manjulika to release Avni The movie was something else which we can't assume, it may be Supernatural + Psycho, where it explains both states of mind.

And her other self starring building up. And yesss. Even tho avni didn't know how to speak Bengali or dance like that, the other Personality somehow did. (I don't have a logical reasoning behind this but am sure psychologist know about it. ) If you watch a Hollywood movie called "split" you will get some idea. Or if you have watched "breathe s2" there too the male protagonist was suffering from the same. Hope it helped. Thank you.
