On the culture part…..upon the completion of initial intake assessments…..do we refer the clients out to another service provider because we don’t like the culture or not familiar with it, or do we educate ourselves about the culture during our time with the client ? Also, on the exam, if the question states that the SW does not like a particular culture due to a personal past experience….and that it may impact their ability to serve the client…….do we seek supervision or do we refer the client out?
Hey, Emmanuel! When it comes to working with people from a culture we’re unfamiliar with, we want to educate ourselves about their culture as much as possible prior to working with them. Yes, we will naturally learn more about their culture as we work with them but It’s not their job to educate us about their culture. Countertransference: In short, when the social worker is feeling some type of way (whatever those emotions may be) towards the client/clients they’re working with to the point where it’s impacting or will potentially impact the quality of service the social worker is providing. That is correct, the social worker would want to seek supervision to discuss the matter. If it’s to the point where it’s “too much” for the social worker, a referral is usually needed but seeking supervision to discuss first is recommended. Here’s a link to the NASW Code of Ethics playlist I created. It helps clarify some of these questions as well 👌🏾 ua-cam.com/play/PLlaChSIzjuYBhUfQDEQrOqi-uRC9z2HvS.html
Hi, I’m interested in knowing your days and times of your study groups. Is it possible for you to provide me your schedule for those and pricing? Thank you in advance 😊
Hey! Check out this form! This week we're doing practice questions! Form: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdqVOrwc2tFzora4K1RqANRM5S94xIxAqy5qfU9_tw0ox9NoQ/viewform
Good video. But how is a person’s /client’s UA-cam private if it’s public info? Is the rule the same for clients not to search a social worker online ?
Hey, Ciara! Yes! I do study groups every Saturday at 2 PM EST. The form is located in the description of every video and I have it here for you as well. Hope to see you there 🙏🏾 docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdqVOrwc2tFzora4K1RqANRM5S94xIxAqy5qfU9_tw0ox9NoQ/viewform
Nope! The therapist has to be both IN the state they’re licensed in and can ONLY provide services to a client IN the state they’re licensed in. Example - I’m only licensed in New Jersey. If I went to New York for the weekend and wanted to provide therapy via Telehealth (online) to a client that’s in New Jersey but I was in New York for the weekend, I wouldn’t be allowed to do that. For me to provide services to a client we both need to physically be in New Jersey. Side note - Last time I checked, the board is looking to make adjustments to this but noting has been confirmed as of yet.
@@raytubelcsw thank you. I've been watching your videos ALL morning and they are really good. I'm looking forward to tomorrow as well. I appreciate you.
As social workers, let's support NASW: www.socialworkers.org/About/Ethics/Code-of-Ethics/Code-of-Ethics-English

Hello! Will you be having any study sessions in October 2023?
Hey, Amy! Yes! The study group schedule is updated every Sunday.
Good video. But how is a person’s /client’s UA-cam private if it’s public info? Is the rule the same for clients not to search a social worker online ?
Awesome 👌
Are you still doing study groups? If so, until when?

What if the therapist is in another state on business, servicing a client in the State we are licensed. Is that ok?

@@raytubelcsw thanks for sharing this information. Where may I read more on this; the guidelines for where one may practice with their license?
