That’s actually pretty impressive what you did with the stock lt1 head vs an afr headed sbc. Thanks for sharing, sadly people in the comments do not understand engines and you can expect people to try and compare an engine with over 50 years of old technology to an LS based race engine from the factory. If it wasn’t for the LS these copycat builders would be sitting in the stands. Real engine builders can build any engine and make power. Not just an engine that needs a cam and a tune to make over 500hp.
TPV Productions I just wanted to make sure you were looking at the “Net” lift after lash. I don’t like to run less than .050-.060” coil clearance at Max net lift. There’s also some validity to running lift on the intake side about .020” above where the head flowed it’s best numbers, I just can’t remember what they call it. Keep working it’s running strong! JD
There you go,I want to see the 400 .I love em and have a 355/406 but am a motor man and for the cost now days which actually better than yrs gone by,sadly the economy isn’t but I always build for longevity but if you’re racing I get it.again nice work
Fun fact; my 2015 Cadillac ats 3.6 has 11.5 to1 compression ratio and they recommend 87 octane, right in the owners manual! Lol. I guess direct injection is the game changer.

Ok so you know how all these younger gen guys are making car videos? This is someone like him but older, if they could record themselves back then you'll see what I mean lol. Great video, I tinker with my 95 Formula at home so this is good stuff for later. Thanks!
Do you think port matching a victor jr intake to felpro 1206 to match my already ported heads will be beneficial or weiand team G. Which is better? Thanks for the info.
Cool video! I have a question. When you set your valves, do you set the exhaust when the intake is all the way down or when it's coming back up? It's not a big cam, just a Lunati 268 voodoo..
As long as the lifter is on the backside of the lobe it doesn't matter how you adjust it. When I do mine I just roll the engine over until both lifters are down and just adjust a 1/4 past 0 lash. People argue over what 0 lash is. Some say when you can't spin the pushrod. Lloyd Elliott taught me differently. He told me to carefully try to lift the pushrod vertically and you slowly adjust the rocker until it just stops moving vertically and adjust 1/4 turn from there. I've done this for over a decade now and it never fails me.
Nice content but I'm not sure if it's my internet or if your shooting your videos with a first gen iphone really blurry tried reloading multiple times...

So, don't take this the wrong way, I have no idea how good your porting ability is but have you considered a set of Lloyd Elliott ported 21* Trick Flow's? Lloyd did a phenomenal job on mine and my car is begging for a better bottom end and a solid roller.
It was more about doing the heads myself than paying another person to do them. With all the options out there the cost of trick flow heads and a port job was out of my budget / willingness to pay.
TPV Productions oh I understand that, I like to do a bit of porting on things myself and I feel like I have a pretty decent feel and talent for it but to be really honest with you the more I learn the less I know and it becomes so incredibly complicated. Not to mention the fact that your biggest result is something you can't do at home, the valve job.

Nice to see some updated videos of the Lt1. I have an 95 impala
I’ve decided to use my extra corona time to go through my 383 LT1. It’s time for fresh rings and bearings.
Awsome use of corona money too !!!

Great videos thank you very much for your uninhibited tips and tricks and the effort to make these videos .
Looking back on your LT1 head flow video, don’t they flow pretty good between.570-.600” lift? If so you might pick up some MPH with 1.60 rockers.
Yea it probably would but, I had the spring install height a little tight and felt more comfortable with the 1.5s rockers.

Sometimes things are just over cammed and end up going slower would of been interesting to see what the gen 1 would of did with the lt1 cam

I have a comp cam kit if I pay you how much would you charge to help me install it. Well if you have any extra free time.
the paint on your block is worth more than my build

What size intake runners on the AFR heads? What combustion chamber size? What size carburetor were you running?
Yo this is a great video that I always wanted to see
I put a intake on my lt1 now i cant get oil to my rocker arms and I have 70 lbs pressure
It would be cool to see what the gen 1 sbc would do with your lt1 cam. Too bad it won't fit.

The 210cc AFR heads on the sbc, are they 65cc combustion chamber?
Yes but the LT1 is 52 at least on mine they are.
Those are fast little motors. I wish I could get my 383 stroker to run those kind of times in my Nova. Good job!
Do you think port matching a victor jr intake to felpro 1206 to match my already ported heads will be beneficial or weiand team G. Which is better? Thanks for the info.
I don't really think it would make that much difference. Both are solid intakes if ports match right.
This guy is a boss 👌🏼
I have a LT1 that ive blown the head gasket twice now pegging the rev limiter. is there a better head gasket or something i can do to prevent this?
Shave the heads.
Are the LT1 heads raised port or just the LT4? The gen1 sbc vortec are supposed to be based of of one of them.
No, they are not raised like a lot of aftermarket heads. The Vortec port is a little higher. I do raise mine by porting them as much as I could.
What company is working on a aftermarket block for the LT1?
Manufacturer name has not been released yet. Our current situation is probably slowing down the process.
Honestly dont matter . great video but both are sbc engines.
7500rpm rev limit for my roller cam. Cast Crank, Cast Pistons. 8500rpm for the flat tappet in me 307 small block Chevy and Cast flat top Pistons.
Awesome RPM I love the sound of a SBC over 7500. 🎼
Especially a 307
That 3.25 stroke has a sound all its own
Lol I dont believe it. Must have quite the valvetrain for that flat tappet, and some bulletproof lifters.
