I was at Bank Street School from 1963 - 1970. I remember the teacher taking my class outside to do our work sitting on the grass under the trees on summer days.
Thanks for the nice words :-) A lot of these photos were taken by my brother using an Olympus Mju compact 35mm camera. I scanned them into the computer for him and posted them. He has loads more, so time permitting there will be more slideshows on the way.
How time changes our everyday landscapes i remember doing my computer courses at the college and seeing those trees just getting chopped is sad....great footage and video....
I'm with you on that. I think they were planted in the 50's for the queen's Coronation? It's the same with the memorial gardens in Burn Street, near Kilwinning Road. The Cherry trees are long gone, and for what reason?!
I'm sure they were supposed to leave the trees. Could be wrong about that but I'm sure it was in the local paper. They chopped them anyway, and there was a bit of a kick up. There's an old saying, "It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission".
great work again spurious, the trees looked grewat in full bloom,i believe they sai the trees were diseased to remove them,i could be wrong what music do you use in the videos, sounds similar to the 1 used in the previous changes video
The developers should have been drawn over the coals for chopping down those trees. As a child I remember walking into town and knowing better weather was on the way when I saw those trees in bloom.
Change is not always for the better . This is evident with Irvine. I remember it being so much better when i was younger
That was my school from 1972-78. I loved it.

I went to Bank Street back in the 60's. Been gone from Irvine since the mid 80's. I had no idea the school is no longer there.

Attended the old Irvine Annex (part of Killie College) from 1992 until 1995.
