      Thank you for a clear, calm and lovely instructional video! I made one from cotton yarn that was #4 med and went to the 6 dc size and it was the size of an ikea cork trivet. I can't wait to find more colours in cotton yarn. It is difficult to shop with this covid restriction period. I have subscribed to your channel. Keep up the wonderful work!

      Thank you. Med 4 is fine. Peaches and cream, bernat handivrafter, drops paris, Scheepjes Cahlista, Durable Double Four, Sugar 'n Cream...and lots more they are all great to use too. 💝

    I truly love this design. It is one of my most favorites. I've made numerous hats of yours in this design for low income seniors in nursing homes & for the less fortunate ladies on the street in Alberta, Canada where our winters are cold. Plus I've made numerous hats in this design for babies & preemies in the NICUs in various hospitals in western Canada. I am a huge fan of yours. Now it would be amazing if you could design a pattern for blankets.....thanks so much for all your fantastic tutorials

    I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you sharing your patterns. You're very easy to follow. I'm sharing a picture of your pattern I used to make this with Scheepies Catona mercerized cotton yarn. I had the colors on hand to do somewhat of an Ombre'. I used a 3.75mm hook and the last round, I made 3 stitches up, SS in top of shell and sc2,SC back in same stitche( picot) SC 3 back to the two stitches joining each shell, sc 3 and go back in same stitch and repeat all the way around. Thanks again! Sorry it wouldn't let me share the photo.

    • @MadeBySiem
      @MadeBySiem  2 роки тому

      Awww thanks Scheepjes catona is a Dutch brand ;) Love that cotton yarn. It is thinner than the yarn I used for my version. I have made a few myself with Catona, they have turned out lovely. If you like you can share a photo with me via email. madebysiem@outlook.com or become a member of our facebook group made by siem headquarters. Thank you for reaching out! Enjoy your day. Well, I am used to the boring square pot holder then I saw your video on magic circle (great instruction on magic circle) round pot holder and definitely need to try this. I usually dislike front post just because it is awkward but this is so unique looking it will probably change my mind. I bought on sale thin cotton yard so I will attempt to use two strands and create this, should turn out great. Thanks

    This is lovely! Thanks for the tutorial - and the idea for a different usage. While I would use this as a "hot pad" on which to put a hot pot to save my wood table or ceramic countertop, since I use cast iron pots and pans, if I put that on the handle of cast iron pan handle at least one of my fingers is gonna slip right through one of those holes and get burned. So I'm gonna figure out how to make this into a blanket Square or Hexagon shape and use it that way in a blanket and with acrylic yarn. It's quite beautifully done!

    • @MadeBySiem
      @MadeBySiem  2 роки тому

      A hot pad might be a better name for it, I agree. I also use them as a pannenonderzetter, which is dutch for I thought pot holder, but it seems like the right word is hot pad ;). Thank you, I will change the name.

    • @kayceegreer4418
      @kayceegreer4418 2 роки тому

      @@MadeBySiem Well, from what I understand of various researches on words and their origins - I love etymology of words and how language changes through history - "pannen-onder-zetter" kinda sounds like it means "pan(s) under setter", like a pot coaster.
      Since you know Dutch better than I do, and do speak English well too, What is the word "pannenlap" used for? Is that not specifically what you use to hold a hot pan handle? As many English speakers do, I tend to like a short word better than a long one, hahaha!

    • @kayceegreer4418
      @kayceegreer4418 2 роки тому

      @@MadeBySiem Maybe you could be the one to give "pannenonderzetter" an updated English equivalent by calling it a "hot pot coaster" or "pan coaster"? Its very possible that not every English speaker would call it a hot pad - because it might mean something else in another culture - but, I think everybody, universally, knows what a coaster is, right?
      EDIT: being who I am, and loving the study of words, I searched "English to Dutch" and entered "pot/pan coaster" and wouldn't you know it, "pannen onderderzetter" (yeah, there was a space) was the result.
      Do you speak Flemish too? I'm going to go play with Flemish....
      Bummer, it's all the same. This Flemish very different from Dutch? Is it kind of just another dialect?

      Sorry I must have missed this comment. You can't keep it growing like it is. What you can do is adding a border with Double crochet and start again. That might be an option, but the look of the design will change.

    This is beautiful...what do you call this stitch and do you have this pattern written out?

      Unfortunately there is no written pattern available. The Stiches are called double crochet and front post double crochet (or shells. there is no specific name for the stitches combined.

    Hi! Just want to say thank you for all the videos you made, I have been off work doing the COVID 19 pandemic and quarantine at my mountain home surrounded with natural, so I decided to try to do something different to kill time and I went across your website and I love all your work. So far I have made hats, hot pats , ears warmers and scarf. And I think I will continue to follow you for more new work. Thank you!
