That’s great news about the possible testing for Apoe 4. I’ve been very curious about doing gene testing but I’m not 100 sure which company to trust. I do trust Dr. Cabral so will be looking forward to this test.
Ty for this! I recently found out that I am an APOE4 carrier and my grandmother unfortunately is in the midst of dementia/Alzheimer’s… I have also always suffered from awful cholesterol yet being thin, which is all making sense now. Basically thanks for an “understanding” perspective.
Thank you for this video - I just subscribed to your channel. Your approach seems very balanced and I look forward to hearing more from you about APOE4 as information comes available. I found out in the past 6 months that I have APOE4/APOE3 and have a positive calcium score. Both my cholesterol and triglycerides have been high ever since they started being measured over 20 years ago. Doing Low Carb and sometimes Keto over the past 9 months, I've lost 14 pounds and dropped my triglycerides just barely into the normal range while my cholesterol and LDL have increased to even higher levels. Also had APOb tested and it's very high as well. It feels like threading a needle with my diet between managing insulin resistance (I think of triglycerides as the indicator since I can't find anywhere locally that will do a Kraft test) by eating high fat, low carb and then trying to managing cholesterol which takes a different approach than for insulin resistance. I did try high carb low fat (& no processed food or oils) for about 6 months and my cholesterol remained flat but my triglycerides went very high. Keto is worrying me with the high level of saturated fat so I'm considering adding fruits, beans & lentils back in my diet and reducing some of the fat to see what that does for me. Right now, without well established guidance for APOE4 carriers, my approach is to try and then test.
Thanks for the sub! I would start with a 21-Day StephenCabral.com/Detox-1 to help remove Obesogens, Diabetogens, and Endocrine disrupters. Follow this with the StephenCabral.com/Fatlossity-1 program and consider the StephenCabral.com/Starter-Kit-1 labs so that we can correct underlying imbalances and deficiencies. This will make the dietary and lifestyle changes easier to stick. The labs come with a free consult and personalized wellness plan based on your results ⭐️
This does not make sense. Apo e4 is the oldest version of the gene. I’m pretty sure our original ancestors were hunter gatherers earring meat. It has been shown in studies of South Americans that Apo e4 carriers have higher cholesterol without it doing them any harm, especially when they become lean. It seems the problem is the inflation that comes from poor glucose metabolism that is the issue. What about the huge number of people that have normal or low cholesterol that have heart attacks?
APOE4 is associated with elevated blood lipids and lower levels of innate immune biomarkers in a tropical Amerindian subsistence population www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8480980/
My father and his brother both had vascular dementia but I’m assuming this would be something different? I still would like to test for this though when available. Thank you for the information!
Love your reasonable explanation. Every other person is saying do keto. And to me keto is such a fad diet and there is not enough info about it. Plus it’s not sustainable and is yuck.

I found out that I have the gene from a DNA test on MyHeritage.

Actually apoe4 is the oldest variant of the apoe gene.

Similar aspects, but different, yes. Alzheimer's is neurodegenerative while vascular dementia is a vascular issue.

Absolutely! Thank you

Absolutely true for most people.
