Man I’m getting so excited for Mafia The Old Country since it’s gonna have horses 🐎. It’s possibly gonna have that Italian Spaghetti western feel to it since Spaghetti Westerns were filmed in Italy or other places in the Mediterranean and filmed by Italian filmmakers and actors. This could potentially feel more unique and not just be some game to compare to GTA since it’s now in more Italian Sicilian countrysides and towns and could feel more similar to a slightly linear Red Dead with really old cars. Also we may not get RDR3 till GTA 6 is at least 10 years old so this new Mafia could be fantastic to Red Dead Fans.
This was an excellent trailer....and you aren't kidding, after hours of Game Awards cringe, it was an absolute breath of fresh air to see a game not set in a fantasy, sci-fi, or anime setting. Overall, I feel like there's a lot to like about what we can see in this trailer. I'm really looking forward to see more in the future, and of course to actually play the game itself.I really love the screenshots. They remind me of all the amazing old screenshot desktop images I had back in the day for Mafia II, that highlighted the characters and the amazing attention to detail. I agree with you that the cars do look more like the 1910s. Look up say a 1913 Fiat for comparison. I'm guessing the game might take place just before or just after WW1 (possibly both, maybe with a time jump like Mafia II). As far as horses, while obviously R* and RDR had great horse mechanics, they aren't the only ones (MGS5 comes to mind). I really like the focus on melee weapons- I've always wanted to see an "escalation of violence" from fists and knives before you actually start getting into gunfights. Hopefully the mechanics are more RDR2 than Mafia DE. Same goes for the shooting- I preferred Mafia 2's simplistic shooting combat compared to Mafia III/DE's very fast and floaty mechanics. If that guy is the Don's son, it would be cool if Enzo's love interest is his wife... creating some issues for loyalty. The 2k account benefits makes me wonder if we're going to have switchable/customizable outfits for Enzo? If so, I really really really hope we have in-engine cut scenes. I think we'll see a few cameos over the course of the game, but I hope it primarily focuses in on our new characters. I think that's one of the most exciting aspects of this for me: Mafia DE was a remake, so I already knew all the characters and the story. Having a totally fresh experience is something I'm pretty hyped for, especially when combined with a fascinating and unique setting. Aside from the red dead games, I can't think of any other game that has really tackled that early 20th century period, and obviously sicily and the American West are very different places. Here's to hoping Summer 2025 doesn't end up being late summer... or delayed even later. This game could be pretty amazing! Thanks for the analysis video GB. It feels really good to have a new game to look forward to again.
