She will not answer the "equality" question because in order to more profitable, these for profit charter schools exclude resources for children with learning, or other disabilities. When the public school system has been fully dismantled we can expect the 35% of all students with specific learning disabilities will be disenfranchised.

I have observed education secretaries during the Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama administration and none of them have such an appalling lack of knowledge as Devos. If you care at all about students with disabilities, call your senators now and ask them to vote no on her confirmation.

You can't put charter schools in the same category as public schools because they only receive partial funding from the government. Also some charter schools have a specific mandate so to say they have to adhere strictly to one federal rule or another universally would be folly. If for instance you have a charter school that is a trade school then trying to comply with the americans with disabilities clauses would be both costly and fruitless and the kind of wasteful spending that people and this administration is tired of. No one in a wheel chair is going to be an automobile mechanic period. They may want to. they may work on cars with assistance from others. but the fact is they cannot expect to be gainfully employed in that field as their is very little they can do without assistance and some things they can't do at all. They also aren't going to get into rotc and any schools.
