I agree with your comments about the Scream video and the set pieces there. But you have to remember, Dreamcatcher don't have a big budget for videos, and considering that, their videos come out fantastically.
If you want to figure out the story behind You and I, you need to watch at the very least Fly High before. Which, by the way, completely falls out of the way the video is shot that You and I and Scream do. They actually shot that at a real Chateau in France.
You can’t tell at all that the budget is smaller, the videos are super impressive! My only issue with that particular set was that they used the techniques and materials needed to make it more immersive in other scenarios, so it’s not like they didn’t have the budget for it because it was all already available. Maybe it was a stylistic or practical choice but either way it’s just a really personal nitpick haha I like the video a lot and now that I know the budget was smaller I’m even more impressed! I will definitely take a look at Fly High then. Thanks for watching and commenting! ☺️
As far as I understand, DCC do have a decent budget; despite their rep, Happyface are more of mid-tier company than some tiny, upstart label.
That said, those artificial-looking stages are _obviously_ artificial - heck, there are strobe stage lights at the back of the set.
I won't pretend to know what the reasoning is behind it, but I suspect it's _very_ deliberate.
@@reaKtpop yeah, when I first watched Scream, my only "problem" was the background lights in the forest set bc... well, it doesn't feel like a forest. I get it's a performance but it's still part of the immersiveness! (lmao, I just reached the part when she especifically mentions this haha) I'm also a film student so high five xD

Lol I would have dishonored my in laws if I mispronounced Yoohyeon’s name because our last name is Yu which uses the same Hangul as Yoohyeon’s. Plus she’s my bias.
I appreciate your insight as a filmmaker and how you’re noticing all these things that regular viewers don’t really pay attention to. Gives me an excuse to rewatch their MVs again, not like I’ve been doing that daily already lol
There’s a whole storyline to their MVs and they’re all connected. “You and I” is in the middle of their Nightmare series (It starts with “Chase Me” and ends with “Piri” or “Breaking Out”, their Japanese single) while “Scream” is the start of a brand new storyline.

Story line in RELEASE order is: Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High(prequel), You and I.
It then moves to a new/continuation with What and Full Moon(no video but they have confirmed it's part of the new time line)
Most of Dreamcatcher's videos are uploaded to their own official site and those have subtitles and those don't end up with an ad for the next video 30 seconds before the video ends. 1 the K is owned by their music distributor, hence the ads for other songs popping up.

I'd highly recommend going through MVs you haven't watched yet in the nightmare storyline; the complete order is: Fly High, Chase Me, Good Night, You and I, What, PIRI. Note that even though Fly High was the 3rd title track released, it's better to watch it first because it's a prequel.

@@reaKtpop No prob, and btw the fandom also has a nickname for short, "Somnies." Ha, I don't mean to box you in with the storyline MVs, it was just that you've already watched 2 of them, plus those title tracks showcase the classic Dreamcatcher sound. (EDIT: another Somnie just reminded me about the dance practices, how could I skip over those?!? Yes, they have some of the best girl group choreo; I'd recommend Chase Me, Good Night, and You and I first).
However, their b-sides represent a number of different genres, so here are suggestions if you want to hear how some of their non-rock/metal stuff sounds: And There Was No One Left, In the Frozen, Daydream.
Finally, if you want to check out their personalities, which are a whole nother deal: the Wanna Stan Dreamcatcher 2020 guide (great info & clips of each member) and the Sahara special clip (a self-made MV).

@@reaKtpop Thanks for the replies, glad to contribute to the cause - so pumped to see others get into them cuz they're so damn underrated it's ridiculous. I myself just discovered them last month but they're already my ult group. I was so disappointed to find out that they haven't generated that much interest at home but heartened to see that overseas, InSomnia seems strong and is growing every day.
I love this group so much and I love their lore!! But if you love cinematography, loona is THE group for it. They even have a cinema theory project thing 😂
Since what im seeing that u kinda watch the whole storyline up and down u should need to check Deja vu song its not the part of their main storyline but its a definition to ART

Loved your video. :) As a Imsonia I can only say I love both videos a lot. Also Scream and You and I are both one of my favourite songs. Rule of thumb: If you watch their videos on the Happyface/Dreamcatcher Official channels, they're far more likely to have subs than on 1theK. 😉

You said the shadow spider scene was a smart decision to make it cheaper but still delievera cool result, and i remembered something about piri mv. Yoohyeon and Jiu had the same hair color cause Yoohyeon was supposed to play Jiu's "clone" in one of the scenes. Now im thinking their director/company/idk are really smart for coming up with these super smart money-saving ideas that still make the scene looks cool!
And no, i havent noticed that "easteregg" on the set of You and I mv and now i cant unsee it so thank you lol

Yeah they definitely know how to be smart with their budget, I also think that in the Scream MV a lot of the scenes were shot in the big 'dancing stage' which allowed them to get a lot of footage from only one set. Very smart!

@@reaKtpop I think Fly High has an intersting cinematography. It was filmed in a huge castle in France, so the scenarios are breathtaking. Dejavu is kinda a "High" budget (higher than usual for mvs before it) and has a lot of CGI shots like Scream. So maybe you will like it. Chase Me is a smart budget type of mv, but still very fun to watch as well. Those are my suggestions :)

As other are pointing out, You and I are part of their Nightmare story arc. It started with their debut, Chase Me, then Good Night, then Fly high which is a prequel to Chase Me so can watch it first if you want. You and I, What, Piri, and Breaking Out finish the story. But you won't get it the first time. Unlike a movie, It would be a bad idea to produce an MV that tells it's story clearly in the first viewing. Instead, you watch all these over and over, looking for clues and trying to piece together the story. You make some of up for yourself. All the other Insomnias help of course. We make it up together. But I won't help you out this early in the adventure. It would spoil the fun.

Yes, it's all about spiders. You need to watch the MV's in a specific order if you're interested in the story. The curse of the spider/nightmare story starts in Fly High then runs through Chase Me, Good Night, You and I, What, Piri and Breaking Out. As for what people have pieced up regarding "Scream", they say it has something to do with the sin of man, especially with the phrase at the beginning. The day not coming means the start of man's sin.
As for what the song means, it is a story of a good witch that only wanted to live peacefully. However, people wanted her to be killed. She begs for mercy, not wanting to scream, which could mean die. But the people insisted on getting rid of her. And in her realization, they see her as a bad person. So she snapped, gave them the bad witch they thought she is, and making them scream instead.
Also, to add, it could also be the story about Satan.
Was punished for giving mankind freewill and was banished from Heaven. He doesn't want to be punished, to scream. But he then embraced the branding Heaven gave him, and makes everyone scream in the chaos.
I feel the same way with your comment when watched scream for the first time, real set always more good than green screen. Glad someone talk about it... That's why I love fly high, Chase me, and good night more (mv wise)

I currently can’t fix that. It’s most likely because my laptop can’t handle the size of the sometimes 30+ minutes of screen recording on top of my other HD footage. Believe me, if I could change it, I would because I don’t like it either. If it stresses you that much, you’re free watch someone else’s videos.
