Conga is a timeless Latin dance anthem by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine. Its upbeat tempo and catchy rhythm have made it a global favorite for decades.
I was thrilled to kick off the APSN Charity Gala Dinner 2024 with my performance!
This music piece Gloria Estefan’s “Conga,” is vibrant and full of energy. “Conga” is known for its lively mambo beats and infectious rhythm, which I hope my dance performance have made it just as captivating . The dance featured quick footwork, rhythmic hip movements, and dynamic arm actions, embodying the joyous and celebratory spirit of the song.
I first performed this dance at the World Down Syndrome Congress 2024. My parents and I were brainstorming what song to perform for the event. We watched a bunch of Latin dances and movements, and then we decided on “Conga.”
Next, we went to my Latin Dance teacher to work on the choreography. Mr. Andy was very gracious to help me with the choreography. At the same time, Mr. Henry helped me to perfect my techniques. It was a 3x a week practices from both teachers, beyond my usual dance practices.
