@@micahjohnson138I don’t think so. The west is insanely deep. Pels just got Murray and became better. People forget Memphis is a playoff team with Ja morant and before Ja morant got injured last year they were making a legit run to make the playoffs.
@@doms5755the West is deep, but for sure the Cali teams have taken a step back or stagnated. I think the wild card will be which teams decide to tank and when for the 2025 draft
The Spurs are different, Pop is the only one running the show. And yes, I doubt CP3 will suddenly have a Renaissance at 39, but I think he can bring about 10 more wins. I think people forget the PG Sochan experiment probably cost the Spurs 10+ games by itself and Wemby didn't break 30 minutes until after the All-Star break. It's going to be very interesting especially if they make a few more moves
Exactly! The Sochan debacle cost the Spurs games (I agree at east 10 possibly more with momentum). Along with that I believe that the line ups were cockeyed on purpose for "player development" and limited minutes. Using the same players as last season they were at least a 30-35-win team. Now with a year under their belt with each other and the additions I would add maybe 3 more games, so 33-38-win team. As a side note don't sleep on Ingram, he's going to be better than people think.
The mediocre 2024 draft had a significant impact on this past NBA season. The year prior, many teams were tanking for the chance at Wemby or Scoot, this season nobody was tanking. The 2025 draft however is hailed as a great one and some teams will be tanking. Apparently the Jazz are already going that route.
@@erich3784 A few were tanking, no one can convice me that at least to start the season the Spurs weren't , but a combination of Wemby and perhaps they got a better measure of the class change it somewhere towards the end. I mean with those last 15 to 20 games maybe 10 to 15 they went from completely tanking to, let's just see what we have here and worry about the draft after the fact. And Detroit ... Toronto definitely did trying to keep their pick, which I think everyone wishes they had but they probably will continue the tank next season so maybe the Spurs wouldn't get that pick anyway. Anyway yeah, going to be some hard tanks will be interesting to see how the Spurs nagivate it.
Nobody could ever convince me Sochan running point wasnt pop tanking as hard as possible. If hes available they need to trade for Markannen asap. Would be an insane duo then get a great distributor besudes Chris Paul. Paul will make half the season and games much much easier for Wemby though when healthy. Top 3 floor general point guard leader ever after Stockton and Kidd who elevates all his teammates and immediately transform an offense into an effecient machine. Actually 4th, Magic 3rd. Then probably Nash 5th. Idm about all the older guys even Magic was before my time, was like 3 when he retired so guys like Oscar and Clyde Frazier etc... mightve been at similar levels.
CP3 and the Spurs will be surprising those three bigtime. Wemby is a master around the rim and Paul is a master at putting the ball exactly where it needs to be for the "and ones." If their opponents try to double up on Wemby, Barnes and Vassell will be making a lot of threes. CP3 used to be a premier defender as well. If he knows Wemby is backing him up, it could be a long night for their opponents. Castle is supposed by be a good defender as well.
Gotta admit I hope it happens, dude would be crazy next to Wemby. Not sure what that means for Sochan though or would it push him to the 3 and Castle to the bench?
@@lordnoob6982 I think most of that would depend on Jeremy, but let's face if the Spurs go and get Markannen that means they playing for keeps next season, no time for what they did last year. There maybe some experimentation, but I think Castle starts the season coming off the bench and probably has to fight for PG minutes in garbage time or comes in on matchus where CP3 or Jones struggle. Starters CP3, Vassell, Champagne, Markannen, and Wemby with Jones, Keldon, and Sochan first off the bench. I put Champagne in at the 3 just because I would not expect them to start off with another experiment unless Jeremy showed marked improvement as a consistent shooter/decision maker. In this lineup Champagne just the temporary stop gap measure waiting on either Jeremy/Castle/Keldon to prove themselves.
