Your Veneta bag should be luxuriously buttery from the beginning without having to wear it in. All my Bottega bags are ridiculously soft when I bought them from the very beginning. It makes me very curious why you said your bag needs to be worn in to get soft. That doesn’t sound right.

The old BV is worth the money. They new BV is not. The leather is not the same grade and quality.
