The Village was the first thing I saw Bryce in, and I'm not gonna lie, I kinda fell in love with her, she looked so beautiful and she was so good in it
I felt the same way. It was something about her character that was so wholesome. It’s hard to explain, but she was someone you’d introduce to your parents after the first date. Maybe even on the first date. lol
It really is inspiring to see wealthy, privileged people find true success on their merits alone, against all odds. Truly inspiring. I don't get why everyone doesn't just work as hard as them and get what they want. it's so easy.
The Lady in the Water was an imaginative and excellent film. I am a production designer and I loved it so much I ended up seeing it three times. BDH was fantastic!
Watched The Village very recently (Google knows that, hence this video popped up in my page) , beautiful movie and still very enjoyable after these years.. Bryce's performance was exceptionally good...
I gotta say: I was MESMERIZED by her performance in lady in the water. It’s a shame the film gets so much cynicism now, I was taken away by the story and remember sitting at the end in that children’s choir version of The times are a-changing and being very moved.
Bryce, I fell in love with Ivy Walker, the scene where she stands in the open door hand out stretched waiting for Lucius to come to her… that’s true love. When the film came out, and ever since, whenever someone says they didn’t like the Village, I tell them go back and watch it as a love story not a scary movie… they fall in love with her too.
Soooo interesting!! This is something I suspected about Shyamalan after watching The Servant, in which he cast Rupert Grint in a prominent role, Rupert not having really worked after Harry Potter, it relauched his career.
I am sure it’s a blessing and a curse to be in the shadow of her father, with all the connections. People will always wonder if he gave her the role as a way to connect himself to gain favor with Ron Howard and others. And, given that his last film, Trap (which was horrible), was basically a publicity move to hopefully jump start a music career for his daughter, we now know he will use his projects for personal promotion. That said, generally he is a good film maker and Bryce was deserving of the role regardless of who her father is. She killed it in The Village.
Yes, . . . . . or maybe her stage performance was enough to convince Night to take a chance based on her performance, Bryce seems humble about her earlier performance. Success in acting is based on steps and not on huge reckless leaps. Actors should be careful students of the material and the whole process with cast and crew. Her red hair obviously contributed somewhat to Night's choice. The Village appears as an ensemble cast and not high profile stars. Bryce appears to fit Night's conceptual vision for the part, . . . . not too complicated to understand.
@justindza In this story about her previous acting and then Bryce working with Night on "The Village", I am merely having a partially informed guess. I am learning more from her interview. I didn't know or remember the backstory on Bryce's be hiring for "The Village".
While it's admirable that the Director advocated for Bryce to receive more than minimum for her role, it's not like he lost anything in doing so. The Village (2004) made over 250 million dollars at the box office, and hundreds of millions of dollars in DVD Sales (Back in 2004, DVD sales were a major component of a film's revenue)
I feel like M Night Shamalam is an insanely good screen writer but a mediocre at best director. I'd like to see him write a script and work with a younger up and coming director to direct a movie of his
I know this is negative but I think her father pulled some string in financing that film and get her foot on the movie industry. Its not bad but you could just not look away how convenient it feels.
I’m sure that could be part of it, but thank goodness she was able to get her break cuz she’s an amazing actress in many things I’ve seen her in and we’re better for it.
Back then a sighted person could play a blind person and no one even thought to think or say anything about it. I wonder what would happen if it was made now.
To give a bad performance and in the same week see a famous director in an audience and have a fleeting thought he’s going to want to make a movie with you is pure sub conscious privilege and nepotism at play. I like Bryce but the story could have been summed up as, well my father’s famous.
I still love "Lady in the water" & "The Village". ❤

It’s an amazing thing when people in power go out of their way to help others.
Ron Howard’s daughter lol
Dammit, now I'm crying. It is truly heart-warming that the daughter of one of the most powerful men in Hollywood got so many opportunites.
Lol awesome

It was like The Shape of Water.
@@twinpeaksfan929 which came out years after Lady in the Water...
A podcast with mic stands and chill decor ❤, we don’t ask for much.
The Village is one of my favourite films

Two of my favorite actresses! Now I have to find the whole video!

I agree, its one if not my favorite M Night movie.
The story was so good, and the characters were so good.
Highly underrated movie for sure.

The Village is very interesting film with mysterious romantic vibe.. I really enjoyed the film when I watched on TV for first time.. 💛💛
She had really good chemistry with Joaquin Phoenix in that film. I'm surprised they never did another film together.
I remember watching that movie in the theater love it
The Village is one of my favorite films. I did not see the turn coming at all.
Soooo interesting!! This is something I suspected about Shyamalan after watching The Servant, in which he cast Rupert Grint in a prominent role, Rupert not having really worked after Harry Potter, it relauched his career.
I wonder if her experience would've been any different if she had different parents.
Shyamalan does seem like a decent human being though.
Come on now lol
These two together is amazeballs. Please cast them in something together.
I love M. Night Shyamalan
I fucking LOVE M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN!
I saw that movie so long ago, I didn’t even know that was BDH
What a voice! Nothing like the sweet quiet one in the movie 😱😅
What an awesome story.
That's such a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Katee! Huge fan! So glad the yt algorith led me here! ❤

lol. It’s more blessing than curse. There’s a reason hollywood is mostly nepo babies.
Wow this comment section sure is petty.
I love that she couldve been a nepo baby but she worked for her roles!
I adore the village!
Love M Night and his earlier work. But I do wonder if he was trying to win Ron Howard's good graces.

@user-Stephen-1967 multiple things can be true

The village is great but lady in the water is even better
Those who can’t perform, criticize those who can.😊
A critic's job is to give an honest review. She admitted that her performance wasn't great and said the review was fair.
Ignorant comment.

One of my favourite humans

“Yeah” “Okay” Yaaaas, interviewer, give us nothing. Like why bother?
Everything she's gotten was because her father
I’m sure that could be part of it, but thank goodness she was able to get her break cuz she’s an amazing actress in many things I’ve seen her in and we’re better for it.
"Started my career in film" uh yeah cause your ultra famous successful director father had nothing to do with it lol
When you are nepo baby things just sort of happen for you
Back then a sighted person could play a blind person and no one even thought to think or say anything about it. I wonder what would happen if it was made now.
She only get acting parts because of her dad Ron Howard her acting sucks..
Nepotism cos of her daddy… that’s how 😂😂

I wish he hadnt plagiarized The Villiage
It wasn't working, just like this interview
